Tyler Perry accused of sexual assault, abuse of power, and retaliation by The Oval actor Derek Dixon; Perry calls it ‘a scam'
The Oval star Derek Dixon has slapped Tyler Perry with a $260 million lawsuit, accusing him of sexual assault, harassment, and abusing his power for years. The suit, filed in Los Angeles earlier this week, reveals that Dixon, who worked with the industry mogul, was pressured into uncomfortable sexual situations. The Ruthless star claimed Perry used his influence in the industry and his authority to manipulate him while guaranteeing career opportunities and support, but the actor-filmmaker allegedly used them to make sexual advances instead. According to the complaint, Dixon revealed that in 2021, he was at Perry's guesthouse when he was 'groped' while drunk.
The two reportedly met back in 2019, during the launch party of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Dixon, at the time, was working for an event company and was later handpicked by Perry from the crowd. The filmmaker asked him if he was an actor and took his number, telling him he might have a role for him, according to the court filing obtained by Page Six. Soon, Dixon was offered a role on The Oval, the show revolving around the U.S. presidency. The suit further includes multiple text exchanges between the two, showing how Perry made several sexual remarks and propositions over the years. Dixon claims Perry 'held direct control over his employment, compensation, and creative opportunities.' In his early days, Perry reportedly said his part, although small, could grow bigger, setting up what Dixon now describes as a 'quid pro quo' (do this for me, I'll do that for you) situation.

'Once the object of his desire was hooked, Tyler Perry would then put them in fear of losing it all unless they engaged in Mr. Perry's perverted desire for sexual gratification. Mr. Perry would easily 'kill off' a character in a show of an actor who failed to indulge Perry's sexual fantasies,' an excerpt of the filing read.
In January 2021, Dixon says Perry invited him to his Atlanta home. They had drinks, and Perry reportedly offered him a guest room for the night. That same night, Dixon claimed he rejected his sexual advances. Dixon also says he felt trapped. He didn't want to lose his role or upset Perry, so he didn't report the harassment immediately.
The lawsuit also details a trip to the Bahamas in October 2020, where Perry allegedly drank too much and assaulted Dixon again. In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 13, 2025, Dixon is accusing Perry of: assault, retaliation, battery, workplace abuse, and enforcing a coercive and sexually exploitative work environment, asking for damages worth at least $260 million.

Perry has denied all the accusations. His lawyer, Matthew Boyd, has slammed the lawsuit as 'fabricated claims of harassment.' In a statement to Variety, he said, 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.' Boyd said Perry will not give in and that they're confident the case will fall apart. 'But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.'

Taylor Swift breaks from Blake Lively after shocking betrayal as Travis Kelce becomes her emotional shield

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to sources close to the matter, the pop star is "deeply wounded" by how the situation has unfolded. Text messages and court drama reveal a hidden strain in the friendship The friendship, often displayed publicly at NFL games and star-studded events, came under scrutiny when Page Six reported that private text messages from Blake Lively were presented in court. In those messages, Lively referred to Swift as one of her 'dragons'—a reference to Game of Thrones, but interpreted by many as dismissive or even manipulative. Though Swift is not a party to the lawsuit, her indirect association has sparked media frenzy, with insiders claiming, 'even if she heals, the scar will remain.' The messages reportedly exposed a side of Lively that Swift never anticipated, casting doubt on the authenticity of their bond. 'The friendship Lively portrayed with Swift wasn't entirely accurate,' the source added, stating it was rooted more in lifestyle camaraderie than genuine personal connection. Travis Kelce stands by Taylor Swift as she distances herself from Lively Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Swift's current boyfriend, has reportedly pledged to protect her emotionally during the turmoil. The lawsuit's public nature has added stress to Swift's otherwise private life, especially as she balances her global Eras Tour with ongoing personal challenges. Jeff Bezos' wedding in Italy: Why Orlando Bloom will be there without Katy Perry
Jeff Bezos' wedding in Italy: Why Orlando Bloom will be there without Katy Perry As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez prepare for their extravagant wedding in Venice, Italy, the guest list is turning heads, and so is the absence of one major celebrity couple's full presence. Actor Orlando Bloom , who is confirmed to be attending the multiday celebration later this month, is going solo. His fiancée, pop icon Katy Perry , won't be joining him, and the timing has sparked renewed speculation about the state of their high-profile relationship. But is this a sign of serious trouble, or just an unavoidable scheduling conflict? Let's break down everything we know from Katy's tour dates to the ongoing rumours and how one of the world's most-watched weddings has quietly become a stage for celebrity gossip and digital buzz. Orlando Bloom will attend Bezos-Sánchez wedding without Katy Perry by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What She Did Mid-Air Left Passengers Speechless medalmerit Learn More Undo According to sources confirmed by TMZ, Orlando Bloom is expected to attend the Bezos-Sánchez wedding festivities in Italy alone. While the idea of Bloom showing up without Perry, his partner of more than seven years, has fueled speculation online, insiders point out that there's a practical reason for her absence: Perry is currently on a sold-out tour in Australia. The international pop star is performing a string of 15 shows across major cities, a tour that was scheduled months before Bezos and Sánchez finalised their wedding dates. That timing clash appears to be the only explanation for her absence, but with public interest in their relationship constantly under the spotlight, the optics have added fresh fuel to ongoing breakup rumours. Katy Perry's tour and the overlap with Bezos' wedding Katy Perry's Australian tour is a major event, drawing tens of thousands of fans and generating massive media attention. The tour, a blend of her biggest hits and new material, runs through the latter half of June and into early July, directly overlapping with Bezos and Sánchez's multiday wedding celebration in Venice. Given Perry's commitments, as reported by TMZ, including rehearsals, travel, and promotional obligations, it would have been logistically impossible for her to fly to Europe for the wedding without cancelling or rescheduling shows. Industry sources say Perry's tour was locked in before Bezos and Sánchez had even sent out invitations, making her absence more about prior professional obligations than personal drama. The relationship rumours: What's going on? Despite the practical reason behind Perry's no-show, the public has been quick to speculate about potential cracks in her relationship with Bloom. The couple got engaged in 2019 and share a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, born in 2020. Since then, they've maintained a relatively low profile when it comes to their private life, but as with most celebrity relationships, absence often breeds rumours. Recent headlines have pointed to fewer public appearances together and speculation from tabloid outlets about delays in their wedding plans. However, neither Bloom nor Perry has made any public comment suggesting their engagement is in jeopardy. Both have been spotted wearing their engagement rings and have publicly supported each other's work on several occasions in the past year. Jeff Bezos' Venice wedding: Drone shows, AI dinners, and a billionaire guest list While the celebrity guest list is drawing attention, so is the wedding itself. Jeff Bezos, Amazon's founder and executive chairman, is no stranger to spectacle. Sources suggest that the wedding will be a multi-day affair featuring top-tier security, luxury accommodations, and a heavy presence of the tech world's elite. Bezos has been gradually stepping back from daily operations at Amazon while shifting focus to ventures like Blue Origin and The Washington Post. His relationship with Lauren Sánchez, a media personality, helicopter pilot, and philanthropist, has been closely followed since they went public in 2019. Their wedding is expected to be a blend of old-world European charm and cutting-edge tech, think drone displays over Venetian canals, AI-curated dinner menus, and possibly even Blue Origin-branded wedding favours. Bezos wedding buzz: Who's attending, and who's not Orlando Bloom isn't the only A-lister expected to attend the Bezos-Sánchez nuptials. While the guest list has been kept largely under wraps, insiders say it includes major names from the entertainment, business, and political worlds. Expect appearances from tech billionaires, top Hollywood stars, and international figures from fashion and media.
