Halsey hits the road on the For My Last Trick tour on May 10Amy Lee and Halsey have been "fans of each other's work" for a while, but now they're putting it on record.
The Evanescence vocalist, 43, and "You Should Be Sad" singer, 30, have officially teamed up for a new collaboration, 'Hand That Feeds," released on Friday, May 9.
The ballad, part of the soundtrack to From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, features the pair harmonizing with Lee showing off her signature belts. It serves as a treat to fans ahead of Evanescence joining Halsey as a guest during her forthcoming Wednesday, May 14 gig at the Hollywood Bowl.
"So thrilled to bring you a new song, 'Hand That Feeds' with @halsey THIS FRIDAY," Lee wrote of the moment on X. "We've been fans of each other's work for a long time and it really feels like the universe pulled us together for this moment."
"We already had the Hollywood Bowl show in place when @Lionsgate invited us to work on a song for the @ballerinamovie together, and it's finally time to serve it UP! Cannot wait for you all to hear!! 🖤"
The song arrives ahead of the June release of Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas in a spinoff of the popular Keanu Reeves-starring film franchise. It also arrives just before Halsey hits the road on their For My Last Trick tour, which kicks off on May 10 at Toyota Pavilion at Concord in Concord, Calif.
From there, Halsey is set to continue the 32-date trek around North America by hitting stops in Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, St. Louis and beyond — with their final tour date on July 6 at the Yaamava' Theater in Highland, Calif.
Other special guests will include Del Water Gap, The Warning, Alvvays, Hope Tala, Sir Chloe, Royel Otis, Flowerovlove, Magdalena Bay, and Alemeda at select dates. Back in February, Halsey detailed the tour on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sharing that she "really" likes "putting on a big show."
"I think people are usually pretty surprised when they come see me in concert. Especially if they only know me for the songs on the radio," Halsey said. "The show can be quite aggressive. I'm like a little demon. I'm like a little demon up there.... I get out there and have to exorcise some stuff."
Halsey released her fifth studio LP, The Great Impersonator, in October, while Evanescence's last full-length studio album, The Bitter Truth, arrived in 2021.
As for Ballerina, outside of de Armas and Reeves, the film also features appearances from Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus and Ian McShane. It arrives in theaters on June 6.

Russell Crowe Lends His Russell Crowe-ness to ‘Highlander'

After years of false starts, the next Highlander movie is finally coming from director Chad Stahelski and with Henry Cavill in the lead role. Cavill's been the only casting we've known about for some time, but now we know his former movie dad, Russell Crowe, is along for the ride. Per Collider, Crowe will play a 'key role' opposite Cavill, who's still expected to be playing immortal warrior Connor MacLeod. As for Crowe, that's a little tougher to determine; some outlets (like Deadline) have claimed he'll be playing a new version of Ramirez, Connor's mentor previously portrayed by Sean Connery. Meanwhile, Collider noted that or the first film's big bad Kurgan (played in the original by Clancy Brown) as likely picks. Both of them feel like roles Crowe could play pretty well, don't you think? Alternatively, it could be a brand-new character: Stahelski's previously indicated this new Highlander would go 'beyond' present day locations like Hong Kong and New York and feature 'another kind of myth.' If Lionsgate and Amazon MGM want to make more of these, having some new characters to play around with would help shake things up for those expecting a straight remake. Amazon's Road House from 2024 did this, and it's getting a sequel, so there's a blueprint to work with here. Either way, the new Highlander is said to begin filming in October. No word yet on a release window, but it'll be hitting theaters. Want more io9 news? AI revives the Dragon: Bruce Lee's legacy gets high-tech makeover

AI is coming for Bruce Lee, whether fans of the legendary San Francisco-born martial arts icon like it or not. The China Film Foundation is launching two artificial intelligence -driven projects as part of the Kung Fu Film Heritage Project, including the restoration of classic martial arts films starring Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and many others. Also in the works is what it calls the world's first fully AI-produced animated feature film. Lee's Hong Kong films 'The Big Boss' (1969) and 'Fist of Fury' (1972), Chan's 'Drunken Master' (1978) and Li's 'Once Upon a Time in China' (1991) are among the 100 movies scheduled for restoration. As reported by Variety, China Film Foundation chair Zhang Qilin said at the Shanghai International Film Festival on Wednesday, June 18, that AI will be used to enhance image, sound and production quality while preserving the storytelling and aesthetic. 'From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan, from 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' to 'Wolf Warrior,' these films have shown the world the vitality and spirit of the Chinese people,' Zhang said. 'They are our cinematic calling cards to the world.' The Shanghai festival also featured the world premiere of 'A Better Tomorrow: Cyber Border,' a futuristic animated reboot of John Woo's action classic 'A Better Tomorrow' (1986), made completely with AI. 'This entire animated feature was made by just 30 people,' producer Zhang Qing said. 'AI has collapsed the barrier between creativity and execution. The production cycle has gone from years to months.' But the use of AI for restorations can raise troubling creative issues. Lee, who died in 1973 at age 32 of a cerebral edema, and director Lo Wei, who died in 1996 at 77, are not around to guide the technicians who would use those AI tools. Many film purists argue that part of the charm of historic movies is their retro look. And that 'enhancing' the production quality can be viewed as an attempt to make an older film look like a modern film. George Lucas did this with the original 'Star Wars' trilogy to mixed reactions. Lucas, however, is the creator of those classic films. Zhang Qilin and Tian Ming, the chair of Canxing Media, which is partnering with China Film Foundation on the project, insisted this is about preservation and not alteration. 'AI is the brush, but creativity is the soul,' Ming said. 'Classic kung fu films embody China's spiritual backbone.' The Lee films are slated to be among the first 10 to be restored.
