Rhea Chakraborty says she lost acting work, brother Showik's MBA dreams shattered after Sushant Singh Rajput death case
Actor Rhea Chakraborty, who was accused of abetment to suicide following the death of her then-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, has opened up about the lasting impact the case had on her and her brother, Showik Chakraborty. In an interview with CNBC TV18, Rhea shared how both their careers came to a halt and how they struggled to rebuild their lives after the tragedy. She added that finding a job for Showik in the corporate world became next to impossible due to the media storm surrounding them. 'Getting a job for Showik afterwards in any corporate setup was very difficult. No one wanted to hire someone who had so much media scandal around them. For a while, we weren't sure where our lives were going. Like, what's next? We had our healing processes.'
During that phase of uncertainty, the siblings decided to channel their energy into building something of their own. That's how Chapter 2 Drip, a clothing brand aimed at giving people a voice and helping them feel seen, was born.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai home on 14 June 2020. Following a complaint filed by his father, Rhea was accused of abetment to suicide and subjected to multiple investigations by the CBI, ED, and NCB. However, in May 2024, the CBI filed a closure report, clearing both Rhea and Showik of all charges.
On 24 May, Rhea and Showik launched the first physical store of Chapter 2 Drip in Mumbai. Rhea also shared a glimpse of a puja held at the store on social media. Meanwhile, Rhea made her showbiz comeback last year as a gang leader on MTV Roadies and went on to win the season. She returned to the show again this year but lost the trophy to Elvish Yadav.

(Also Read: Kuberaa worldwide box office collection day 1: Dhanush gets his biggest opener globally at ₹ 27 crore) Kuberaa box office collection day 2: Nagarjuna and Dhanush in a still from the Sekhar Kammula film. The trade website reports that Kuberaa collected an estimated ₹ 14.91 crore net in India on Saturday, taking its total to ₹ 29.66 crore. The film brought in ₹ 14.75 crore on its opening day and, despite good reviews, saw little improvement. Kuberaa registered a good occupancy at 60.36% for the Telugu version and is performing better in the Telugu version than the Tamil version. The collections are on par with the ₹ 27.04 crore that Dhanush's previous film, Raayan, collected in two days. Suriya's recent release, Retro, made ₹ 27 crore in two days, but Kuberaa has yet to surpass Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi or Good Bad Ugly and Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj. About Kuberaa Kuberaa tells the story of a beggar named Deva (Dhanush) who crosses paths with a former CBI officer, Deepak Tej (Nagarjuna), in an encounter that changes his life. Along the way, he also meets Sameera (Rashmika), a woman stranded in Mumbai and looking for a way out. Jim plays the corrupt CEO of a rich corporation called Neeraj Mitra. Suniel Narang, Puskur Ram Mohan Rao and Ajay Kaikala have produced the film under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations. Talking at a success meet after the release of Kuberaa, Nagarjuna claimed he was the 'main character' and said, 'Through this film, I am the main character in the film and everything else revolves around me. The screen space I got might be different, but that is not a criterion for me. This is Deepak's film, right from start to end, and that is how Sekhar also told it when he narrated it to me. My arc is also likewise that, which is why I liked it.'
