Tyler Perry hit with explosive lawsuit over alleged misconduct
Director and filmmaker Tyler Perry is facing a $260 million (4.69 billion ZAR) lawsuit. This was filed by an actor alleging sexual harassment, assault and professional retaliation. Actor Derek Dixon filed the lawsuit at the Los Angeles Superior Court in early June 2025. It highlights an array of alleged instances that occurred between 2019 and 2021. Dixon, who was cast in Perry productions like The Oval and Ruthless , said that Perry used his influence and his power to create a coercive working environment. Within this environment, career advancements were offered in exchange for Dixon entertaining sexual propositions. Dixon alleges inappropriate physical contact and two instances of assault, one of which he claims occurred at Perry's home in Atlanta, Georgia. The complaint also outlined what Dixon alleges he endured whenever he declined these advances. His roles were reduced and minimised and any prospects were no longer being afforded to him. His legal team has alluded to a pattern of this kind of treatment happening at the Tyler Perry Studios. Perry's legal team headed by Matthew Boyd was quick to oppose these claims, referring to the lawsuit as 'A baseless shakedown. There is zero truth to these claims and Mr Perry will defend himself vigorously,' Boyd stated. This news has made global headlines, and as of yet, no court date has been set. Dixon does run the risk of these claims being thrown out or dismissed and this could have adverse effects on his career but If Dixon is in the right, however, Perry's empire, which was built on upstanding morals and just intentions, might take a knock. This is the first time Perry has been linked to allegations of this nature. In 2012 he was involved in a case involving copyright infringement and in 2008 he was embroiled in a labour dispute with the Writers Guild. Tyler Perry Accused Of Sexual Harassment In $260M Lawsuit, Social Media Dissects His Alleged Text Messages
Source: Emma McIntyre / Getty Tyler Perry's the latest big Hollywood actor to be named in a sexual assault lawsuit. The entertainment mogul and Tyler Perry Studios are being sued for $260 million for allegedly mistreating actor Derek Dixon. According to ABC News , the filing includes quid pro quo sexual harassment, work environment harassment, sexual harassment, workplace gender violence, sexual battery, sexual assault, retaliation, and more. In the suit, Dixon claims he first met Perry in 2019 while working at a party he hosted. Perry later approached him and obtained his number, suggesting that he might have a role for him in one of his upcoming productions, reports TMZ . 'Perry said it was a small role that could get a lot bigger, thereby setting up the first stage in a series of escalating quid pro quo offers,' Dixon alleged in the lawsuit. The role turned out to be for his show Ruthless , and thus began the 'strange and untowardly' text message exchanges. Then, in January 2020, the conversation escalated to Perry inviting Dixon over to his home under the guise of a professional meeting. The two reportedly drank together and had a 'friendly' conversation, so at the end of the night, Perry suggested he stay in his guest room instead of making the trek back home, which is when he allegedly assaulted him. 'Before he knew what was happening, Dixon felt someone else slip into bed behind him and start rubbing Dixon's body around his inner thigh in a highly sexual and suggestive manner,' the suit alleged. 'Dixon turned around and saw that Tyler Perry was in bed with him.' After that night, Dixon tried to distance himself from Perry by ignoring his texts and calls, but was pulled back into his orbit when he was offered a role in his show, The Oval . 'Dixon immediately understood that his job security depended on his 'relationship' with Perry,' the lawsuit states. 'From this point on, Dixon worked with the constant fear of losing his job if he did not engage with and endure Perry's sexual harassment.' In another incident he claims that in June 2021 they were both at his Georgia home and Perry pulled down his underwear and grabbed his butt while asking for a 'good night hug' despite telling him to stop. 'Rather than arguing, Dixon complied, at which point Perry reached out and yanked Dixon's underwear down from behind,' the claims in the lawsuit stated. 'Perry then began to vigorously grab, grope, and play with Dixon's buttocks in a sexual manner. Dixon was naked, stunned, and seized by tremendous fear.' As part of a mountain of evidence pointing to the inappropriate relationship, Dixon provided flirty text conversations from him which CNN says included, ' What's it going to take for you to have guiltless sex?' and, 'I love how I feel right now but I don't like being horny.' Tyler Perry Accused of Sexual Assault in $260 Million Lawsuit
Yara Sameh US film and TV giant Tyler Perry is being sued for alleged sexual assault, battery, and workplace sexual harassment by an actor who worked with Perry for years. According to the complaint, Derek Dixon accused Perry of creating "a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic" between them while he was starring on the filmmaker's shows "The Oval" and "Ruthless", on which Dixon starred as a character named Dale. The complaint accused Perry of "initially promising him career advancement and creative opportunities, such as producing his pilot and casting him in his show, only to subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances." In response, Matthew Boyd, Perry's lawyer, said the lawsuit is a 'shakedown.' 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,' he said. 'But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.' Dixon claimed he met Perry in September 2019 when working the opening party for Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Dixon alleged that, over the next few months, Perry often texted him, sometimes with suggestive advances, but also that he wanted to find Dixon a job and change his life. In November 2019, Dixon claimed Perry offered him a small role on "Ruthless". Dixon claimed that Perry sexually assaulted him at Perry's home in January 2020, and the next month, he offered Dixon a series regular role on "The Oval", the complaint states. The actor alleged that upon reading the script for his first season, he discovered his character's fate was left up in the air in the finale. "Mr. Perry made it clear to Dixon that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon's character would 'die' in the next season," the complaint alleged. "Indeed, Dixon's character 'Dale' was shot four times in the chest at the end of his first season on 'The Oval,' and Perry always held this over Mr. Dixon's head, implying that 'Dale' would survive if Dixon kept Perry 'happy.'" Dixon recounted a moment after filming the scene in which his character was shot, Perry invited him to his trailer, where he allegedly pinned him to the wall of his trailer and began aggressively groping Dixon's backside in a sexual motion. In the complaint, The actor claimed he was similarly groped during a cast trip to the Bahamas in October 2020. Dixon alleged that in December 2020 he visited a physician who indicated that Dixon's "exhibited severe symptoms of acute stress, insomnia, stomach issues, and dangerously low cortisol levels due to the sexual harassment and assault" and prescribed him Zoloft, an antidepressant. Dixon claimed Perry invited him to his house again in June 2021 to discuss Dixon's pilot for his show "Losing It", which Perry had expressed interest in producing. He alleged he was again sexually assaulted by Perry at this meeting. Over the next five months, Dixon said he "suffered from severe depression, anxiety, stomach pains, and nausea" and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the alleged incidents. Dixon claimed that Perry's "fixers" offered him a raise to return to "The Oval" and that Perry would buy the right to produce his show, "Losing It". Dixon informed Perry in January 2023 that he was moving to California to "put some distance" between them. Dixon continued to star on "The Oval" but left during the show's final season, a move he claimed resulted in him losing out on close to $400,000. According to the complaint, the actor is suing Perry for sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, retaliation, and more. He is requesting a jury trial and for damages of $260 million. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Tyler Perry accused of sexual assault by actor Derek Dixon in lawsuit
US film and TV giant Tyler Perry has been sued for $260m (£194m) by an actor who has accused the mogul of sexually assaulting him while working on his TV Dixon has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles accusing Perry of using his influence in the entertainment industry to create a "coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic" while he was acting on The Oval and alleges Perry promised him a successful acting career but then subjected him to "escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation" when he didn't reciprocate Perry's "unwanted advances".Perry's lawyer denied the allegations and called the lawsuit a "scam" to make money. "This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam," his attorney Matthew Boyd told the BBC. "But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail."Dixon said he met Perry in 2019 at a work event for Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and the pair talked over several months about an acting career. The lawsuit states Perry also allegedly made numerous sexual comments and remarks about wanting a sexual relationship, and made several advances on Dixon - which he offered Dixon a role in his show Ruthless then later in The Oval. But the lawsuit said: "Mr Perry made it clear to Dixon that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon's character would 'die' in the next season."The case claims Perry "always held this over Mr Dixon's head, implying that [his character] 'Dale' would survive if Dixon kept Perry 'happy'".The lawsuit cites several incidents where Perry allegedly sexually assaulted Dixon. The actor accused Perry of interrogating him over his sexual interests in a trailer on the set of The Oval, before pinning him to a wall and fondling him. Dixon said he refused the advance and left the trailer. Dixon said to stop continued harassment, he elected to leave his role on The Oval and declined a job from Perry to work as a writer.
