KUCHING: A 40-year-old man was fatally shot during a hunting trip in Sri Aman recently after his friend mistook him for a wild boar, The Borneo Post reported. Sri Aman police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said the incident occurred around 5.30pm in the jungles of Sungai Dor, Melugu, on Sunday, when the 46-year-old suspect fired a shotgun at what he believed was game. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was pronounced dead at the scene by a responding medical team. Police confirmed the shooter did not possess a valid firearm licence, and the shotgun used has since been confiscated for investigation. 'The video, which purportedly links the former police chief to the receipt of financial assistance from an individual named Datuk Abdul Ghani, and that the money had been deposited into a bank account, is completely untrue and baseless. 'The Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters stresses that the 13th Inspector-General of Police never issued any statement as depicted in the video,' he said in a statement today. Hussein said Acryl Sani had lodged a police report denying that the video contained any official statement from him. He also advised the public not to share the video and urged them to verify the authenticity of any content before believing or disseminating it on social media. 'Selangor police take seriously the misuse of technology, such as AI, for the purpose of fraud or slander that could damage the reputation of any party. Firm action will be taken against those involved in spreading this fake content,' he said. Police hunt parang-wielding duo in viral robbery attempt in Hulu Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down two parang-wielding men involved in an attempted robbery at a shop in Hulu Selangor. The suspects, who were caught on video dressed in black, wearing caps and face masks, were seen attempting to attack a local man at the back of the premises. Acting Hulu Selangor district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the victim lodged a police report on Wednesday at 6.42am. "Investigations revealed that the incident took place at a premises in Ulu Yam Baru. "While the victim was inside the shop, two people entered through the back door and attempted to attack the victim with parang. "It is believed that the suspects are local men," he said in a statement. During the incident, the victim screamed for help, causing the suspects to panic and flee the scene, he said. He said they did not manage to steal any of the victim's belongings. The case is being investigated under section 393 of the Penal Code. The offence carries a maximum penalty of seven years' jail and a fine.
