Two Singaporean men were arrested in Thailand on 17 June, along with a Thai national, for their alleged roles in running a transnational vice syndicate, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said on Wednesday (19 June).
The Singaporean suspects, aged 36 and 38, and the 50-year-old Thai man, were arrested in a joint cross-border operation between the SPF and the Royal Thai Police (RTP). The operation saw assets worth over 20 million baht (S$790,600) seized, including luxury condos, cash, mobile devices and SIM cards. The SPF also froze over S$1.26 million in suspected criminal proceeds held in a Singapore bank account belonging to the 38-year-old man.

Investigations started in 2023 and revealed that the syndicate allegedly recruited foreign women and deployed them to Singapore as vice workers. From April 2023 to May 2025, at least 76 such women linked to the operation have been arrested, and the SPF said the resulting investigations "established useful information" against the syndicate.
Singapore's Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Yeo Yee Chuan said, "The SPF is committed to working closely with our regional partners, and we thank the RTP for their invaluable collaboration in dismantling this criminal network to prevent the exploitation of women, stem the scourge of transnational crimes and take affirmative actions against the laundering of criminal proceeds."

California man suspected of killing 90-year-old father arrested in Switzerland
Authorities on California's Central Coast said a man suspected of killing his 90-year-old father has been arrested in Europe on suspicion of murder and is awaiting extradition back to the United States. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that 54-year-old James Smallwood was arrested by authorities in Switzerland on May 29 in connection with the death of 90-year-old Robert Smallwood. According to deputies, relatives of the elder Smallwood reported him missing on May 18 after they were not able to contact him for several days. The following day, detectives and the sheriff's office Search and Rescue Team searched his property on Jarvis Road near the community of Scotts Valley. During the search, police located a deceased person, later identified as Robert Smallwood. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be homicide. A joint investigation by detectives and the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office "quickly" determined that James Smallwood was the suspect, deputies said. According to the sheriff's office, James had been living with his father and had fled to Switzerland before his father's body was discovered by authorities. With the help of the Swiss government, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, James Smallwood was located and taken into custody. Additional details about his arrest were not immediately available. "We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the SCSO Search and Rescue Team, the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office, our Forensics Unit, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and Swiss authorities for their critical assistance throughout this investigation," the sheriff's office said Thursday. James Smallwood remains in custody of Swiss authorities pending extradition proceedings. Upon his return to Santa Cruz County, he will be booked on charges of murder, elder abuse, vehicle theft and identity theft.

Max Miller during an incident in which Miller says he was driven off the road, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN. Rwandan opposition leader arrested over alleged plot against authorities
KIGALI, Rwanda (AP) — A prominent opposition leader in Rwanda has been arrested on charges she assisted an alleged plot to incite public unrest. Victoire Ingabire was arrested on Thursday and is being detained in the Rwandan capital of Kigali. Her team of international lawyers in a statement called her arrest 'baseless and politically motivated.' The Rwanda Investigations Bureau links Ingabire to alleged subversion after her name was mentioned in an ongoing criminal case against nine people accused of plotting to overthrow the government of President Paul Kagame. The Rwanda Investigations Bureau said it was probing her alleged role in creating a criminal gang. Ingabire appeared in court Thursday to be questioned by prosecutors who charged that she had been communicating with the nine suspects. Among the suspects is a journalist named Theoneste Nsengimana. The rest are members of the DALFA-Umurinzi group, a party led by Ingabire that is not recognized by authorities. Ingabire previously led the FDU-Inkingi group, a coalition of opposition parties that also was never permitted to register with the government. Ingabire spent 16 years in exile in the Netherlands and returned to Rwanda to launch an opposition political movement in 2010 but was imprisoned before she could contest the presidential election.
