Shoppers save £52 on REN, PIXI and more in Lookfantastic's new box
Beauty writer Eve Rowlands has received a number of Lookfantastic's monthly beauty boxes and she thinks May's is one of their best yet
When it comes to beauty boxes, in my eyes, each haul needs to have something for every stage of the beautifying process: a product for hair, skincare, make-up and body, either pre, during or post-shower. Lookfantastic's May box has nailed it for this month, and I think it's the best box since I joined its subscription.
Worth more than £65, the box costs £50 less than that for a one-off order of the May selection itself, £15. However, if you sign up to receive the Lookfantastic box each month for a 12-month period, it drops to £13.
Containing six products, this month's feels like a bumper pack as it not only contains one full sized product, but three - it usually has one full sized product or two. So this felt like a bit of a lottery.
This May box certainly rivals that of Glossybox's 5-product offering. Their box this month contains products to help you enjoy the sunshine, such as the e.l.f. SKIN Suntouchable Whoa Glow SPF 30 and the Anatomicals Make Your Skin Grin Mango & Papaya Body Cream. Costing £13.50 for a one-off purchase, shoppers can also get it for £12.50 when they sign up for 12 months.
Although if you want a bit of a treat, Cult Beauty's The Set for Sun Edit is worth £175 and costs £40. Packed with sun-ready formulas, the box features brands like Supergoop!, Elemis, Philip Kingsley and Ultrasun. While it's more expensive, those who have snagged this set love it, stating it's 'the perfect summer set with all your favourites in it. Loads of minis so the best for your travel kit'.
This month, the Lookfantastic Box has pleasantly surprised me with all of its products. The haul includes three full-size items: REN Clean Skincare Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Gel 150ml (worth £25), Bedhead After Party Smoothing Cream 100ml, and PIXI Clear Brow Tamer Brow Gel.
It also included First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Fresh Strawberry Body Scrub with 10% AHA 28.3g in a deluxe-size, a LOOKFANTASTIC Cleansing Cloth and a Bondi Sands face tanning serum. Firstly, the REN cleanser is just a really good facial wash that leaves my relatively sensitive skin feeling nice (not irritated), hydrated and most importantly clean.
It's quite fluid but doesn't feel slimy and lathers up enough to feel like it's nourishing. It's great if you are in a rush, as it doesn't require minutes to melt away the dirt (like my usual fave Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm). The facial cloth in the pack is also really nice and soft on the skin, making it a TLC session when taking off the day.
The only thing I didn't quite enjoy about the cleanser is its scent, which is quite herbal. I'm more of a fruity or essential oil person, so that would stop me from repeat purchasing it.
With that in mind, I adore the scent of the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Fresh Strawberry Body Scrub with 10% AHA because, as the name suggests, it smells like strawberries. It makes buffing the bumps on the backs of my arms, knees and other problem spots a much more enjoyable experience.
I feel like I've been launched into a pool of Strawberry Laces with every use. As a scrub paste, it does feel akin to rubbing sand on my skin, but not in a harsh way as it softens when mixed with moisture. Plus, in the few times I have used it, it actually works at reducing the appearance of bumps on the skin.
It's important to moisturise well after use and wear your SPF as the AHA in the solution can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. It also goes without saying this isn't for use on the face - stick to the body only.
The small but mighty Brow Gel from Pixi is another favourite of mine as it gives my brows a really good lift, without being sticky, hard or flaky when dried. Even when running my fingers over my brows to intentionally try and put them out of place they don't budge and easily slot back into the structure I'd created with the brush.
I like the Bedhead After Party Smoothing Cream as it tamed my flyaways and gave my locks a lovely, frizz-ish-free shine. However, as someone who wears their hair curly most of the time, this cream feels more suited to someone who dries their hair smooth. It'll be great when I want a sleek look, though.
The Bondi Sands Pure Self Tanning Sleep Mask is the product I've not yet tested but am excited to. It claims to deliver an overnight tan as you sleep, all whilst nourishing it with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.

Part of Ariana Grande's growing perfume collection, Thank U, Next is loved for its fun, feminine bottle and the way it balances dessert-like sweetness with floral softness and musk undertones. One happy LookFantastic shopper summed it up by saying: 'Oh my goodness, this is lush. The smell does not wear off, it's great.' Fans love the perfume and, while at LookFantastic there aren't many reviews, a check at other retailers selling it are similarly glowing. At Superdrug, where it currently costs £44 as part of their fragrance sale, the fragrance has 4.9 stars out of 5 based on 60 reviews, with 98% of respondents saying they'd recommend it to a friend. One five star reviewer said: "I ordered this perfume yesterday and I have another one that I received for my birthday last year (I've not used it all up yet). Merit 'five minute' routine includes 'holy grail' glow serum
The Merit Prep Set is a four-piece bundle to prep skin for foundation and the routine includes a new tinted moisturiser just in time for summer Clean beauty brand Merit has offered fans a 15% off discount on the Prep Set, which includes a serum that has been hailed a "holy grail" for glowing skin. The sleek minimalistic packaging and hydrating skincare formulas have quickly turned Merit into a cult beauty brand and it has won over the likes of Demi Moore and Nichole Richie. Sharing on Instagram, Merit posted a "routine that takes only five minutes" and that's the Prep Set and the Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. For a limited time, the Prep Set is reduced from £130 to £111 and it includes the viral Great Skin Instant Glow Serum, Great Skin Moisturiser, The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick and a Blending Brush. Formulated to plump and hydrate for an instant glow, the bi-phase serum, worth £34 alone, includes a blend of four types of hyaluronic acid to target multiple layers of skin to lock in moisture. It also has cacao seed extract to stimulate blood flow for an "immediate plumping effect". One fan reacted and shared: That serum is my holy grail! One fan raved about the Merit set: "Hands down best makeup I have ever used as a minimal five-minute makeup girl. Top notch and worth every single penny." Another used the Minimalist to cover her under eyes dark circles and loved how it "make my eyes look awake". But a shopper took away a star and shared: "Only negative is that I can go through this fast so a lower price would be more enticing. Merit is not the only brand that launch stick-like makeup , Charlotte Tilbury's Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint, £35, gives a "ring-like effect" that can double as highlighter or foundation. Pixi Beauty's On-the-Glow Base is a more affordable option and is available on Amazon for £22. The Merit Prep Set is now on 15% off and shoppers can complete the "five-minute routine" along with The Uniform.

'I found a way to get £39 Medik8 serum for £4.50'

Priced at £32, this limited-edition bundle holds a value of £124.50, and contains seven mini and travel-friendly products including Floral Street's Sunflower Pop Eau de Parfum , which is usually £29 for 10ml - that's only £3 less than the price you pay for the whole box. And it actually works out at £4.57 when you divide the number of products you get by the price you pay. Another summer beauty haul is LookFantastic's Summer Heroes Edit for £45. Valued at over £150, the exclusive bundle includes six beauty gems, including four full-sized items from high-end brands such as Sol de Janeiro and ESPA. Glossybox has promised that this edit is 'better than ever', and if that's the case, then shoppers are going to be thrilled because last year's haul saw some pretty impressive reviews. There aren't currently any ratings for the 2025 edit, but last year, one said: 'My bag arrived today and I was really surprised at the quality of the items that I received. I absolutely loved the Hawaiian Tropic fragrance mist it smells amazing and the other items were equally as good.' Another described it as the 'best box ever', adding: 'Loved, loved all the products and the bag is a lovely colour, well done Glossybox.' With another thrilled with the contents, writing: 'Loved this limited edition. The bag is lovely and all the items are great and exactly as I expected, with a few additional treats like someone else mentioned, some tic tacs, a strawberry hydration sachet and a can of peach and orange prebiotic drink. 'This is the best limited edition box that glossybox has done for a while. You had to choose if you wanted dry shampoo and the redken spray or the shampoo and conditioner. I choose the dry shampoo and redken spray and received both.' One shopper seemed disappointed to have not received the dry shampoo in their box. They left a four-star review, commenting: 'I was surprised at how quickly I received my order! Fabulous summer holiday edition, I'm pleasantly surprised that I love all the items and the bag is fab. I'm a little disappointed that the dry shampoo is missing. I do however love all the little extra treats I received. All in all it's a brilliant box!'
