NI riots: Police release images of four individuals after disorder
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has released photos of four suspects they want the public to help identify after four nights of unrest in Northern Ireland.The disorder started on Monday after a peaceful protest over an alleged sexual assault in the County Antrim town but has spread to other areas.Police said 63 of their officers have been injured over four nights of violence after coming under "sustained attack with heavy masonry and fireworks".ACC Ryan Henderson said: "It is in all of our interests and in the interests of justice that those responsible are dealt with."
The first protest was organised hours after two teenage boys appeared before Coleraine Magistrates' Court.They spoke through an interpreter in Romanian to confirm their names and ages. Their solicitor said they would be denying the charges."In releasing these images, I am asking the wider community to step forward and help us to identify these people," ACC Henderson told a press conference on Friday.Police have made a total of 17 arrested following disorder in various parts of Northern Ireland.His message to those involved was: "We're actively taking steps to find you and we will bring you to justice.""Our public order inquiry team has been working night and day to identify those involved," he added.He also said police are investigating "those posting hate on social media".
The worst of the disorder was in Ballymena, but unrest also spread to other towns.In Portadown, County Armagh, on Thursday a crowd pulled bricks and masonry from a derelict building which they threw at police.ACC Henderson said: "police came under significant and sustained attack from rioters. It was clear that those involved were intent on destroying homes and businesses within the town and on attacking police.""The police lines came under attack from heavy masonry, fireworks, petrol bombs and beer kegs," he added. In Larne, masked youths attacked a leisure centre and set it on fire on Wednesday. The centre had been providing emergency shelter for families following the clashes earlier this week.The home of a family with three children was set on fire in Coleraine on Thursday night, in what ACC Henderson called: "an awful, hate-motivated attack".The constable appealed for "calm" over the coming weekend and said there will be a large police presence across Northern Ireland."For those thinking about causing disorder or coming to watch it, stay away, there will be consequences."

Seven charged after protest outside Iranian embassy in London
Seven men have been charged after two people were injured during a protest outside the Iranian embassy in west London. The Metropolitan Police said officers responded to reports of a fight in Knightsbridge shortly after 9.50am on Friday. Two men involved in an altercation outside the embassy in Prince's Gate, which borders Hyde Park, were taken to hospital. The men, aged 37 and 39, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. Eight men were arrested in connection with the incident, including the injured 39-year-old. Seven of them were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a spokesperson for the force said. The men, who are all Iranian nationals, have been remanded into custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday. Those charged are: Mohammad Nadiri, 30, of Islington; Pourrezaei Vahid, 41, of Cricklewood; Armin Hasanlov, 35, of Liverpool; Esmaeil Balouchy, 50, of Brentford; Saeed Hosseingholipoor, 34, of Mitcham; Farzin Suleimani, 31, of Birmingham; Aref Yazdan Parast, 31, of Isleworth. The Metropolitan Police previously said the incident is thought to have involved both "pro and anti-Iranian" government protesters. The force imposed conditions to stop protesters from gathering in the area until 1pm on Sunday.

When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence. It comes after The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the woman arrested for the alleged murder was once a contestant on reality show Beauty and the Geek. South Australia Police have confirmed the victim and the accused were known to each other and had been in a relationship. The woman was refused police bail and remains in custody. Assistant Commissioner Parrott said a cause of death had not yet been determined and no further details could be released, as the victim's family had not yet been notified. The woman did not apply for bail and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She is expected to return to court in December. The suppression order is set to be reviewed by the court next week. Johnstone rose to fame as a contestant on Beauty and the Geek in 2021 when she was crowned winner alongside her match Lachlan Mansell. The pair broke down in tears as host Sophie Monk announced they'd won the life-changing $100,000 cash prize.

Cookstown: Two rescued from flat after arson attack
Two people had to be rescued after an overnight arson attack on a flat in Cookstown, County Tyrone, police have said.A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were inside the property in Princess Avenue when an accelerant was poured through the letterbox on the front door and set removed the pair from the building and put out the blaze. Another fire at an outbuilding close to the property was also blaze was reported shortly after 00:50 BST on Sunday. A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service ( NIFRS) said the woman was taken out of a downstairs window, while the man was removed from the kitchen."The male and female were treated at the scene by colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, then taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation," said a police spokesperson."Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances and at this stage, the incident is being treated as deliberate ignition."
