Western Yilgarn secures new exploration licences in Western Australia's Gascoyne Region

Yahoo07-05-2025

Western Yilgarn has acquired new exploration licences, expanding its gold portfolio within the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia.
The licences, covering an area of 201km², are located just 8.7km from the high-potential Glenburgh Gold Project.
The newly secured ground lies over a highly fertile craton margin and metamorphic belt terrane, with the potential for significant gold mineralisation.
The licences are fully owned by Western Yilgarn and fall within the Dalgaringa Supersuite, which hosts the Glenburgh Gold Project.
The company said that the region has been recognised for its gold potential in recent decades but remains underexplored, offering a substantial opportunity for new discoveries.
Exploration activities are already under way, including comprehensive geological and geophysical analysis aimed at identifying prospective gold drilling targets.
The Gascoyne Project area is situated approximately 300km east of Carnarvon by road, with access from the west via Meekatharra-Carnarvon Road or from Jack Hills through Milly Milly station.
Western Yilgarn non-executive director Pedro Kastellorizos said: 'We are extremely pleased to secure the Gascoyne Gold Project as it provides excellent potential to delineate gold resources similar to the Benz Mining Glenburgh mineralised gold system, which now expands over 50km in length.
'The company has the same geological lithologies as the Glenburgh Gold Project located to the north of the current tenements. We have now commenced a geological and geophysics review for the purposes of delineating gold targets to commence ground exploration activities.'
In addition to this expansion, Western Yilgarn's management team has recently undergone a strategic restructure.
This included divesting from international subsidiary projects and acquiring new, highly prospective land holdings in some of Australia's emerging nickel-gold regions.
"Western Yilgarn secures new exploration licences in Western Australia's Gascoyne Region" was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.

AI Impact Awards 2025: Mercedes-Benz Redefines Luxury in Its New Vehicles

Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A new generation of Mercedes-Benz vehicles allows owners to experience the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of their daily life. Starting with the CLA-Class model, Mercedes-Benz's next-generation infotainment operating system will incorporate AI search results, customizations and recommendations. "We will excite our customers with a full rollout of uncompromising cars. They will be an intelligent part of their life. All of them come with a fully integrated tech stack and leverage the latest developments in AI," Markus Schäfer, member of the board of management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG and chief technology officer for development and procurement at Mercedes-Benz, said during the company's Capital Markets Day presentation earlier this year. "The CLA represents our first software-defined vehicle – the cleverest car we've ever made, so it made perfect sense to showcase what's possible when AI is built into the foundation rather than added afterward. We're not just launching a new car – we're introducing a new category of vehicle that learns, adapts, and grows with you. The CLA gives us the perfect platform to demonstrate that luxury isn't just about materials and craftsmanship anymore – it's now also about intelligence that understands you," Magnus Östberg, chief software officer at Mercedes-Benz AG, told Newsweek. Mercedes-Benz has been utilizing AI in various projects for decades, dating back to 1996 when machine learning was first introduced into vehicles. "We actually have been building toward this moment since we established our Silicon Valley R&D hub in 1994 – 30 years of preparation. The technology has finally caught up to our vision. We're not chasing AI trends; we're delivering capabilities we've been developing for decades. Plus, with over 3 million vehicles already using our AI features (ChatGPT), we've proven that we can deploy this technology at scale, not just in concept cars," Östberg said. AI Impact Winner: Mercedes-Benz AI Impact Winner: Mercedes-Benz Newsweek Illustration Mercedes-Benz is the winner of Newsweek's AI Impact award in the category of Best Outcomes, Automotive/Transportation UX Systems for the luxury experience it offers owners by utilizing AI to transform vehicles into empathetic, hyper-personalized assistants. It was recognized as one of 38 winners of Newsweek's AI Impact Awards 2025 across more than a dozen categories recognizing excellent across a number of industries. "Luxury used to be about what your car had – now it's what it can do for you. True luxury means technology that disappears into the background until the exact moment you need it, then delivers precisely what you want. The process is invisible, seamless, and secure, providing fast and accurate answers every time. It's the difference between owning a sophisticated machine and having an intelligent and empathetic companion," a Mercedes-Benz spokesperson said. Modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles are a combination of intelligence and emotion. They are created with quality, safety, comfort and design in focus. Three types of AI carry the baton from that point: conversational, behavioral and agentic. Interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan with artificial intelligence-enabled infotainment system shown. Behavioral AI delivers a proactive user interface experience with personalized recommendations and next-level automated driving. Agentic AI takes it a step further with hyper-personalized user experience. As more AI-enabled functionalities are brought to market, Mercedes-Benz vehicle owners can rest assured that the company has put privacy and safety at the forefront, keeping full control over all data, customer interfaces, sensors and actuators. The hyper-personalized and immersive experience that allows comes courtesy of the implementation of ChatGPT and Google Gemini. ChatGPT powers the natural dialogue functionality of the system, while Gemini provides conversational navigation about location details like restaurant ratings and popular dishes. selects the best agent based on the voice prompt given by the user, in the back end. MBUX Surround Navigation includes spatially aware navigation details that are technologically layered on top of conversational navigation information. It offers best-in-class Google and AMAP routing and is also updatable in nearly real-time. AI allows users to have conversations with their car's computing system, with contextual memory. The software has an awareness of previous exchanges in order to refine query results. Further, AI enables an owner's car to learn their preferences and generate query results based on those. Unlike many competitors' AI-enhanced technologies, provides a seamless connection between an AI assistant and the vehicles' complex systems. Users can utilize the technology to adjust climate control, interact via voice and control ambient lighting, among other functions. "Mercedes-Benz sees artificial intelligence (AI) as a groundbreaking technology and an opportunity for even more innovative products, processes and services. We have been using AI for many years in various projects along the entire value chain to improve products and processes as well as to automate repetitive routine tasks or support creative tasks. The goal: to continuously offer better solutions for our customers, to make the everyday work of our employees easier and to strengthen our competitiveness," Östberg said. Other Places Where Mercedes Is Using AI The company plans to utilize AI more extensively in its manufacturing operations in the future. By adopting a digital-first approach, the company will use digital twins to allow greater production plan flexibility, easing obstacles in production ramp-up times and retooling ahead of implementation, lessening the interruption of real-world production. AI will be used to streamline processes, building on the 19 percent reduction in fixed costs that the company achieved between 2019 and 2024. An additional 10 percent reduction is expected in the next three years. Additionally, Mercedes has adopted AI-enhanced Apptronik Apollo humanoid robots to perform some manufacturing tasks. Initial testing with Apollo focuses on production, with the robots performing repetitive tasks within internal logistics operations, transporting components or modules to the production line. The company's skilled human workers then assemble and conduct initial quality checks on the transported items. Motorsports Fueling Women's Passion for Off-Track Car Experiences

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Today's car companies have many irons in the fire. Not only are they tasked with engineering, manufacturing and selling the cars of today and tomorrow, but they also have their hands in clothing and accessories collaborations, movies and motorsports. Motorsports have been a foundational interest in the auto industry since its advent. In recent years, the audience for car racing has hit new highs, thanks in large part to the widespread use of social media amongst drivers and teams, and the success of Netflix's Drive to Survive docuseries about Formula 1 (F1) racing. Jerry Bruckheimer's new film, F1, is looking to ride that high to box office success. The movie stars Hollywood's Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and Kerry Condon as well as F1 drivers Max Verstappen, George Russell, Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton, who co-produced the film with Pitt, Bruckheimer and others. Mercedes-Benz plays a prominent part in the film, just as it does on F1 circuits across the globe. Its performance arm, Mercedes-AMG, is an official promotional partner of Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures. The company's SL, G-Class and GT are featured on screen, as are the Mercedes‑AMG Official FIA F1 Safety Car and Medical Car. Mercedes-AMG also worked with the production team to create the race cars used in the movie. A new model, the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition, was created to align with the movie. Its name and styling celebrate the film's fictional APXGP Formula 1 team. Damson Idris stands next to the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition on a track. Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-Benz USA Chief Marketing Officer Melody Lee, who will be appearing on stage as part of Newsweek's Women's Global Impact event on August 5 in New York City, told Newsweek, "I think it's going to be a great classic American, July 4th blockbuster." Photo-illustration by Newsweek/Mercedes-Benz/Getty Lee sees the impact of the movie going further than just the box office. "I think that one movie is going to be great for the sport, for all fans of the sport, and I think it's going to bring new fans to the sport," she said. A study released late last year by Nielsen Sports revealed that F1 is the most popular annual sporting series with an audience of 750 million viewers. Over the last three years, interest in F1 has grown 5.7 percent globally, with approximately 50 million new fans following the sport since 2021. Women are at the core of that movement. Women comprise 41 percent of the F1 fan base, the study revealed. Further, 16–24-year-old females are the fastest-growing fan segment. Appealing to audiences young and old (and in between) is one of the reasons why Mercedes got involved in the film. "If you've been around for 140 years, like Mercedes-Benz has when it celebrates that anniversary next year, there's an understanding that the brand has to appeal to multiple generations. It cannot only sell to the ones that can afford the car. It also has to sell itself as a dream and as an aspiration to the younger generations," Lee said. "That's why I always talk about my 11-year-old, who has posters of cars that he has no money to afford. But, that kid is already dreaming about Mercedes-Benz. He's already dreaming about McLaren. He's already dreaming about other car brands. It's really incumbent upon us as an aspirational brand to ensure that we're thinking as much about the next generation as we are about the ones that are here now. So that's the only way we preserve the legacy of 140 years," she continued. Mercedes-Benz is leveraging its motorsports presence in new ways this year. The company activated at the Miami Grand Prix, creating a hub that showcased the strength of the brand while giving enthusiasts a trackside seat for a weekend full of action, including the F1 Academy race. Miami Race Day activation by Mercedes-Benz across from Wynwood Walls during the Miami GP. Miami Race Day activation by Mercedes-Benz across from Wynwood Walls during the Miami GP. Mercedes-Benz F1 Academy is a series where budding female race car drivers compete against each other on the same circuits where F1 competes. Its efforts are led by famed former racer Susie Wolff and supported by other global racing superstars, including Jamie Chadwick. Mercedes fields a team in that series, led by 21-year-old driver Doriane Pin, who finished with the Vice Champion title last season and currently sits atop the series' standings. This year, F1 Academy is getting the Netflix treatment that F1 has. It is the subject of its own docuseries, F1: The Academy, produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine media company. Women's interest in cars off the racetrack is growing too. As part of her job, Lee has participated in Mercedes-AMG driving experiences throughout the U.S. "I went to the one in Sonoma [California] last fall, right before Pebble Beach, and then I went to the AMG's On Ice that we did in Crested Butte, Colorado this past February. And one of the most interesting things that I saw is that there are women who are signing themselves up for these programs. Melody Lee puts on a helmet at a Mercedes-AMG Experiences program. Melody Lee puts on a helmet at a Mercedes-AMG Experiences program. Mercedes-Benz "No longer, is it a partner or a spouse or a daughter that's tagging along with a guy for the program. There were women there who had brought themselves there on their own, and even drove by themselves... These women are coming out because of this rising interest in performance and technology and motorsports and all of it coming together. We will continue to use AMG Experiences as a platform for women," she said.
