Fit for 'The Don'? Isidingo star's grand tombstone revealed

Isidingo actor Don Mlangeni Nawa was honoured with a dignified funeral service and a larger-than-life tombstone erection over the weekend.
The 65-year-old veteran star died earlier this month after a battle with prostate cancer.
Like many late industry greats, Don Mlangeni Nawa was buried at West Park Cemetery's Heroes' Acre.
On Facebook, popular funeral provider Khaabo Tombstones shared a look at the gold and black granite tombstone they had designed and erected for the actor.
The stone featured a life-size portrait of Don, which was erected on three steps. On each stair was a list of the actor's industry achievements.
The company posted, 'Don Mlangeni was laid to rest the executive way, fitting for an icon!'
Don Mlangeni Nawa's tombstone is one of several celebrity creations spotted at Heroe's Acre.
Others include, Kwaito stars: Emmanuel Matsane 'Mjokes', Prokid, Mapaputsi, and Mshoza
Actors: Connie Chiume, Shona Ferguson, Joe Mafela
Artists: Robbie Malinga and Mandoza
During the funeral proceedings, Don's coffin was spotted being transported via a fire truck to his burial place at West Park Cemetery.
According to Sphesihle J Hadebe, this was due to the City of Ekurhuleni granting him a special civil funeral.
The coffin was draped in a South African flag and given an extraordinary send-off.

Chris Brown pleads 'not guilty' in London assault case

American singer Chris Brown appeared in a London court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. The 36-year-old R&B star faces allegations related to a nightclub brawl in London in 2023. Dressed in a dark suit and tie with glasses, Brown stood calmly in the dock at Southwark Crown Court. When asked to enter his plea, he responded clearly, 'Not guilty, ma'am.' The case has drawn international attention, including from fans and media in South Africa, where Brown has a significant following. Chris Brown was arrested last month in Manchester, in the north-west of England, according to IOL. He was released on bail set at £5 million, which is approximately R130 million. The high bail amount reflects the seriousness of the charges. A spokesperson for Brown said, 'Chris is confident the truth will come out during the trial. He denies all allegations and looks forward to clearing his name.' The incident reportedly took place during a nightclub altercation in London last year. The prosecution alleges that Brown intended to cause serious harm. However, Brown's legal team insists the charges are unfounded. South African fans have expressed mixed reactions on social media. Some show support, hoping for a fair trial, while others stress the importance of justice and accountability. Chris Brown enjoys immense popularity in South Africa, where he has built a devoted fan base over nearly two decades. His music, rooted in R&B, resonates deeply with South African audiences, particularly among black middle-class listeners who have long embraced American R&B on radio stations. In December 2024, Brown made history by selling out two consecutive nights at Johannesburg's FNB Stadium. Each night drew nearly 95,000 fans—a remarkable feat that few international artists achieve on the continent. This case highlights how international celebrities can face legal challenges far from home. The court will continue the trial in the coming months. Chris Brown remains out on bail as the court prepares for further hearings. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Will Smith opens up about personal growth post-Oscars slap

Will Smith has given a striking new perspective on the infamous Oscars moment when he slapped Chris Rock in 2022. Now, nearly three years later, the actor describes the incident as 'bruitiful' — a mix of brutal and beautiful. The actor reflected on how it forced him to confront authenticity and imperfection in his life and career, according to The Daily Mail. Will Smith spoke on BBC Radio 1Xtra with Remi Burgz . He said the experience pushed him to embrace his humanity rather than cling to an image of perfection. 'Finding that way to be with my humanity — be able to not be perfect but be human and find a higher power in my humanity,' he explained. He added that this acceptance allows him to be 'better than Will Smith,' the idealised version of himself he once sought to project. 'The honesty and authenticity and the broader spectrum of the possibilities of who I am is better than Will Smith,' he said. The slap occurred during the 94th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Chris Rock had just made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, a result of her alopecia diagnosis. Will Smith stormed the stage and struck Rock. He then shouted for him to 'keep my wife's name out of your mouth,' shocking the global audience. The incident led to a 10-year ban from the Oscars and widespread backlash. Despite the fallout, Will Smith has continued to work on his career. However, sources say the incident has had lasting consequences. Industry insiders reveal that while Smith still has strong instincts for choosing projects. The slap made it difficult for him to secure big-budget films. His public image took a hit, and some projects were put on hold, costing him an estimated R18 billion (about $1 billion) in lost deals and opportunities. Will Smith has publicly apologised to Chris Rock and the Academy, expressing remorse and a desire to make amends. Chris Rock has not yet accepted his offer. The actor has used the experience as a catalyst for personal growth, focusing on authenticity and imperfection rather than maintaining a flawless public persona. Will Smith's journey highlights the complexities of public accountability and personal evolution in the age of instant global media. His candid reflections on embracing imperfection resonate universally, reminding us that even those at the pinnacle of fame face human struggles and the need for growth.
