RITES is the lowest bidder (L-1) in the financial bid of the QCBS tender floated by Gujarat Urban Development Company for Appointment of TPI agency for WSS/UGD/STP projects under Amrut 2.0/SJMMSVY under GUDC for ULBs of Gujarat.
The order is subject to award after the due process of scrutiny and overall evaluation (technical and financial) by the Gujarat Urban Development Company as per the requisite requirements mentioned in the tender documents. The estimated value of the bid is Rs. 28.50 crore excluding GST.

Work on major drinking water projects in Kochi inaugurated

KOCHI: The work on two 15-lakh litre water tank projects sanctioned under KWA's Amrut 2.0 sheme for Kochi Corporation was inaugurated by Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine at an event held in Pallimukku on Saturday. The project approved last year with an estimated cost of Rs 15.51 crore includes construction of a 15 lakh litre over-head tank and a 15 lakh litre on-ground tank in Ward 60 in Perumanoor. The project aims to ensure smooth water supply to General Hospital and Thevara zones. The project is expected to be completed in a year. Additionally, work on Karumalloor- Kunnukkara drinking water scheme of Kalamassery municipality was also inaugurated on Saturday. The project is aimed at solving the drinking water requirements of residents in Kunnukara-Karumalloor panchayats. The Rs 51.30-crore project that will be implemented using KIIFB funds includes a 20 mld water treatment plant, an over-head tank in Malayikunnu, pumping stations, a 10.50 lakh litre overhead tank in Manjali, and a 250mm DIK9 clear main line to UC College overhead tank. The capacity of the project has been increased to 20mld to include Alangad panchayat as well in the distribution network. 'The project aims to ensure adequate drinking water supply to Kunnukara and Karumalloor areas for the next 50 years,' said Industries Minister P Rajeeve who spoke at the inaugural function of the event.

Now, UP cities to be monitored on basis of green initiatives

LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Friday approved the urban green policy aimed at driving sustainable, eco-friendly growth in urban local bodies. Under this, a green city monitoring system will be developed to evaluate and award green star ratings to cities based on their environmental efforts and green infrastructure. The policy will give new shape to cities with development of vertical and rooftop gardens besides Miyawaki forests. The state cabinet by circulation approved the proposal, which was a revolutionary step for environment conservation in accordance with the vision of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The urban green policy was an important step in the direction of environment conservation and help reduce the impact of climate change, said an official spokesman. The objective of the policy is to boost green initiatives and efforts for sustainable and inclusive development. 'This policy will be a game changer and targeted intervention for urban greening,' said principal secretary Amrit Abhijat. Under the provisions of the policy, a three-tier strategy would be adopted to boost green initiatives at the level of cities, localities and buildings. Mini dense forests would be developed expeditiously in urban areas through the Miyawaki forest concept. At the same time, green fairs would be organised in cities to boost green initiatives and develop green belts, sponge parks and low emission zones. At the locality level, schemes would be worked out for development of community gardens, pocket parks and adoption of parks. Green building standards would be made mandatory for construction of new buildings with use of environment friendly material, energy saving technology and green roofs would be encouraged. The policy provides for financial assistance with coordination between the centre and the state government. The financial assistance may be procured from Amrut 2.0, national clean air programme, central and state finance commissions. Besides, urban local bodies may mobilise their own resources and also get funds from CSR and other sources. The policy paves way for setting up of green city monitoring framework and the state's cities will be ranked as green +, green ++ and green +++ on the basis of green initiatives, and cities with high rankings will get awards. The policy will be implemented in three phases. In the first phase (2025-2027), it will focus on smart cities and main metropolitan towns. In the second phase (2027-2030), cities with a population of 1 lakh and above will be covered. The policy will be implemented in nagar palikas and nagar panchayats in the third phase after 2030.

Now, Trichy residents can avail instalment option for UGD deposits

Trichy: Trichy corporation has, for the first time, introduced an instalment-based payment option for house service connection deposits, to ease the financial burden on residents seeking new underground drainage (UGD) connections under the ongoing UGD project phases, the . This move comes in response to reluctance, particularly among residents of low-income areas, to pay the full deposit amount upfront. The new instalment facility aims to encourage more households to opt for legal UGD connections, thereby reducing the risk of untreated wastewater being discharged into stormwater drains. Phases II and III of the UGD project will cover 24 wards in the city, where a complete underground sewage network will be laid to handle three types of wastewater: fecal waste from toilets, grey water from bathrooms, and wastewater from kitchens. Even properties in economically weaker areas that lack private toilets and rely on public sanitation facilities will be provided UGD connections for non-fecal wastewater. This wastewater will be channelled to sewage treatment plants for proper treatment and disposal. The civic body is targeting at least 3,500 UGD connections per ward in all 24 wards, covering both residential and commercial properties that are registered for property tax. However, the non-refundable deposit amount—ranging from 7,500 to 20,000 depending on the location and type of property—was proving to be a financial hurdle for many, as both residents and traders have expressed their inability to pay at one go. "We are accepting the payment in 10 instalments now. Both residential and commercial property owners can make use of the option and obtain UGD connections," a corporation official said. The local body has planned to promote the availability of instalment options among low-income group areas, to encourage new UGD connections, particularly in Ariyamangalam and Thiruverumbur areas. Trial run for phase II and phase III of UGD projects is planned in the next three months to commission both the UGD network and a new sewage treatment plant (STP) built at Keela Kalkandarkottai.
