LeBron James' message for Caitlin Clark after dominant return from injury

New York Post7 days ago

While the Fever camp is certainly ecstatic to have Caitlin Clark back, LeBron James may be just as excited.
After missing five games with a strained quad, Clark returned to the active roster on Saturday for a showdown against the Liberty.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year didn't miss a beat in getting back into the game. Clark scored 32 points and also tallied eight rebounds and nine assists. She went 7-for-14 on 3-pointers and was a thorn in the Liberty's side to deliver the defending champions their first loss of the season, 102-88, putting an end to their historic 9-0 start.

The four-time NBA champion took to X to put out his thoughts on the impressive performance comeback performance.
'The CC EFFECT!! WELCOME BACK! You were missed!' he posted.
James and Clark always been each other's camps and defended one another when needed, dating back to Clark's days at Iowa.

James has come to Clark's defense on multiple occasions. He backed her when she was receiving criticism from veteran WNBA players prior to here entering the league, such as Diana Taurasi saying a 'reality check' was on the way and Breanna Stewart saying that Clark would need a title in college to be considered an all-time great.
'If you don't rock with Caitlin Clark game you're just a FLAT OUT HATER!!!!!' James posted on X in April 2024. 'Stay far away from them people!! PLEASE.'

Last August, he posted again as Clark dropped 31 points and 12 assists in a big win over the Sky, 100-81.
'CAITLIN CLARK!!!!! HI HATERS,' James posted on X.
Clark has also returned the favor and called James her NBA 'GOAT' in an interview with David Letterman in April.

'LeBron is, like, the greatest player of all-time,' she said. 'He's still one of the best players, if not the best player in the world … It's incredible what he's done for the game of basketball and the way he's carried himself. I've always been a fan of him.'
During Clark's brief absence, the WNBA saw ratings go down 53 percent. Fever games averaged 1,810,000 viewers with Clark compared to 847,000 without her.
It's safe to say James is locked in.

How to watch Fever at Aces: Caitlin Clark, Indiana face big test in Las Vegas

Sunday's WNBA slate promises one of the most intriguing matchups of the season. The Indiana Fever, led by second-year phenom Caitlin Clark, will take on A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces, winners of two of the last three WNBA championships. Las Vegas swept the four-game season series in 2024, but the circumstances couldn't be any more different as these squads head for their first highly anticipated showdown of the 2025 campaign. Get tickets on StubHub. With a rebuilt roster and a new head coach on the sidelines, the Fever appear to be a legitimate title contender. Despite a 6-6 record (4-3 when Clark plays), Indiana has the third-best odds to win the WNBA Finals on BetMGM — trailing only the reigning champions, the New York Liberty, and last year's runner-up, the Minnesota Lynx. Clark has followed up her historic rookie season by averaging 19.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from 3-point range. She's already recorded a triple-double and dropped 32 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in her return from a hamstring injury to knock off the Liberty, handing the defending champs their first loss of the season following a 9-0 start. Advertisement The Fever are still putting the pieces together, but they've already clinched a spot in the 2025 Commissioner's Cup final, which has regularly been a predictor of postseason success. In 2023 and 2024, the teams that made the Cup final also went on to meet in the WNBA Finals. On the other hand, the Aces (5-7) have gotten off to their worst start since Wilson's rookie season in 2018. Wilson missed a few games due to concussion protocol, but the issues run deeper. Once virtually unbeatable, Las Vegas now ranks in the bottom half of the league in offensive and defensive rating and has already endured multiple 20-point losses. Six-time All-Star Jewell Loyd (11.5 points per game) has also struggled to get acclimated. Even still, Wilson has played transcendent basketball. The three-time MVP and two-time Defensive Player of the Year leads the Aces in points, rebounds, blocks steals per game, highlighting her immense importance to this team. Wilson, who sustained a concussion against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 11, returned to the lineup in Friday's loss to the Seattle Storm. She put up 20 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. Charles Barkley sends warning to Thunder after stunning Game 3 loss

The post Charles Barkley sends warning to Thunder after stunning Game 3 loss appeared first on ClutchPoints. In Game 2, many pundits believed that there was a restoration of order after the Oklahoma City Thunder dominated proceedings against the Indiana Pacers, taking a 123-107 victory. The Thunder have been dominant all season long, and everyone knew that they were going to come out strong after suffering a heartbreaking Game 1 defeat. But in Game 3, OKC lost steam in the fourth quarter, with Tyrese Haliburton and company running away with a 116-107 win to give Indiana a 2-1 series lead. Advertisement Being down 2-1 is not a death sentence for the Thunder. After all, they faced the same deficit against the Denver Nuggets, and they came back to win Games 4 and 5 to regain control of the series. But the NBA Finals is a different beast; the stakes are higher, and the pressure is as crippling as it can be. Thus, Charles Barkley warned the Thunder that they must win Game 4, lest they stare at the face of elimination heading back to Paycom Center for Game 5. 'Friday night is D-day. That's their season. If they get down 3-1 they're not gonna win this series. Now if they get it to 2-2, they get back to being the favorite. But Friday night is their game. Remember, they had KD, Russ, and James [Harden] and never got back to the Finals again. The Pacers hadn't been there in 25 years. Man, it's hard to get here. And every time you got there, that might be your only chance,' Barkley said on the NBA TV booth following the Thunder's Game 3 loss. It took the Thunder 13 years and another rebuilding cycle for them to make it back to the NBA Finals. Nothing is guaranteed in the NBA, and Barkley implored OKC to recognize the urgency of the situation that they're in. Advertisement 'Friday night is huge for this organization. It's a huge deal. [Whichever team wins Game 4] gonna win the series, 100 percent,' Barkley added. Thunder look to remain calm under pressure Kyle Terada-Imagn Images The Thunder have been lauded as the league's biggest juggernaut this season, and with that distinction comes the high expectations of winning a championship. But the bigger the expectations are, the greater the pressure is, and OKC will have to shut out all the outside noise as they look to avoid going down 3-1 to the Pacers. As well-positioned as the Thunder may be to compete for the foreseeable future, nothing is guaranteed in the NBA, as Barkley alluded to. And now that they're this close to a championship, they're not going to want to relinquish this opportunity. Caitlin Clark delivered a classy reaction to latest WNBA All-Star news

Caitlin on leading all star voting'That's not why you play…but it is cool and also it's cool for me to see how much love my teammates also got. I think had 4 in the top 10. Whether who ends up being an all star or not, it's still cool to see the love you get from the fans.' Caitlin Clark didn't totally dismiss the fact that she's currently the leading vote-getter at the moment for the 2025 WNBA All-Star game -- at first count, she's at nearly 516,000 votes, with Napheesa Collier behind at 484,758. When asked about the honor on Saturday, the Indiana Fever star kept it classy while also acknowledging how awesome it is for her to see her name at the top of that list. MORE WNBA: Warriors player savagely taunted Caitlin Clark 'It is what it is," she said with a smile. "People get so hyped up over that, but that's not why you play the game. I think it's a fun way to get fans involved and really passionate." Then, she added this: "But it is cool, and also it's cool for me to see how much love my teammates also got. I think we had four in the top 10, so whether who ends up being an All-Star or not, it's still cool to see the type love you get from the fans.' That's the way you keep it classy -- appreciating the fans, acknowledging teammates and so on -- while also being wowed by it. We'll see if this keeps up as she continues her second WNBA season, one in which her numbers are pretty identical to last year's output -- she's averaging 19.9/5.7/8.7 and over a steal a game while shooting 41.7 percent from the field (same as last season) and 35.5 from beyond the arc.
