PM Anwar: US action in Iran-Israel conflict worsens situation, undermines stability

Anwar fields questions from reporters after a session with the Sarawak Keadilan Leadership Council at Riverside Majestic Hotel today. – Bernama photo KUCHING (June 22): Interference by major powers such as the United States in the Iran-Israel conflict will only worsen the situation and undermine regional stability as well as the global economy, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today. He said the United States' involvement in the conflict could escalate tensions and have a direct impact on key global trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. 'Now, with the involvement of external powers, including the United States, the situation will only become more volatile. If the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, it will pose a major problem to the global economy,' he told reporters after a session with the Sarawak Keadilan Leadership Council here. Anwar said Malaysia remains consistent in calling for all parties to cease all forms of violence and demanding an immediate end to Israel's provocative actions and brutality. 'We have firmly stated that for true peace to be achieved, pressure must be applied on Israel to stop its provocative and violent behaviour towards other countries. 'Sovereign nations must not be silenced from voicing out on human rights and universal justice. Our position is clear. Independent and sovereign nations must retain the ability to speak up on issues of rights and justice,' he said. – Bernama anwar ibrahim country's stability global economy Iran-Israel conflict

Woman says boss demanded live location during leave

Published on: Sunday, June 22, 2025 Published on: Sun, Jun 22, 2025 Text Size: For illustrative purposes only. KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian woman has sparked online debate after claiming her boss demanded she share her live location while on leave or risk being marked absent. In a June 10 social media post, she questioned whether the policy was 'normal', saying her boss applied it even for overseas travel. She alleged that her leave applications were held up unless she complied with the new company rule, though she ultimately refused and did not disclose her location. Her experience, which reportedly occurred while visiting an island off Malaysia, triggered hundreds of online responses condemning the practice as invasive and unlawful. She has since threatened to report the matter to the Labour Department, noting the demand extended to sick and unpaid leave as well. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
