Big Brother star gives savage review of Jeremy Clarkson's pub over 'dry' meat

Daily Mirror2 days ago

Big Brother star Henry Southan - who rose to fame on the revival of the ITV reality show - has given his verdict of Jeremy Clarkson's pub The Farmer's Dog, having taken his family there for Father's Day
Big Brother star Henry Southan has given his honest - and savage - verdict of Jeremy Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog. Jeremy has opened up a pub near Burford in Oxfordshire to mark Father's Day over the weekend.
The food critic rose to fame on Big Brother, where he quickly struck up a romance with fellow housemate Jordan. However, the pair have since split up. Henry took to social media to give his honest verdict on the pub.

He started his TikTok review by showing a clip of the overflow car park. He moaned: "It's like arriving at Glastonbury - this is the overflow car park. I am in a field far away from the pub and I am having to trek to the pub even with a reservation."

As he trekked across the overflow car park and towards the venue, he said: "This better be the best roast I have ever eaten to justify the pain of just parking and getting here. I am being a proper moaner right now I'm sorry but it's just crazy."
He then filmed the queues and moaned that he had a reservation but didn't know if that meant he could skip the queue. He said: "There is a massive queue out the door - do I have to queue in that even if I have a reservation for now?"
They finally sat down for dinner - but that left Henry and his family wanting more. Discussing the £26 roast, Henry said he was less than impressed with the star of the show - the meat.
He filmed himself telling his dad: "You were right about the beef it is really dry! The pork is also really dry!"
Jeremy's pub has been in the spotlight ever since it was first opened and it recently hit the headlines over a strict menu policy. One reviewer grumbled: "drinks are limited, no cola, pepsi, lemonade or coffee", while another bemoaned the lack of seasonings: "(I) asked for some pepper and was told, 'sorry no!!'" as another said: "Ate 3 mouthfuls and that was enough".

"Sadly they do not have pepper or coffee - both items I really missed. It was strange not to have a coffee after my meal, and I always have pepper on my veg," another person wrote.
Jeremy had previously said his keenness to support local farmers and producers was costing him a lot of money.
"Now, a business-minded person would look at these costs and realise that with British-only rules in place, a hotdog was going to be priced at about £45," he wrote, "But I'm not a business-minded person.
"So I just filled my heart with hope, asked an AI program to work out what the average price of lunch in a Cotswolds pub is and just charged that. It's possible that for every customer who comes through the door I'd lose about £10."

Coronation Street star teases 'big' scenes ahead amid dangerous drugs plot

Coronation Street's Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby has revealed all about the ITV soap's LSD storyline, while she teased to The Mirror 'big' scenes are on the way One Coronation Street star has promised "big" scenes ahead on the ITV soap in the coming months. Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby spoke exclusively to The Mirror about the upcoming storylines for her character. She also teased the 65th anniversary plans for later this year, and the big Emmerdale crossover airing in 2026. ‌ After months of not being onscreen much, Harriet explained to us that she was having a quieter year following the huge and emotional 2024 storyline, that saw Summer's father figure Paul Foreman die after battling motor neurone disease. Summer featured heavily in this storyline, with lots of difficult scenes for actress Harriet. ‌ Often in soaps when a character features in a massive storyline, they tend to then go quiet which is what has happened with Summer. But that's all about to change as next week, she takes centre stage once more. This time, Summer and other characters are caught up in a drugs storyline, as three characters take LSD at a house party. What follows is a dramatic and devastating sequence of events. Teasing more from Summer ahead, Harriet told us: "I've had a quieter year this year after the big storyline with Paul last year. It was brilliant, we loved doing it even though every day we were in tears. "We will be seeing more of Summer in the coming months." Harriet also teased the big stuff on the way, saying: "I'm really excited about the crossover. It's never been done before. It will be fun and a little different. "I am hoping to be a part of it but we have no idea. I'd love to meet the Dingles." When asked about the 65th, she said: "I'm the worst person to ask, everything you're asking me I'm asking the bosses! It will be something big though." ‌ As for the huge drugs storyline that is coming up, Harriet teased what the fallout will be with it clear something has happened, and that Summer and pal Nina Lucas have been witnesses to something while high. Revealing "the night takes a turn", she teased: "Even with no drugs in their system they'd be feeling really shocked, upset and concerned about what's just happened. "So times that by 10 with the LSD they've got in their system and they're distraught. They're really worried and really scared about what's just happened." Harriet went on: "They figure out that they've witnessed something. "They have different opinions on what to do with this and it causes a little bit of friction between them. Nina thinks they should tell someone and report it whereas Summer is more convinced that they don't know what they've seen because they were affected by the LSD so there's no point in reporting anything as they don't know for sure that something happened. "They're very confused by what they think they saw because they're unsure about what was reality and what was not." On the future impact of the huge plot, she shared: "I think when you find yourselves in quite dangerous situations, and it's not just Summer and Nina who are affected, you look back and think that was a really stupid idea. It affects a lot of different people in different ways and it could have been avoided if these drugs were not at the party."

Kroger's Juneteenth cakes spark backlash: ‘This is a mockery!'

A Kroger in Atlanta, Georgia is going viral for its Juneteenth cake offerings. A TikTok video posted on June 17 shows haphazardly decorated desserts sitting in the bakery section of the supermarket. 'This is some bulls---,' TikToker @ says at the start of the video. 'Who the hell made this ugly-ass s---?' The video, which now has over 10 million views, shows shelves stocked with birthday cakes and other treats, then lands on a table selling Juneteenth cookie cakes. 'Y'all decorate everything else around here cute, everything else around here cute,' the TikToker says. 'But for Juneteenth, you wanna just throw something on a freaking cookie cake and expect someone to buy it.' Several desserts are shown, some with printed designs, others featuring phrases like 'FREE,' 'June 19 Free,' 'Congratulations' and 'Free @ Last' written off-center in icing. The phrase 'free at last' is known for being a prominent part of Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech, borrowed from the title of a Negro-Spiritual song. And now the phrase, which represents a hard-fought struggle, is being featured on a supermarket cake, casually scribbled in internet shorthand. 'I'm a be in here bright, early in the morning to talk to somebody about this, because this is unacceptable,' concludes the TikToker, who did not respond to request for comment. 'Kroger count your days,' they added in the post's caption. 'Why even bother if you're going to lack creativity … This is a mockery!' In the comments section of the video, many agreed. 'Free @ last is just insane 😭😭😭😭,' commented one TikTok user. 'It's giving 'here damn' 💀,' wrote another. 'Gurl! Not the last one saying Congratulations,' added someone else. 'Like Congratulations You're free! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤭.' 'I would absolutely take that cake that says FREE,' wrote one Reddit user, and another replied, 'Yea I mean it's says FREE I thought it was free.' For its part, Kroger says the desserts featured in the video were 'inconsistent' with its 'provided guidance.' 'The products have been removed, and we've addressed this directly with the store teams and the customer who took the initial video,' it added. The removal of the controversial cookie cakes was confirmed by @ in a follow-up TikTok video. 'I still feel some type of way that they didn't replace them with better Juneteenth cakes,' she says. However, there were some folks on the internet who felt 'mixed' on the issue. An alleged Kroger employee on Reddit wrote, 'I understand that people here are overworked and underpaid like crazy. However, admittedly these cake are not the best looking and def could've been made better.' In response, other Reddit users said, 'It looks like they don't have an experienced cake decorator,' and pointed out that 'it was probably someone with minimal training and not much time, doing their best.' Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced enslaved people were free. This was two and a half years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863. In June 1883, the Galveston Daily News reported on the 18th annual Emancipation Day — what would today be considered Juneteenth — celebrations across Texas. In 2022, Walmart drew backlash for releasing its own Juneteenth-themed ice cream, which critics said attempted to capitalize on a Black holiday rather than highlight already existing Black-owned ice cream brands. The chain later apologized to customers, writing, 'Juneteenth holiday marks a commemoration and celebration of freedom and independence. However, we received feedback that a few items caused concern for some of our customers and we sincerely apologize.'
