Amazon's cloud services unit may retire this AI app, bring changes to…

Representative Image Amazon's cloud division may be planning to upgrade its AI app strategy for enterprise customers with a new bundled service internally known as Q Business Suite (QBS), a report claims. This service, which is described as a "unified workspace", will integrate existing Amazon tools like QuickSight, Q Business, and Q Apps in the bundle to combine business intelligence and generative AI capabilities , a report citing the company's internal documents claims. With QBS, the e-commerce major will bring together Amazon Web Services' (AWS) data visualisation software QuickSight, its primary AI chatbot service Q Business and Q Apps, which allows users to create generative AI-powered apps using natural language and company data. According to a report by Business Insider, which cited internal documents and unnamed sources to claim that Amazon has even considered phasing out the standalone Q Business chatbot once the QBS service is launched. What will these changes mean to AWS' enterprise customers Amazon is revamping its AI strategy with the upcoming launch of QBS, shifting focus from its earlier enterprise AI assistant, Q Business, which reportedly faced a rushed rollout and missed sales targets. AWS is now prioritising QBS, with "Quick" being one of the potential names under consideration, the report noted, citing sources familiar with this matter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Forget Furosemide, Use This Household Item To Help Drain Edema Fluid WellnessGuide Learn more Undo Despite these developments, an Amazon spokesperson stated that Q Business is experiencing 'strong growth,' citing clients like Nasdaq, Smartsheet, and the NFL. The company's spokesperson said: 'If anything, we are investing even more in this area and expect to be delivering a ton of new features and capabilities over the coming year.' Amazon is reportedly designing QBS to offer a unified interface for accessing and automating tasks across business tools like Asana, Salesforce, Excel, and Outlook. The report, citing internal documents, describes QBS as enabling "agentic" workflows, where users can query data, generate reports, and perform actions like sending emails—all within one app. The platform aims to solve a common challenge: securely connecting multiple apps and automating tasks without a heavy technical setup. Amazon sees QBS as a step toward reducing manual, error-prone processes and eliminating fragmented workflows. This move marks Amazon's attempt to strengthen its position in the competitive software-as-a-service (SaaS) market, where it has historically lagged despite dominance in cloud infrastructure. QBS, overseen by AWS VP Dilip Kumar, is targeted for a July launch and may integrate with existing services like Q Business and QuickSight, the report adds. In the long term, Amazon envisions QBS to become a unified hub for all its business products, featuring shared identity, governance, and seamless integration. Gen AI adoption in India nearly universal, but training alone unlikely to bridge skills gap, says AWS survey

98% of organisations in India are using Generative AI tools and most are developing Gen AI training plans, but there is a limited understanding of employees' skilling needs, according to a study commissioned by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in collaboration with Access Partnership. The study that surveyed 415 senior IT decision-makers in India across industries noted that 83% of organisations in India have appointed a dedicated AI executive, usually a Chief AI Officer (CAIO), to focus on adoption and implementation. Another 15% are planning to do so by 2026, according to the survey. However, the surveyed IT decision makers cited challenges such as limited understanding of employees' Gen AI skilling needs, uncertainty about effective implementation, and budget limitations. 'Given these limitations, training alone is unlikely to bridge the skills gap,' noted AWS in a press note. Even so, Generative AI talent is expected to be in widespread demand in almost all organisations in India, per the survey. AWS shared it had launched a Generative AI Innovation Center through a $100 million investment in order to help organisations access AWS AI expertise and experts through free workshops and training. AWS previously said it planned to invest $12.7 billion into cloud infrastructure in India by 2030. Between 2016 and 2022, AWS invested $3.71 billion in India. 'We see a growing recognition of AI as a transformative technology that requires strategic leadership at the highest levels and a structured approach to change management,' said Satinder Pal Singh, Head of Solution Architecture, AWS India and South Asia, as he highlighted AWS' 'long-standing commitment to India.'

AWS plans to add $23 bn to India's GDP by 2030, says Sandeep Dutta

Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to contribute $23.3 billion towards India's gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030 while supporting over 1.31 lakh jobs annually, a senior executive from the company said on Thursday. This announcement comes as the cloud infrastructure provider prepares to invest $12.7 billion by the end of 2030 to meet the growing demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) in the country. 'We're all aware that India is on the cusp of becoming a $1 trillion digital economy. As AWS, we continue to deepen our commitment towards India,' said Sandeep Dutta, president of India and South Asia, AWS. He was speaking at the AWS Summit in Mumbai. 'We are continuously working with the government and the industry to find opportunities to mitigate India's skill gap. Since 2017, AWS in India has trained more than 5.9 million people on cloud and related skills,' Dutta added. He also revealed that the company plans to install more than 200 billion smart meters in India by 2030. 'Over the course of the next few years, we will install in excess of 200 billion smart metres in India. Why? The objective is very clear. We intend to bring down, as a country, our technical and commercial loss levels from the current trajectory of 13.8 or 14 per cent to 7 per cent in the next five to six years,' he explained. Dutta noted that every 100 basis points of loss reduction could potentially add ₹4,500 crore to the country. Smart meters are capable of digitally tracking real-time usage of electricity, gas or water, and transmitting the data directly to utility providers. AI push This highlights the growing importance of Chief AI Officers (CAIOs) in accelerating adoption and managing implementation complexity. The report added that another 15 per cent of organisations polled were planning to appoint such executives by 2026. With generative AI (GenAI) emerging as the top budgetary priority—followed by security and compute—companies are increasingly formalising AI leadership roles. The study also found that 43 per cent of organisations had fully integrated GenAI into their workflows. 'GenAI adoption in India is near universal, with 98 per cent of organisations using GenAI tools, and 95 per cent actively experimenting to unlock new applications,' the study noted. The findings are based on responses from 415 senior IT decision-makers in India across sectors including financial services, information and communications technology, manufacturing and retail.
