A second man was charged Saturday morning in connection with a police pursuit that led to the fatal shooting of Chicago police Officer Krystal Rivera in the Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Jaylin Arnold, 27, of the 8000 block of South Kimbark Avenue, was charged with one felony count of armed violence, three counts of possession of a firearm by a repeat felon and possession of a controlled substance. Arnold also had an arrest warrant in his name, police said.
Officials also said Arnold was a parolee at the time of his accused offenses.
He was taken into police custody Thursday morning by the police and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task in the 7500 block of South Vernon Avenue.
An earlier investigation surrounding the fatal shooting of Officer Krystal Rivera on June 5 in the 8200 block of South Drexel Avenue connected Arnold. The investigation also found Rivera died from friendly gunfire.

CUMBERLAND — A local radio station's reports that the city's police chief was removed from his job are not accurate, Cumberland officials said. WCBC radio Thursday reported Cumberland Police Chief Chuck Ternent was 'out' and 'has been relieved of his duties.' In response to questions from the Cumberland Times-News Friday, City Administrator Jeff Silka said via statement that the radio station's reports and social media posts need 'correction and clarification' regarding Ternent's employment status. 'After 32 years of loyal service to the city of Cumberland and its citizens, Chief Ternent has, for some time, been contemplating retirement in order to pursue other career opportunities which have become available,' Silka said. 'Recently, Chief Ternent has been off work addressing some health issues,' he said. 'In his absence, Lt. Eric Bonner will serve as acting chief.' 15-year-old arrested in Vacaville after stolen SUV crashes in construction zone

A 15-year-old was arrested on multiple felony charges after Vacaville police said a stolen vehicle crashed in a construction zone while trying to evade officers without their headlights on. Around 11 p.m. Friday, police received a report that a vehicle was stolen from the front of a home. By 3 a.m., officers said city cameras captured the vehicle on Leisure Town Road, where officers found it a short time later with no headlights on. Police said the driver turned onto Ulatis Drive and continued to flee officers with no headlights on. "It's anybody's guess as to whether the proper use of the headlights would have alerted to the driver to the multiple "Road Closed" signs and traffic delineators," police said in a news release. The driver crashed through the signs and entered a dirt construction area of Leisure Town Road and over a new concrete center median, where the SUV rolled onto its side. There were three 15-year-olds in the vehicle who complied with officers' commands, police said. One teen, the driver, was found in possession of multiple flat head screw drivers and a USB cord, which police said are often used when stealing certain vehicles. He was booked into juvenile hall. The other teenagers were released to their parents.
