UFC Fight Night 256 video: Denise Gomes bludgeons Elise Reed during brutal knockout
Denise Gomes added another brutal knockout to highlight reel Saturday in Las Vegas.
At UFC Fight Night 256, Gomes (11-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) finished Elise Reed (8-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) with punches. The stoppage came 30 seconds into Round 2.
The finishing sequence began with an overhand right. Reed popped back up to her feet only to be bowled over once again. Referee Jason Herzog gave Reed plenty of opportunity to recover and intelligently defend but the wrath of Gomes proved to be too much.

UFC on ABC 8 results: Curtis Blaydes squeaks by Rizvan Kuniev – but win came at potential cost
Curtis Blaydes is back in the win column, but at what cost? On the UFC on ABC 8 main card Saturday, Blaydes (18-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) defeated Rizvan Kuniev via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). The event took place at Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan. The fight was competitive yet relatively uneventful. Kuniev, who made his UFC debut, was not out of place. After a strong first round from Blaydes, the hulking Russian took it to the perennial American contender. While one judge scored it for Kuniev, the other two leaned Blaydes. The closeness of the fight could be due to injury, as Blayes revealed during his in-cage interview that his left MCL "popped" in the first round. Should he be granted a relatively clean bill of health, Blaydes said he wants to fight Ciryl Gane next. Despite the divisional longevity for both men, they've never fought. With the victory, Blaydes bounces back into the win column in his first competition since July 2024 when he was finished in one minute by Tom Aspinall. Kuniev, 33, comes up short in his long-awaited UFC debut. His debut, including twice booked vs. Blaydes, was canceled three times prior to Saturday. Up-to-the-minute UFC Baku results include:

Myktybek Orolbai plays spoiler, cranks Tofiq Musayev into first-round tap at UFC Baku
Myktybek Orolbai was in position to play spoiler for the UFC debut of Tofiq Musayev in front of his home fans, and he did it in a big way. Orolbai (14-2-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) submitted Musayev (22-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with a picture-perfect kimura with 25 seconds left in the first round of their lightweight fight on the main card at UFC on ABC 8. Musayev came out to a big ovation from the fans at Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan, where the UFC set up shop for the first time, but Orolbai left them disappointed. In the buildup to the fight, Orolbai said he was planning a surprise for Musayev, and that may have come in the form of three takedowns in the opening minutes of the fight. Ultimately, that was his perfect path to the win. Check out the tail end of his finish below. Orolbai got back in the win column after a Fight of the Night loss to Mateusz Rebecki this past October, which snapped an eight-fight streak. Musayev, a former Bellator and Rizin standout, dropped his promotional debut and had a two-fight streak snapped. Up-to-the-minute UFC Baku results:
