'With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,' Savannah Guthrie said on the program. 'There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle's perfect partner in life.'
Ojeh was 45 years old, and leaves behind Jones and their three children. He had been a consultant with UAO Consulting for more than a decade. In a conversation on the program after announcing the heartbreaking news, Today co-anchor Craig Melvin shared that he last played golf with Ojeh last fall.
'We had a number of conversations about just life in general,' Melvin recalled. 'And one thing he always talked about, he talked about those kids. He loved those kids more than anything else in this world, and was just so proud. He was that dad that was on the sideline every soccer game. He was at all the concerts and the recitals. He was that guy.'
Jones has been on a leave of absence from the NBC morning show since December, and said in January that she was taking leave to deal with a family health matter.
Jones has been with the Today show for more than a decade, joining the morning program's weekend edition in 2014. She was named co-host of the show's third hour in 2019, where she worked alongside Dylan Dreyer, Craig Melvin and other talent from the program and NBC News.
Jones married Ojeh in 2007 after meeting at Northwestern University, where Jones was a freshman giving tours and Ojeh was a visiting high school senior. Ojeh proposed on the school's campus.

Johnny Depp doesn't regret Amber Heard trial: 'It had gone far enough'

To some, Johnny Depp's headline-making defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard was a stain on his gleaming Hollywood career. But despite the legal drama, Depp wouldn't change a thing. The Oscar-nominated actor reflected on the 2022 court battle in an interview with The Sunday Times published June 21. "Look, none of this was going (to) be easy, but I didn't care," he told the British outlet. "I thought, 'I'll fight until the bitter (expletive) end.' And if I end up pumping gas? That's all right. I've done that before." Depp sued Heard in 2019, claiming she defamed him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she said she was a victim of domestic abuse without specifically naming him. Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against the actor in May 2016, just days after filing for divorce, alleging Depp physically abused her various times during their 15-month marriage. As for their trial, a Virginia jury in 2022 awarded Depp more than $10 million in damages following six weeks of widely watched testimony, during which both parties and witnesses testified about alleged abuse throughout the couple's tumultuous relationship. "Look, it had gone far enough," Depp, 62, continued. "If I don't try to represent the truth it will be like I've actually committed the acts I am accused of. And my kids will have to live with it. Their kids. Kids that I've met in hospitals. So the night before the trial in Virginia I didn't feel nervous. If you don't have to memorize lines, if you're just speaking the truth? Roll the dice." 'A soap opera': Johnny Depp shades Amber Heard defamation trial Heard won $2 million in damages from her countersuit over Depp's lawyer calling her claims a hoax. In December 2022, the former couple agreed to a settlement in the defamation case, with Heard paying Depp $1 million that he pledged to charity. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" alum also reflected on the professional fallout from the trial, including testimony from his former agent Tracey Jacobs. According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Jacobs testified that Depp's industry status was being increasingly undermined by his "unprofessional" on-set behavior, which allegedly included frequent tardiness. "There are people, and I'm thinking of three, who did me dirty. Those people were at my kids' parties. Throwing them in the air," Depp said. "And, look, I understand people who could not stand up (for me) because the most frightening thing to them was making the right choice. I was pre-MeToo. I was like a crash test dummy for MeToo. It was before Harvey Weinstein." 10 bingeable memoirs to check out: Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyoncé The legal troubles of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was indicted in May 2018 on charges of five sex crimes, are widely regarded as the tipping point for the #MeToo movement's impact on Hollywood. Weinstein was convicted on June 11 of a first-degree criminal sexual act in the retrial of his 2020 conviction on sexual assault and rape charges. Following the conclusion of his trial with Heard, Depp resumed his entertainment career with a starring role in 2023's "Jeanne du Barry," and directed the 2024 period drama "Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness." "Honestly? I didn't go anywhere," said Depp of his showbiz reemergence. "If I actually had the chance to split, I would never come back." TV host Zhu Dan apologises for her "bias" towards young male co-stars

23 Jun - TV personality Zhu Dan found herself having to apologise to netizens after sparking a heated online debate over her perceived bias toward males. The whole issue sparked earlier this month, after Zhu Dan, who is on the reality show, "Wonderland", gave two chicken drumsticks from a bowl of chicken soup to actors Winwin and Zhou Yiran while making a comment that "the boys are still growing" in one episode. On the other hand, she handed over the smaller chicken wings to younger actress Ouyang Didi and Chinese star Ning Jing. When Ning Jing questioned the logic behind Zhu Dan's distribution of the pieces of chicken and asked if she loved the boys more, Zhu Dan directly responded, "A little." She also made a comment when Zhou Yiran mentioned that he would prefer to have a daughter instead of a son, saying, "Opposites attract; parents are instinctively biased toward children of the opposite sex... Fathers love daughters more, and mothers love sons more." In response to her statement, netizens took to social media to criticise the way of thinking, saying that such an idea should not be the norm. They also dug up a past interview where Zhu Dan said that she arranged for her six-year-old daughter to be in the same class with her three-year-old son so that the sister could take care of her brother. Many questioned Zhu Dan's parenting style of putting the responsibility of caring for another on her daughter when she is also just a kid. In response to the criticisms coming her way, Zhu Dan recently posted a message on social media, writing, "Over the past few days, I've heard a lot of voices. I'm very sorry that my way of expressing myself has caused significant controversy and made people feel uncomfortable." At the same time, she refuted reports about her kids, saying, "We have never let our daughter repeat a grade. The children received mixed-age education during kindergarten (3-7 years old small, medium and large classes together)." (Photo Source: SINA)
