Restoration of RoDTEP benefits to boost MSMEs, enhance investors' confidence: Assocham
New Delhi: The restoration of benefits under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme by the government will also benefit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improve export logistics and enhance investors' confidence in India's industrial corridors, Assocham said on Wednesday.
The leading industry chamber commended the Centre for restoring the benefits under the RoDTEP scheme for exports from Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export-Oriented Units (EOUs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZs), effective June 1, 2025.
The restoration ensures that key contributors to India's exports are not excluded from critical incentives, especially at a time when global competitiveness and domestic industrial resilience are of utmost importance.
'Assocham has consistently advocated for the extension of RoDTEP to all exporting entities, including those operating in SEZs and under AA and EOU frameworks. This move will correct the gap that created cost disadvantages for such units and is aligned with India's WTO commitments,' said Manish Singhal, Secretary General, Assocham.
As of March 31, 2025, total disbursements under the RoDTEP scheme have crossed Rs 57,976.78 crore, underscoring its significant role in supporting India's merchandise exports. For the financial year 2025–26, the government has allocated Rs 18,233 crore under the scheme.
The RoDTEP scheme, in place since January 1, 2021, reimburses embedded taxes and duties not refunded under other schemes, thus promoting fair pricing and helping exporters to stay competitive.
The latest notification reinstates these benefits which were available until February 5. 2025, creating uncertainty and financial strain for many exporters.
The extended benefit will now cover over 10,795 HS lines applicable to AA, SEZ, and EOU exports, providing a much-needed boost to sectors such as engineering goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals and textiles that operate heavily through these frameworks, said Assocham.
The RoDTEP scheme is compliant with World Trade Organisation (WTO) norms and is implemented via a comprehensive end-to-end digital platform to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 22 (ANI): Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge questioned the Centre on Sunday for its 'U-turn' on its decision to grant him approval to visit the United States, claiming that the delay in approval has led to loss of investment opportunities for the state. Kharge alleged that the MEA's decision is politics being played by Opposition-ruled states. 'This question should be asked to the MEA. Why did they deny the delegation led by me, and why are they allowing it now? What was wrong then and what is right now?...We were supposed to be there from 13th June, and it is 21st already. Do you think World Expos and World Trade exhibitions will wait for us?' Kharge told ANI. The state minister said that Karnataka is 'one of the biggest economic growth engines' for the country, making it important to seek investments too. He alleged that while certain southern states are driving the GDP of the country, they are also facing problems. 'The politics being played is also to be explained by the MEA not by me. (This is) denying us the right to seek investments and create jobs, we are one of the biggest economic growth engines for the country... if we don't get to go abroad and seek investments, have you seen UP or Bihar CM going to get investment? It is always Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu - we are the ones who are driving 50% of the GDP of the country and you (central Govt) doing such things is of no use to anybody,' the state minister said. On Saturday, the Congress leader had posted on X demanding an explanation for denying him permission to visit US and represent Karnataka in various global forums and official meetings. He said that he had submitted his request for travelling to US from June 14 since May 15, but was rejected without an explanation. His post read, 'So in a U-turn, the Ministry of External Affairs has now decided to revoke its earlier decision and grant me a clearance for an official visit to the United States. I had sought permission on 15 May to travel between 14-27 June to represent the Government of Karnataka at two major global forums and over 25 official meetings with top companies, universities and institutions for collaborations and pitch for application was denied without any official explanation.' He explained that the application for the minister and his delegation was submitted on May 15, which was later rejected on June 4. Kharge added that an application for the officer delegation without the minister was submitted on June 6, and it got clearance on June 11. (ANI)

Loan scam: Case against education consultancy for duping finance firm of Rs 2.5 crore; police probe in Telangana
HYDERABAD: The economic offences wing (EOW) of Cyberabad police has registered a case of cheating and criminal intimidation against the directors of an education consultancy accused of defrauding a city-based non-banking financial company (NBFC) of over Rs 2.5 crore. According to a complaint filed by Keerthi Kumar Jain (44), director of the NBFC, the company disbursed a loan of Rs 1.5 crore on Feb 28, 2024, to an Erragadda-based education consultancy, represented by its directors B Kishore Kumar and B Shravan Kumar Beengi. The loan was sanctioned based on invoice receivables and employee details submitted by the accused. However, a subsequent internal audit revealed that the invoice was fabricated and the employee records were forged. When the NBFC confronted the consultancy and suspended further disbursals, the accused allegedly severed all communication and even issued threats of 'grave consequences' to complainant. "To date, not a single instalment has been repaid. The borrowers are deliberately evading contact, indicating clear intent to cheat from the beginning," Jain said in his complaint. As of March 29, 2025, the outstanding dues, including principal, interest, and charges, amounted to Rs 2.25 crore. Despite repeated visits, calls, emails, and legal notices, there has been no response from the borrowers, prompting the NBFC to approach the police. Based on the complaint, Cyberabad EOW registered a case on June 17 against Kishore and Shravan under sections 318(4) (cheating), 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), read with 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have initiated an investigation and are currently verifying loan documents and financial transaction details between both parties.
