#NSTviral: Reckless bus driver sparks online backlash after dangerous highway stunt
KUALA LUMPUR: An express bus driver is under fire after a video showing his dangerous driving went viral on social media, sparking public outrage and renewed concern over road safety.
The one-minute-plus video, uploaded on Threads by @mynewshub, shows the driver speeding in the right-hand lane, tailgating and aggressively cutting off other vehicles.
"He's driving like a maniac, speeding, swerving, cutting in and even flashing the middle finger. The company name and registration number are visible," read the caption.
The footage also shows the driver overtaking without signalling and allegedly making a rude gesture at another motorist.
The incident is believed to have occurred on a busy major highway, raising serious concerns about passenger and road user safety.
What drew further criticism was that the bus' number plate and company branding were visible, making it easy for netizens to identify the operator.
Several social media users claimed this was not the first time a bus from the same operator had been involved in reckless driving.
"Please take action against the company. Drivers should be more sensitive and maintain proper manners — don't behave like this.
"Last April, a bus from the same operator hit our Myvi. They said it was a blind spot issue while changing lanes. We didn't even lodge a report because I just let it slide," said one user.
Many called on authorities and the bus company to take swift action, with some questioning the operator's driver monitoring procedures and whether their staff are properly trained in safety and professionalism.

Stop politicising race just because car driver is China national (and accident victim a Malay)
A LIFE was lost in just a blink of an eye. But nobody wants an accident of such nature to happen. A horrifying video shared on X by MYNEWSHUB (@mynewshub) showed a vehicle travelling on the fast lane when the driver misjudged a corner, lost control and veered to the left before hitting a motorcycle head on, killing the motorcyclist instantly. The poster had claimed that the car driver was a China motional but did not reveal the identity of the victim. The tragic incident is believed to have occurred at 1.42pm pm on June 13 based on the dashcam of the vehicle owned by Zura Aziz which recorded the fatal accident at KM24.8 of the MEX Highway heading towards the Putrajaya toll booth. Pemandu Warga China Rempuh Penunggang Motosikal di Lebuhraya MEX, Mangsa Maut di Tempat Kejadian SERI KEMBANGAN – Seorang penunggang motosikal maut selepas dirempuh sebuah kenderaan yang dipandu warga China di Kilometer 24.8 Lebuhraya MEX menghala ke Plaza Tol Putrajaya. Mangsa… — MYNEWSHUB (@mynewshub) June 15, 2025 One netizen gave a heart-wrenching update, claiming that the motorcyclist is his neighbour in Terengganu. He was on the school run while his spouse was expecting their second child. The couple had been anticipating the arrival of a baby girl with great excitement. He further requested for Al-Fatihah prayers for the deceased while appealing for conveyance of only civilised comments to which a commenter who was shocked with the news claimed that the deceased was his roommate for three years when they were studying and were still in contact. This was when another netizen – presumably a lawyer – sought the deceased's contact details to offer legal services to his family. One commenter berated the poster for using 'race' and 'nationality' to stir emotions. Calling it 'rage bait' (as if the driver had purposely wanted to ram into the motorcyclist), she counselled that perhaps the poster should drop 'news' from its moniker – MYNEWSHUB – arguing that such was gutter journalism. Echoing this sentiment, another commenter contended that such headlines could create suspicions or wrong perception. Imagine if the headline had read that it was a 'Malay driver who killed the motorcyclist'. Unfortunately, there were enough who lapped up such quasi-racist reporting. One netizen hoped the victim's family will take civil action against the driver. Reasonable advice but one which was signed off with a racial slur. The government of the day lacked the political will to take necessary action against foreign nationals, argued another netizen. Again, a racial slur was used. There was also unfounded feeling among some that Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook is biased towards foreign nationals, in particular those from Chinese-speaking countries. Some were just unable to hide their racist tendencies at all, side-stepping the accident completely. Regardless of the race of the person at fault, quite a few netizens did point out that that particular stretch of road was dangerous and prone to accidents. Make absolutely no mistake – it is a tragic accident. But an 'accident' is what it is. People need to stop framing everything in racial terms. Would it had been reported similarly if the tables were turned where a Malay driver had killed a Chinese national? Such reporting and social media content that fuels such hate must stop. – June 17, 2025 Main image credit: MYNEWSHUB (@mynewshub)/X

Fake cops, real laughs: Bungling impostors try to stop car with fake siren
NOWADAYS, robbers and thieves are becoming more and more creative. Their methods are many, their victims uncountable. But sometimes, things can get to the point of being comical. Take for example a recent video on X which showed several 'police officers,' attempting to stop a moving car. However, even the average Joe can point out that there was something painfully obvious and wrong about the ride used by these officers. Even more hilarious was the fact that one of the officers slapped a siren at the top of the car just to make it look official. In the video, the officers could be seen signalling for the car to stop. Jangan berhenti…call polis dan terus ke balai…..ini sah penyamun — MYNEWSHUB (@mynewshub) June 12, 2025 'This is stupid. It is obvious these are not the police with three people wearing masks,' said netizen @ijakRashid who watched the video. Another netizen added that the police nowadays only ride in Honda Civic. However, another pointed out that they drove Honda City, and the premium Civics were reserved for the army. 'These people must be watching too many Hong Kong movies or dramas about police officers,' said @YtFrzz99609 while @nalvsamy claimed they wanted to cheat people although they were foolish. Then there was a sharp-eyed netizen who claimed it happened at the Guthrie highway, likely during the midnight till morning since the place lacks vehicles. Also, several others pointed out how easy it is to become a police officer nowadays since they could get the uniform and siren for cheap online. According to @nrhnsharol, the safety vest worn by the police officer could be bought at Mr DIY or at a hardware shop. But there appears to be more where this story is concerned. Apparently, the video was an old one, being identified by several netizens. @abgzulfikar said the perpetrators had already been apprehended, and good riddance too. News portal Harian Metro published a story on June 6, 2023, where police officers detained two men, including a civil servant, in relation to the incident, which happened at km 41.5 of the North-South Expressway heading north. Johor Police Chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, said a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kulai District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested the two local men, aged 43 and 48. In the video, three men posing as police used a beacon light resembling that of the authorities and attempted to instruct the victim to pull over. The account owner, named Freeman Gan, stated that he was chased by a car resembling a police vehicle while travelling from Singapore to Genting Highlands via the expressway. —June 14, 2025 Main image: @mynewshub (X)
