‘NO GO': ULA scrubs Amazon's Kuiper 1 mission on Space Coast
A rocket intended to help Amazon send thousands of satellites into orbit remained on the ground Thursday morning in Brevard County.
The Kuiper 1 mission was delayed six times on Wednesday night before United Launch Alliance officials finally called a scrub.
The mission will be the first of 46 launches for ULA and Amazon and will aim to deploy more than 3200 broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit.
The constellation will be used to improve internet access.
ULA said 'inclement weather' prevented the Atlas 5 rocket from launching Wednesday night.
The company has not announced a new target date and time for liftoff from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

ULA's Amazon satellite launch now set for Monday liftoff at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Take two: United Launch Alliance now aims to launch an Atlas V rocket on Amazon's second Project Kuiper broadband satellite mission at 6:54 a.m. Monday, June 23, seven days after a scrub. It's Amazon's planned $10 billion constellation of 3,232 satellites to provide high-speed internet service around the world. On Monday, June 16, ULA scrubbed the initial Project Kuiper 2 launch attempt about 35 minutes before liftoff, citing "an engineering observation of an elevated purge temperature within the booster engine." Billionaire Jeff Bezos' Project Kuiper: Round two. United Launch Alliance will launch the second batch of Amazon satellites into space − and it's possible people can see the Atlas V rocket far outside of Florida. When ULA launches its massive rocket, depending on cloud cover, Floridians (and visitors) as far as Jacksonville, Cape Coral and Miami could see it light up the sky after liftoff from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. All told, ULA will launch eight Atlas V and 38 Vulcan rockets on Project Kuiper missions. The Amazon initiative has also contracted with SpaceX, Blue Origin and Arianespace, upping the total to 80-plus pending launches. Launch delayed for Decatur-made rocket meant to send Amazon satellites into space
DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Decatur's United Launch Alliance rocket, meant to help Amazon satellites reach Earth's orbit, has been delayed. ULA was originally meant to send Amazon satellites to space in the Kuiper 2 mission on June 16. The launch was set to be from Cape Canaveral, Florida. CLICK HERE for News 19's Interactive Radar 🌩️🌦️☔ However, play-by-play status reports from Launch Control announced that the launch of the Atlas V 551 was delayed 'due to an engineering observation of an elevated purge temperature within the booster engine.' The rocket used in this mission was manufactured here in North Alabama. ULA in Decatur began preparations for the Kuiper 1 launch on Feb. 24 when the company stood up the Atlas V first stage aboard the mobile launch platform. In the days following, five side-mounted solid rocket boosters were fixed to the rocket to provide 'maximum launch performance.' Kuiper 1 launched into space on April 28. The rocket itself stands at 205 feet tall. The full put-together Atlas V rocket features a longer length payload fairing than standard to carry as many satellites as possible. ULA said this first launch was only the ninth time in 102 launches of Atlas V to use the larger fairing.
