PM Modi inaugurates mega projects in Uttar Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated multiple development projects across Uttar Pradesh aimed at improving infrastructure and energy capacity in the region.
The Prime Minister opened the section of the
Kanpur Metro Rail Project
connecting Chunniganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro Station, covering 14 stations. The project includes five underground stations that link important city areas and commercial hubs. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the widening and strengthening works on G.T. Road.
In the energy sector, several projects were inaugurated to increase power generation and supply. A 660 MW extension of the
Panki Thermal Power Plant
in Kanpur, worth over ₹8,300 crore, was opened, along with three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project valued at ₹9,330 crore. The Prime Minister also inaugurated 132 kV substations at Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida, worth ₹320 crore.
Further developments include the inauguration of rail overbridges at Panki Power House Railway Crossing and Panki Dham Crossing on Panki Road in Kanpur. These structures will support the Panki Thermal Power Extension Project by facilitating coal and oil transport and easing traffic congestion.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 40 MLD tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan in Kanpur, which will enable the reuse of treated sewage water to promote water conservation.
Foundation stones laid for power and road projects
Foundation stones were laid for a 220 kV substation in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Gautam Buddh Nagar, to meet regional energy demands. The Prime Minister also laid foundation stones for road projects including the widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Marg in Kanpur Nagar District and a road connecting Narwal node on Prayagraj highway to Kanpur defence node under the defence corridor.

The Archaeological Survey of India, which is responsible for maintaining ancient monuments and archaeological sites, has waived the entry fee for the Taj Mahal. The ASI typically waives the entry fee to the Taj Mahal on special occasions such as World Heritage Day, celebrated on April 18th, and during Urs, Shah Jahan's death anniversary. But on the eve of International Day of Yoga, they have made entry to the Taj Mahal free, bringing cultural and wellness together. Along with the Taj Mahal, entry to several other historical monuments, such as Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Sikandra, and Etmad-ud-Daula, is free. On the International Day of Yoga, people are participating in yoga events all over India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Yoga in in Visakhapatnam and urged the international community to embrace 'inner peace' as a 'global policy' and make yoga a collective global responsibility. Speaking at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, the Prime Minister called upon countries to adopt yoga not just as a personal or cultural practice, but as a unifying force for humanity. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined the International Day of Yoga and performed Yoga in Gorakhpur on Saturday. While addressing the public, Yogi Adityanath said, 'Today, Yoga Day is being celebrated in Gorakhpur. The local minister, MPs, other public representatives, and all the brothers and sisters here are participating. I welcome everyone. This program is happening not just here, but across the country and the world. In Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spreading the message of yoga. On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, I send my warm wishes to everyone.' Yogi said that yoga builds spiritual strength and is India's gift to the world. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for getting global recognition for yoga. He also wished everyone good health and happiness on the occasion. Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai was also present at the event and participated in the session. He also addressed the other participants who were present at the International Yoga Day. The 11th International Yoga Day is being celebrated all over India. People are coming out of their houses to participate in several events being organised in different parts of India. Yoga is a way to a healthy and happy life, and 21 June, which is recognised as International Yoga Day, is a reminder to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Several ministers and leaders are participating in yoga celebrations in different states and regions to bring awareness and to motivate people as well. Enthusiasm marks International Day of Yoga in Andhra Pradesh

The month-long Yogandhra campaign organised across Andhra Pradesh culminated in the International Day of Yoga-2025 held on the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, Union Ministers, and Ministers participated. The officials and staff of various departments, who had toiled day in and day out, heaved a sigh of relief as the mega event passed off without any major glitches. Contrary to the alerts of possible rain that threatened to mar the mega event, the cool breeze in the early hours, followed by the sun casting its rays after dawn provided relief to the organisers. A beaming Prime Minister heaped lavish praise on the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, and had a special mention of the work done by HRD Minister Nara Lokesh in the smooth conduct of the month-long event. Mr. Modi said that Mr. Lokesh had set an example for others to emulate in the conduct of such mega events. Later, at a review meeting, Mr. Naidu commended the Ministers, MLAs, officials, and staff for the success of the event across the State. In NTR district, 9 lakh people had taken part in the yoga sessions organised at every Grama Sachivalayam. In Vijayawada, more than 5,000 people gathered at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium, where a huge screen was set up for the live telecast of the main event from Visakhapatnam. District Collector G. Lakshmisha and Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhara Babu were among the officials who took part. At the Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla district, Collector J. Venkata Murali, along with 10,000 people, participated in the Yoga Day celebrations. Many participated in various other locations across the district. In Palnadu district, a total of 9.97 lakh people participate in the yoga sessions at 5,000 venues. Collector P. Arun Babu participated at the district headquarters, where around 10,000 people participated, the I&PR Department said. In Guntur district, Collector S. Nagalakshmi participated along with 5,000 participants at the Police Parade Grounds in Guntur city. A total of 9.70 people participated at 5,130 venues. An overwhelming participation of over 8 lakh people was witnessed under the Yogandhra- 2025 initiative across the Chittoor district. In Chittoor, Collector Sumit Kumar, Superintendent of Police V.N. Manikantha Chandolu, and officials joined the public in the yoga day event at the District Police Grounds. At Rayachoti in Annamayya district, over 5,000 people took part in the event, led by Collector Sridhar Chamakuri. In Hindupur of Sri Sathya Sai district, Collector T.S.
