Who are the players for Soccer Aid 2025?
As Soccer Aid makes its return to United's stomping ground, one of the club's most legendary players will grace his former turf. Wayne Rooney stands out as both a player and manager for England.
He will be accompanied by ex-United team-mates Gary Neville and Paul Scholes in representing England. One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is set to return, along with last year's Player of the Match, Steven Bartlett. Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart will also make his Soccer Aid debut.

England's backroom team is an eclectic mix, featuring Wayne Rooney, boxing titan Tyson Fury, Harry Redknapp, actor Vicky McClure, and goalkeeper David James.
On the other side, the World XI will be managed by ex-United keeper Peter Schmeichel. The team will feature other Old Trafford heroes, such as Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic.
Boxer Tony Bellew and Italy international Leonardo Bonucci will join them for Soccer Aid 2025. The squad also includes Toby Brown, Martin Compston, Richard Gadd, Bryan Habana, Dermot Kennedy, Kaylyn Kyle, Gorka Marquez, Nadia Nadim and Livi Sheldon.
Are there any rivalries at Soccer Aid 2025?
From a football perspective, former Italy defender Bonucci may rekindle tension with the England side following his nation's triumph in the Euro 2020 final. It was heartbreak for England at Wembley, as they succumbed to Italy on penalties, with Bonucci seizing the opportunity post-match to proclaim: "It's coming to Rome."
One celebrity rivalry that won't be rekindled is reality TV's Sam Thompson and singer Louis Tomlinson. The One Direction heartthrob is dating Thompson's ex-girlfriend, Zara McDermott from Love Island. This fresh relationship came to light in March, a mere three months after news broke that Thompson and McDermott had called their relationship quits.
However, Thompson has pulled out of the event just days before it was due to take place.
During a recent episode of Thompson's Staying Relevant podcast, co-host Pete Wicks teased about potential Soccer Aid rivalries, asking: "Any kind of people in there who you're looking forward to playing with [at Soccer Aid]?"

The 32-year-old enthusiastically answered: "Loads. Tom Grennan. I'm really looking forward to playing alongside Wayne Rooney. Tyson Fury's the manager. I can't wait."
In another light-hearted dig, Wicks replied: "'I mean that's gonna be f****** amazing. Make sure you get him (Fury) on side, though, because you may need him in your corner in case you fall out with anyone. Not that you will but just in case there's any rivalries or anything. All sorts gets brought up."
Meanwhile, Thompson has already been busy raising money for UNICEF. He delivered the match ball from Stamford Bridge in London to Old Trafford in Manchester, raising more than £1.5m in the process.

Who won at Soccer Aid in 2024?
England emerged as the winners of Soccer Aid in 2024 under Lampard's management. Joe Cole swiftly put the Three Lions ahead after only six minutes, but Chelsea icon Eden Hazard scored at Stamford Bridge to level the score.
The World XI snatched the lead thanks to Alessandro Del Piero, but Ellen White made history before the break by becoming the first female scorer in the event's history.
In the second half, Bartlett claimed his first goal and was later named Player of the Match, while Jermain Defoe added another to the tally. Bartlett wasn't finished, netting his second and bringing the score to 5-2, until Billy Wingrove scored from the spot for the World XI. Theo Walcott sealed the deal with a final goal, setting England's sights on equalling the overall record this time around.

Gareth Bale consortium in bid to buy Cardiff
The 35-year-old former Real Madrid and Wales forward was understood to be part of a consortium that had conversations regarding a takeover of Plymouth earlier this week, along with several other clubs, but it appears they have now turned their attention to south Wales. The Athletic reports that the consortium sent current Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan a letter of intent last month, which included financial figures, but it was rejected. Bale is seeking to be the latest big sporting name to be associated with an EFL club. His former Real team-mate Luka Modric became an investor in and co-owner of Championship side Swansea in April, while ex-NFL quarterback Tom Brady has a minority stake in Birmingham. Cardiff declined to comment on Friday night. Bale retired from football in January 2023 at the age of 33. He won five Champions League titles with Real and is the men's all-time record goalscorer for Wales with 41 in 111 caps. He was linked with an emotional move to Cardiff, his hometown club, after leaving Madrid in 2022 but instead joined MLS side LAFC. Bale featured for Wales at the 2022 World Cup – their first appearance at the global finals since 1958 – and at the Euros in 2016 and 2020. Cardiff were relegated to League One last season and appointed Brian Barry-Murphy as their new manager this week.

Antonio Conte makes statement about Man Utd transfer he did not expect
Napoli boss Antonio Conte has revealed he was surprised that one Manchester United transfer was completed last summer with the Italian not expecting the deal to go ahead Antonio Conte has revealed he was surprised Napoli were able to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United last summer. The Scotland international helped inspire a Serie A title win in his first season at the club as he played a pivotal role in the success. United accepted a £25.4million bid for McTominay as they parted ways with the academy product in August 2024, much to ex-Chelsea boss Conte's delight. Then Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag blamed profit and sustainability rules for the sale of the midfielder, admitting he had mixed feelings about the deal. But while McTominay had struggled to secure a position in the Dutchman's starting XI consistently, he quickly proved his worth to Conte. The 27-year-old deliverd 12 goals and six assists in 34 appearances during his debut season in Italy, including six goals in the final seven matches as Napoli earned the title over Inter Milan on the final day of the season. And Conte was surprised to have McTominay at his disposal at all. Despite being told by club chiefs that his signature could be secured, the Italian thought Napoli's lack of European football could be problematic. But the 55-year-old knew the player was underutilised at Old Trafford. Conte was more than happy to take advantage of the opportunity. "Scott is a player whom I knew really well. He was born and raised at Manchester United," Conte told Sky Sport Italia. "I could see that he always made an impact when he played, but at the same time, I noticed he wasn't used as a key player at Manchester United. "He was hardly a starter. Honestly, we had talked about it with [Napoli director] Giovanni Manna. He told me it was a possible solution. "Sometimes, directors make up stories also to keep you calm. If you ask me: 'Have you ever thought McTominay would surely arrive?' I'd say no. "Don't forget we were heading into a season without European trophies to play for, so he had to leave Manchester United to start over with us." Conte was left with a single frustration, McTominay's signing happened too close to the end of the window. 'A bit late, but he arrived and I was very happy because Manna was good at signing him,' Conte said. 'We had discussed McTominay, but I didn't think he would really join us.'
