Illegal Food Trucks Removed, Licensed Vehicles Monitored in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Teams from the Public Hygiene and Road Occupation Departments, operating under the municipality's governorate branches and in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, have launched a series of intensive field campaigns targeting illegal food trucks operating in various areas.
A municipality official emphasized that this campaign will apply to all vehicles without exception, whether they are licensed or not. Vehicles found violating regulations will be removed, while licensed trucks will be closely monitored to ensure full compliance. The official highlighted that inspections will be especially rigorous during this period, with particular focus on marine sites.
In the past 24 hours alone, several mobile food trucks were identified operating outside their approved locations and were promptly dealt with by the authorities. The official clarified that holding a commercial license does not exempt these vehicles from scrutiny; on the contrary, licensed vehicles will undergo even stricter oversight than unlicensed ones.
The official also noted a recurring issue where some food trucks frequently change locations without obtaining the necessary permits, a practice that makes them liable to fines and other penalties. He stressed the municipality's firm commitment to enforcing the law fairly and consistently, without any exceptions.
Supporting this effort, Saad Al-Khurainj, Director of the General Cleanliness and Road Occupation Department at the Ahmadi Governorate Municipality branch, reported that inspectors have conducted several patrols throughout the governorate. These inspections led to the removal of seven mobile vehicles that were found operating outside their licensed locations. These vehicles were subsequently impounded at the municipality's facilities in the Khairan Al-Bahri and Nuwaiseeb areas.
The municipality continues to strengthen its oversight to ensure public health and safety by eliminating illegal operations and maintaining orderly food truck activities in designated zones.

During the same period, authorities arrested 38 minors for driving without a license and below the legal age, and detained 129 individuals, including 32 wanted persons, 9 expatriates with absconding cases, 87 expatriates with expired residency permits, and one criminal suspect. According to the weekly report, there were 1,288 traffic accidents, of which 201 resulted in injuries or fatalities, while the remaining 1,087 involved only material damage. The Traffic Department's enforcement campaigns also led to the impoundment of 31 vehicles and motorcycles (27 vehicles and 4 motorcycles) and the referral of 46 serious violators to the traffic police station. Additionally, officers recovered 67 vehicles wanted by judicial authorities and apprehended two individuals driving stolen vehicles. Two people were found in an abnormal state and handed over to the General Department for Drug Control, while two expatriates were referred for administrative deportation for engaging in unauthorized street vending. Among the various regions, the Capital Traffic Department recorded the highest number of violations with 6,693, followed by the Ahmadi Traffic Department with 5,269, and the Jahra Traffic Department with 4,793 violations.
