Tourists have been mesmerised by its charm, noting the plethora of literary havens and thematic shops on offer. Bookshops are nestled in castles, old cinemas and sprinkled across idyllic spots throughout the town, making it a paradise for reading enthusiasts. Amid the literary exploration, there are delightful eateries and an endearing sweet shop for visitors. Teg, better known as TegTries on TikTok, has hailed Hay-on-Wye as the quintessential destination for day-trippers, especially if you're an avid reader likely to depart laden with fresh literature.
Commonly referred to as Hay, this Powys market town boasts a vibrant community and over 20 bookshops, earning it the moniker "town of books". Not only does Hay celebrate its status as Wales' National Book Town, but it also annually welcomes literature fans at the celebrated Hay Festival.
As per the 2021 census data, the locale had a population of 1,675. To some, Hay-on-Wye ranks among the most desirable places to reside in Wales, gaining acclaim for its festive Christmas decorations. There's an abundance of reasons to cherish Hay-on-Wye.
