Georgia track signee Brayden Williams sets new wind-aided 100-meter record

Yahoo23-04-2025

Everything is bigger in Texas—and apparently, everything's also faster.
Duncanville senior and Georgia track signee Brayden Williams blew away the competition in the prelims of the Class 6A Region II meet in Waco last week running sub-10 times in the 100-meters on back-to-back days. After running a 9.95 on Thursday, Williams ran the fastest wind-aided 100-meter time by a high school athlete in U.S. history the next day at 9.82.
Williams became just the fourth high school runner in U.S. history to break 10 seconds for all conditions just over a month ago. In that meet, he ran a wind-aided 9.99 in the 100-meters.

While he may be closing in on the record for the fastest 100 meters for all conditions, Williams hasn't won that record just yet.
Christian Miller out of Florida set that record last year, running a wind-legal 9.93. He did hold the record for the fastest win-aided 100 at 9.94 before Williams broke it last week.

Surprise — Bears QB Caleb Williams Doesn't Like Packers Fans: 'They Suck'

It's no secret that the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, as well as their respective fan bases, despise one another, as they hold the NFL record with 210 all-time matchups. And it appears that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is fitting right into that vitriol. Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York City on Friday, Williams said that Packers fans "suck," as shown in a video captured by Empire Sports Media. "After the game, after we won at Lambeau — 1-0 at Lambeau — we tried to do the Lambeau Leap, tried to jump into the crowd where our fans were," Williams said. "[Packers fans] just started throwing everything at you, push you off. The Lambeau Leap, it's a real leap. It's not a little baby jump, you actually have to high jump, basically. And they're pushing you, pushing your face." The Bears and Packers split their 2025 regular-season series, with both teams winning on the other's home turf. In Week 11, the Packers blocked a would-be game-winning, 46-yard field goal from Cairo Santos as time expired in the fourth quarter. Then, in Week 18, Santos made a 51-yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter, which ended a 10-game losing streak on the season for the Bears, as well as an 11-game losing streak to the Packers and an eight-game losing streak at Lambeau Field. In Chicago's two games against Green Bay, Williams totaled a combined 379 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, one passing touchdown, zero interceptions and a 95.1 passer rating, while completing 73.3% of his passes. As for the season as a whole, Williams, who Chicago selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, totaled 3,541 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, six interceptions and an 87.8 passer rating, while completing 62.5% of his passes. He also rushed for 489 yards. Williams, who started all 17 games for the Bears, ranked 44th among quarterbacks with a 67.6 overall grade, according to Pro Football Focus. Both of the Bears' and Packers' 2025 regular-season matchups will air on FOX, with the first game coming on Dec. 7 in Green Bay and the second game coming on Dec. 20 in Chicago. Caleb Williams on Green Bay fans: "They suck"

It didn't take Bears quarterback Caleb Williams long to decide he hates Packers fans just like generations of Bears before him. Williams said at Fanatics Fest that when it comes to negative experiences with fans, it was the fans in Green Bay who stand out from his rookie year. 'Probably Green Bay,' Williams said. 'I mean, they suck. After the game, after we won at Lambeau — 1-0 at Lambeau — we tried to do the Lambeau Leap, tried to jump into the crowd where our fans were. [Packers fans] just started throwing everything at you, push you off. The Lambeau Leap, it's a real leap. It's not a little baby jump, you actually have to high jump, basically. And they're pushing you, pushing your face.' By winning at Lambeau Field in Week 18, Williams salvaged a good conclusion to a disappointing rookie season. He'll be back at Lambeau in Week 14 this season, when he'll be motivated to run his record in Green Bay to 2-0. And where he's just given the fans in Green Bay some extra motivation to tell him he sucks.

Bears QB Caleb Williams explains why Packers fans 'suck'

There is no love lost between fans of the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, and quarterback Caleb Williams is adding even more fuel to the fire. During an appearance at Fanatics Fest on Friday, Williams was asked about the fan base he dislikes, and the Packers came right to mind. While there's certainly the rivalry aspect at play here, Williams detailed one experience from when the Bears were celebrating their last-second 24-22 over the Packers in the season finale. "After the game, after we won at Lambeau -- 1-0 at Lambeau," Williams said, via Ryan Garcia. "So obviously we tried to do the Lambeau leap -- we actually tried to jump in the crowd where our fans were. They started throwing everything at you, they push you off -- and the Lambeau leap it's a real leap, it's not a little baby jump. You actually have to high jump basically. They're pushing you, pushing your face." Williams also had another bad encounter with a Packer fan on the way to the Fanatics Fest, where he "got run down for six blocks" in his car. While Williams grew up idolizing Aaron Rodgers, he insists he wasn't a Packers fan. And now, safe to say, that animosity towards Green Bay will only grow as he leads the Bears in one of the NFL's most historic rivalries. Williams is off to a solid start against the Packers going 1-1 in his rookie season -- and he should very well be 2-0 if not for a blocked Cairo Santos field goal at Soldier Field.
