Last Updated:
The ferocious Knight Riders powerhitter shared an in-depth account of how intense workouts and food choices help him keep fit.
Rinku Singh provided an in-depth account of fitness and diet routines that continue to play a great role in his inspiring journey. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match-winner shared fitness rituals he religiously follows before and after the game to maintain his tremendous ball-striking ability despite a lean physique.
Speaking on KKR's 'Train Like a Knight', the 27-year-old said gym and food are two most critical parts of his daily routine.
'Nothing, mostly I pay attention to my food and this time, like now, cricket is (mostly) T20, so staying fit is very necessary. Cricket has become so fast that you have to take care of everything. Gym, running, and also food," Rinku said during the interaction. 'Right now, I've started dieting. It's been 15-20 days. Because after a certain age, you have to do it, although I'm still only 27 (laughs)."

Rinku said he originally possessed a fit and lean body, but it was only when he began playing professional cricket that he learnt how to maintain certain physical standards on and off the field. The swashbuckling left-hander also said he didn't do any specific exercises growing up, which has changed now that he trains regularly.
'Now I am fond of fitness, I like keeping fit, going to the gym and following my daily routine. I find great joy in working out. When I started playing U-19 cricket, I started gym. When I played U-16 cricket, I had no idea about the gym and only knew running. So when I played U-19s and senior cricket, I got a fair idea about the gym and why staying fit and strengthening the muscles is key," said Rinku, who pressed on the benefits of gymming for his strong core, muscles, and stamina in play during his batting.
Rinku also talked about his food choices and how working with professional nutritionists has opened his eyes to green veggies from a chicken-based diet initially. The cricketer admitted feeling great changes inside him ever since shifting to a carefully planned diet.
'I don't feel any tightness or soreness in my muscles," he said while revealing he starts his day with warm water and eats eggs, poha and dosa for breakfast.
Rinku advised youngsters to eat well but also burn everything in their routines and named squats as his favourite gym exercise. The ferocious hitter has played 12 matches of KKR's IPL 2025 campaign with a strike rate of 153.91.

'He's Doing The Best He Can': Manjrekar Backs Prasidh's Selection In Playing XI
Last Updated: Prasidh was preferred over Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh in India's playing XI for the ongoing first Test of the five-match series against England. Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar on Sunday (June 22) backed Indian team management's decision to include Prasidh Krishna in the playing XI for the ongoing first Test against England in Leeds. According to Manjrekar, who has now donned the hat of an expert and commentator, Krishna is India's No. 2 seamer, and he is bowling better than Mohammed Siraj. He feels the Karnataka-based fast bowler is doing the best he can, and if he manages to get a couple of wickets, then it will help him build confidence, and he might get better. 'If you see Prasidh Krishna in this Test match as opposed to the Test he played for India earlier in South Africa, he's looked the best to me. Yesterday (Saturday, June 21), although he didn't quite get the wickets, he was still India's number two seamer. He was better than Mohammed Siraj, certainly more potent than Shardul Thakur. So, India made the right choice and went for him; this is Prasidh Krishna doing the best he can. With time, if he gets a couple of wickets and builds confidence, he might just get better and better. I will not be critical of Prasidh Krishna with the way he's bowled—he has done everything he possibly could to the best of his ability," Manjrekar said on 'Match Centre Live' after the first session on Day 3. After failing to take any wicket for India on Day 2 of the Leeds Test, Prasidh helped India get off to a flying start on Day 3, as on the first ball of his second over of the day, he dismissed Ollie Pope. The right-handed batter was caught behind by Rishabh Pant after making 106 runs from 137 balls with the help of 14 fours. Krishna, who last played a Test match for India against Australia in Sydney from January 3-5, 2025, managed to retain his place in the red-ball squad for the England tour by producing a super show for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. He played 15 matches for the Shubman Gill-led side in IPL this year and picked up 25 wickets, which was the most by any bowler. First Published: June 22, 2025, 19:46 IST

Mohammed Siraj 'wanted to instil fear'; heated exchange backfires as Harry Brook makes him suffer for exchanging words
Mohammed Siraj was expected to shoulder Jasprit Bumrah's responsibility in the absence of Mohammed Shami, but the India pacer, in just his first outing on the tour of England, gave his bowling partner more headaches than relief. Siraj became India's fourth centurion of the Headingley Test match, conceding 2/122, allowing England to pummel 466 in their first innings. But more than the wayward bowling, it was Siraj's attitude and reluctance to learn from his mistakes that infuriated more. It's no secret that Siraj loves to be aggressive, rile the opposition batter up. When it comes off, he looks like a million dollars, but when it doesn't, he reiterates the thin line that exists between looking sexy and looking stupid. India's Mohammed Siraj, right, and England's Harry Brook, left, exchange words on Day 3 of first Test(AFP) Also Read: India vs England, 1st Test Day 3 Updates Unfortunately, on Day 3 of the first Test at Headingley, it was the latter. Not only did Siraj bleed runs, but also looked like he was running out of ideas. Perhaps it was the same frustration that made him have a go at Harry Brook. In the 84th over, a ball from Siraj struck Brook on his pads. Siraj stood there looking at Brook before the batter finally retaliated with something. And that was all it took. Siraj muttered a few words back, and after a few back-and-forth words exchanged, Brook finally shushed Siraj away. That was all the England batter needed to get charged up, as after that incident, Brook went on to unleash a maddening carnage on the Indian bowlers. He looked set for a hundred, but after getting three reprieves, Brook hooked a ball from Prasidh Krishna right down Shardul Thakur's throat at fine leg to get out on 99. Siraj and Jaiswal breathed a sigh of relief, but that doesn't mask the overall picture – Siraj's aggression that needs to be controlled. Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who was on commentary, aptly summed up what's wrong with Siraj's aggression and why it backfires more often than it succeeds. Dinesh Karthik had a word with Mohammed Siraj during IPL 2025 "Interesting to see Siraj get a bit aggressive. Just have a look at him. Hits the elbow. Siraj had something to say. He likes to get aggressive. He was playing against RCB as well. He got aggressive. And then in one game, he came up against Phil Salt. The game was in Delhi. RCB were chasing and he thought it was the best way to get himself pumped it," Karthik said. "Siraj gave a few words back to Phil Salt and then Salt took off after that. After the match got over, I asked Siraj 'Why did you have to go after him? You were bowling so nicely. He said 'No, I just wanted to instil some fear'. I said but that's what he likes. He immediately turned and said 'You should have told me after before the game started. Not after I got hit'". Siraj's form with the ball has long been a concern for India. He was dropped from India's Champions Trophy squad, but after showing some spark in the IPL for Gujarat Titans, the pacer was picked in India's 18-member squad. Long way ahead, but Siraj should not mind fine-tuning a few things to get back to being a potent threat with the ball.
