2025 Nissan Patrol Review
Marking the debut of its seventh generation, the all-new 2025 Nissan Patrol represents a significant leap forward for the iconic SUV. Unlike a quick first-look, our ArabGT team chose to spend extended time with the vehicle, collecting real-world feedback from actual owners to offer a well-rounded, in-depth review. The result is a comprehensive look at a model that's not just refreshed—but redefined.
Exterior Design
While this review focuses primarily on performance and features, it's worth noting the 2025 Nissan Patrol's exterior matches its elevated mechanical evolution. The design aligns more with premium global SUVs, drawing comparisons to luxury American and German rivals in presence and quality.
2025 Nissan Patrol Interior
Inside, the 2025 Patrol shows substantial upgrades in comfort and technology. The seats, redesigned using NASA-inspired Zero Gravity technology, offer superb comfort bolstered by excellent cooling, an effective massage system, and two generous 14.3-inch rear entertainment screens. Nissan's air conditioning system remains world-class, now enhanced with a Biometric Cooling feature that individually adjusts airflow based on each passenger's body temperature. The cabin is quieter and more refined, with better material quality throughout.
Mechanical Specifications
Two engine choices are available for the new Patrol. The flagship Platinum Full Option model features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 425 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. This engine offers robust performance and impressive daily driving dynamics. However, repeated high-performance demands revealed a drop in acceleration consistency, likely due to heat management software that prioritizes durability.
The second option is a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6, producing 316 hp and 386 Nm of torque. Though more modest on paper, it proves reliable and consistent under load, making it ideal for off-road enthusiasts and those who prefer simpler, time-tested technology.
Suspension
The 2025 Patrol introduces Adaptive Air Suspension in higher trims, which dramatically enhances on-road stability and reduces body roll in corners. Front-seat comfort is excellent on highways and uneven surfaces. However, rear-seat passengers in the air-suspended variant reported discomfort over small bumps, hinting that the system still needs refinement. Conversely, models with traditional spring suspension offered a smoother experience for rear occupants, though they lack the dynamic advantages of air suspension during sharp turns.
Transmission and Brakes
A nine-speed automatic gearbox handles power delivery smoothly and efficiently. Shifts are seamless, and the system feels well-tuned for various driving conditions. The braking performance is also commendable, with responsive, confident stopping power and no noted faults.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The Patrol is equipped with an updated suite of safety and assistance technologies, including Nissan's ProPILOT system. While functional, the system can be overly sensitive—particularly around lane markings. Other features include front and rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag. A Head-Up Display and vastly improved 360-degree cameras further enhance safety and driver awareness.
2025 Nissan Patrol Price
In the UAE, the naturally aspirated 2025 Patrol starts at $65,320 (AED 239,900), rising to $87,920 (AED 322,900). The twin-turbo version begins at $81,120 (AED 297,900) and goes up to $105,900 (AED 388,900), depending on trim and options.

Mercedes Turns the Tables as Gasoline Engines Stay Alive
In a major shift from its previous long-term vision, Mercedes-Benz has restructured its strategy to give gasoline engines and hybrid powertrains a central role in its lineup well into the next decade. Moving away from an aggressive all-electric push, the automaker is now taking a more measured, market-driven approach—one that reflects real consumer demand rather than idealistic EV targets. A More Pragmatic Path Forward While Mercedes had previously committed to becoming an all-electric brand by 2030, shifting global dynamics have led the company to reassess that trajectory. Slowing electric vehicle uptake in Europe and North America, coupled with volatile battery prices and inconsistent government incentives, have revealed the limitations of an overly ambitious EV rollout. Rather than focusing solely on battery-electric platforms, Mercedes now plans to retain and refine its gasoline engines and hybrid systems. This updated approach reflects a more grounded response to evolving consumer behavior across global markets. Massive Investment to Modernize Engines This updated strategy is supported by substantial financial backing. Mercedes has allocated approximately €14 billion to upgrade its internal combustion and hybrid systems. These investments include enhancements to its renowned V6 and V8 powertrains to comply with stricter emissions regulations in both Europe and China. Through advancements in fuel efficiency and emissions performance, the company aims to keep traditional engines viable within tightening regulatory frameworks, while maintaining the performance and luxury standards expected of the brand. Responding to Global Market Trends Recent sales data played a role in shaping this new approach. In China—Mercedes' largest single market—vehicle deliveries declined significantly in 2024. Similar patterns have emerged in other key regions, prompting the brand to adopt a strategy that is both adaptive and diversified. Rather than focusing exclusively on electrification, Mercedes is choosing to offer a broader portfolio that includes EVs, hybrids, and next-generation combustion engines. This flexible approach enables the company to respond swiftly to shifts in demand across different geographic markets. The Dual Powertrain Strategy Development of Mercedes' dedicated electric vehicle platform, continues as scheduled, with its first models expected to debut mid-decade. However, gasoline engines, alongside hybrid powertrains, will remain a core part of the lineup for the foreseeable future—likely extending through the end of the decade and potentially beyond. This recalibrated strategy reflects a more flexible vision for the future of mobility. While electrification remains a central objective, preserving gasoline and hybrid options enables Mercedes to serve a wider range of customers, adapt to regional market differences, and manage the transition to lower-emission technologies without sacrificing performance or brand identity.

The Jimny Departs Europe with a Collector's Edition
The Suzuki Jimny is bowing out from Europe—again. After facing increasingly stringent emissions regulations, Suzuki gradually phased out Jimny sales in Germany and across the EU by mid-2024. Once a light commercial vehicle workaround extended its life, even that option has now come to an end. As a parting tribute, Suzuki is launching the Jimny 55th Anniversary Edition — a limited run of just 55 units exclusively in France. This model not only celebrates 55 years and over three million units sold worldwide, but also marks the final bow of the Jimny's current generation in Europe. What Makes the 55th Anniversary Edition Special Based on the French Privilège V.U. trim, this special edition draws visual inspiration from the Jimny Horizon — the edition that marked the model's farewell in Germany. The 55th Anniversary model includes several exclusive features: Numbered commemorative plaque at the center console Retro-styled grille, side decals, and rhino-branded accessories Unique color options: White, Jungle Green, Bluish Black, and Medium Gray Extras like rubber floor mats, leather keychain, and a custom leather-bound logbook A 4×4 training course offered to French customers to master its off-road potential Standard features remain generous, including air conditioning, heated seats, Bluetooth audio, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beam assist. Performance and Dimensions The Jimny 55th Anniversary is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine, delivering 102 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission. While it lacks the automatic gearbox option in this edition, the Jimny has previously offered a 4-speed automatic in global markets. Weighing in at just 1,090 kg (2,403 lbs) and measuring 11.4 ft in length, it remains both agile off-road and practical in tight urban environments. Thanks to its body-on-frame construction, AllGrip Pro 4WD system, and exceptional clearance angles (37° approach, 49° departure, 28° breakover), the Jimny continues to be a serious off-roader, not just a nostalgia piece. Availability and Global Continuation Orders for the 55th Anniversary Edition were open in France only from June 2 to June 10, with customer deliveries scheduled for later in the month. If you're not on the list, it's already too late. Still, this goodbye is not the end. The Jimny lives on outside Europe, with ongoing availability across Australia, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, India, and Latin America. It continues to evolve with new 5-door variants and is offered in both manual and automatic transmissions in select markets.
