Rath Yatra 2025: Preparations for the much-awaited annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot festival or Shree Gundicha Yatra, are in full swing as the auspicious procession is set to commence soon.
As per Drik Panchang, the Ratha Yatra of the four deities will take place on June 27, Friday, in Puri, Odisha. The annual celebrations take place on the second day during Shukla Paksha of Ashada month, according to Hindu calendar.

One of the four Hindu pilgrimage centres of Char Dham - Jagannatha temple is the centre of festivities every year where Lord Jagannatha is worshipped along with his brother Balabhadra and his sister Devi Subhadra.
As per sacred text Skanda Purana, it is believed that the Supreme Lord of the cosmos, Shree Hari, rides his chariot to Gundicha Temple to fulfil his divine promise.
Anavasara – The observance of this occasion began June 13 and will conclude on June 26.

The nine-day festivities begin with Rath Yatra and will conclude with Niladri Bijay on July 5.
Devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Prayagraj will be participating in the Jagannath Rath Yatra on June 29. The Rath Yatra will kick off from Hira Halwai Crossing at 4:00 PM on Sunday will culminate at the KP ground. On its route, the procession will pass through Subhash Chauraha and Hanuman Mandir, TOI reported.
"ISKCON is organising the yatra on the 29th, instead of the 27th, as it being a Sunday, we wish to give more and more people the opportunity to get the blessings," TOI quoted temple president Achyuta Mohan Das as saying.
Followers of Krishna participated in Rath Yatra recently that took place in Scotland. Indian Embassy in Scotland in a post on X said, 'Vice Consul joined the vibrant #Rathayatra Festival in Edinburgh, organised by ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), highlighting India's cultural and spiritual contributions to the world. Lord Provost of Edinburgh also joined in sweeping the path before the chariot.'

The annual Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas is commencing from July 3 this year. Every year lakhs of pilgrims visit the shrine which is at a height of 3,880 metre in south Kashmir Himalayas passing through treacherous mountain passes and ice fed streams. The government this year declared the Amarnath Yatra routes as no-flying zones from July 1 to August 10, banning drones, balloons and other objects. Consequently, the Shrine Amarnath Yatra Shrine Board on June 18 announced that there will no helicopter services for pilgrims during the yatra. All pilgrims planning to visit the shrine this year will have to trek on foot or avail the services of ponies and palkis from both Pahalgam and Baltal base camps.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced special trains between Visakhapatnam-Puri-Visakhapatnam, Jagdalpur-Puri-Jagdalpur and Rayagada-Khurda Road-Rayagada for the ensuing Rath Yatra-2025 (Car festival) of Sri Jagannath Swamy at Puri. The special trains are: 08313 Visakhapatnam-Puri special train via Haripurgram, Arugul will leave Visakhapatnam at 00.45 hours on June 27 and on July 5 (past midnight of June 26 and July 4) and will reach Puri on the same day at 12 noon. In the return direction, 08314 Puri -Visakhapatnam special train will leave Puri at 2.15 a.m. (early hours of June 28 and July 6) to arrive in Visakhapatnam on the same day at 1 p.m., according to K. Saandeep, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division. The special train will have stoppages at Simhachalam, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram, Chipurupalli, Ponduru, Srikakulam Road, Tilaru, Kotabommali, Naupada, Palasa, Mandasa, Sompeta, Ichapuram, Brahmapur, Chatrapur, Ganjam, Huma, Rambha, Khallikote, Chilika, Balugaon, Gangadharpur,Kuhuri, Kaluparaghat, Bhushandpur, Nirakarpur, Kaipadar Road, Arugul, Haripurgram, Motari, Kanas Road, Delang, Jenapur Road, Birpurushottampur, Sakhigophal, Janakideipur and Malatipatpur.
