The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the death of 6 immigrants and the disappearance of 60 others while attempting to cross from the Libyan coast to Europe during the first week of June. In its weekly statistics published on Facebook, IOM said that 635 migrants were intercepted in the Mediterranean and returned to Libya during the same period, after departing from the coasts of Tripoli, Al-Zawiya, and Sabratha. Among the immigrants were 19 children, 557 men, and 32 women, who were returned to detention centers in Tripoli, according to IOM, which added that between January 1 and June 14 of this year, 249 immigrants died in the Mediterranean, while 226 others went missing.
