It happened ahead of his Premier League farewell week against Bournemouth and Fulham.
The midfield ace was given the fondest of farewells at the Etihad as he helped the Blues defeat the Cherries 3-1 before being summoned off the bench for an emotional cameo in the 2-0 win at Fulham, a result that guaranteed Champions League football for a 15th consecutive season.
Kevin may not be here to participate in that elite European competition next season but you know the skipper has played his part in helping us qualify for it once again.

Before that vital double header of victories, we worked very closely with a set design company and leant into nostalgia by creating a 1970's lux trophy room aesthetic, using rich, warm tones to bring King Kev's incredible achievements into focus.
The retro look is apt because when we ourselves reminisce in years to come about the greatest players to have represented Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne's name will be very much front and centre.

Echeverri gives Guardiola 'selection headache'
City's affinity with attacking players from Argentina has seen some go down in the club's record books. Sergio Aguero provided the most memorable and dramatic moment of their first Premier League title success, Carlos Tevez famously moved to the club having previously played for rivals Manchester United, while Julian Alvarez's £81m transfer to Atletico Madrid is their most expensive sale. Advertisement Guardiola may now have a future star on his hands in teenager Echeverri, who hails from the South American country that produced footballing greats Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona. Echeverri signed for City in January 2024 but remained at River Plate on loan for another year and was given a surprise debut as a substitute in May's FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace. The 19-year-old played only 45 minutes of City's rout on Sunday, but caught the eye with a sublime free-kick on his first start for the club. "Since he arrived and [in] the three or four months with us, at the end of training sessions he was practising free-kicks with the goalkeeper, wall and alone," Guardiola said. Advertisement "The other ones did not practise. He was practising and practising and the work pays off. Fantastic goal and incredible player." Guardiola has made clear he wants to work with a smaller squad. The out-of-favour trio of Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips appear to have no futures at the club, while James McAtee was not selected for the trip. The City boss wants to further trim his playing personnel from the 27 that are currently in the United States, but Echeverri may have given his manager a headache about whether to keep him with the squad this season or sanction a loan move.

Claudio Echeverri scores brilliant first Manchester City goal
Claudio Echeverri stole the headlines as Manchester City continued their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Al-Ain in Atlanta. Pep Guardiola's side cruised past their UAE opponents to maintain their perfect start to the tournament. Ilkay Gundogan was on target twice for the Premier League side, with Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb and summer signing Rayan Cherki also finding the net. Advertisement The game's most memorable goal belonged to Echeverri, however, who opened his account for the Citizens in fine style. The teenager linked up with City from River Plate in January but made just three appearances during the second half of the campaign. Echeverri is aiming to put himself in contention for a regular role next season and caught the eye with a fantastic free-kick against Al-Ain. The 19-year-old doubled City's advantage with a strike of perfect placement, underlining his huge potential. El Diablo has arrived at Manchester City. Lyon to secure Manchester City signing after attempts to loan FOUR other of Pep Guardiola's stars
Lyon to secure Manchester City signing after attempts to loan FOUR other of Pep Guardiola's stars Juma Bah is expected to make a decision on his next temporary club for the upcoming season following conversations with his entourage and Manchester City. When City officials forked out a €6 million fee to acquire the young defender from Spanish outfit Real Valladolid, they did so without a spot in their first-team squad for the 19-year-old, given the arrivals of Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis in the same winter transfer window. Advertisement Club bosses swiftly arranged a loan deal with RC Lens where Bah would go on to make 10 appearances including eight starts for the French side. However, as the Sierra Leonean youngster makes his way back to the Etihad Stadium, he will be sent back out on loan. There has been several weeks and months of uncertainty as to where the teenage prospect could shine during the forthcoming season, with some reports tipping a move back to Spain with Girona, or perhaps elsewhere in English football. However, now there is an understanding from some quarters that French giants Olympique Lyonnais – who sold Rayan Cherki to Manchester City this month – have emerged as the front runner for Juma Bah's next loan. As reported by French newspaper L'Equipe, a loan for the Sierra Leone international was something discussed between the two sides during the negotiations for Cherki, who departed the Groupama Stadium for the Etihad ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. Advertisement Although, a move for the 19-year-old has seemingly only followed interest in a number of other names at Manchester City, with Lyon exploring the idea and possibility of securing the likes of James McAtee or Claudio Echeverri on temporary agreements. Furthermore, the report claims that such a duo was preceded by tentative interested in the likes of Oscar Bobb and Abdukodir Khusanov, with Manchester City not interested in allowing any of the quartet to depart. While Lyon appear to be in the lead for landing the Sierra Leonean defender from Manchester City, it has also been claimed that fellow French outfit OGC Nice are another candidate to land the 19-year-old, with a final decision expected in the coming days. It remains to be seen what other names could follow Juma Bah out of Manchester City in the coming weeks, with speculation growing over Kyle Walker and his future, as well as Ilkay Gundogan amid interest from Turkey.
