The veteran broadcaster made her debut on the ITV sofa just weeks after a public spat with regular contributor Camilla - and appeared to step directly into her territory.

Kay appeared alongside Gyles Brandreth to discuss the day's news, including the Princess of Wales pulling out of Royal Ascot yesterday — a subject closely associated with Royal correspondent Camilla.
Taking the lead on the topic, Kay said: 'The point I'm trying to make is the conspiracy theorists will be asking, well why is she not there, where is she?'
Camilla is This Morning's royal expert and appeared on the ITV daytime show on Monday.
The appearance follows a blistering column by Camilla, who described Kay as 'TV's answer to Liz Truss' in the wake of her departure from Sky News.
She added: 'Some may say good riddance' and called her 'as resilient as her facelift.'
Kay, 64, hit back, accusing Camilla of misogyny and writing on X: '#Sweetie ⁦@CamillaTominey⁩ as the late, great Madeleine Albright said, there is a special place in hell for women who don't support other women.'
While tensions between the two broadcasters simmered, others in the industry rushed to support Kay's legacy.
Susanna Reid called her 'a powerful interviewer and a supporter of women in television,' while Victoria Derbyshire said she had 'blazed an absolute trail.'
Kay joined Sky News as a founding presenter in 1989 and left earlier this year after 36 years on air.
She had been the face of Sky News for major world events, such as the death of Princess Diana, the births of the Royal babies and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Kay Burley, 64, retires from Sky News after 36 years and says 'it's time for me to indulge in other passions'-
As well as hosting live TV, Kay published her debut novel, First Ladies in 2011, which was followed by her second book Betrayal in 2012.
The anchor's career first started in BBC local radio and Tyne Tees Television.
She then joined ITV's TV-am in 1985 as a reporter and occasional newsreader.
Kay shares her only child - who's real name is Alexander - with her ex-husband, Steve Kutner.
Before leaving Sky News in February, Kay had hosted the 24-hour rolling news channel's breakfast programme for the last five years, moving from her afternoon slot in 2019.
Leaving Sky News, she said: "From a standing start to one of the most recognised and valued brands in global news, it's been an honour and privilege to work with some of the best and hardest working teams in the business.
"News by its very nature is often devastating and together we've covered so many life-changing events - from the tragic death of Diana, the shocking terror attack of 9/11; the Asian Tsunami; the Concorde air disaster.
"But we've also enjoyed some wonderful high notes too, haven't we - the thrill of London winning the chance to host the 2012 Olympics; a plethora of royal weddings; jubilees and who can forget days and days and DAYS waiting for royal babies to arrive at the Lindo Wing.
"But after over a million minutes of live TV news - more than anyone else in the world - its time for me to indulge in some of my other passions - including my love for travel.
"So, after covering 12 separate general elections - including Sir Keir Starmer's victory last year - I am retiring from Sky News - let politicians of every party just rejoice at that news!
"Thank you for waking up and tuning in every morning. I can't tell you how much I have appreciated your support over the last three and a half decades: You're awesome.
"I will post more on my social media and hope to see you around. Please keep in touch."
Sky bosses took Kay off air for six months in 2020 after her birthday bash flouted Coronavirus lockdown rules at the time with the anchor apologising for the "error of judgement".

Late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers' widow reveals agonising guilt over his death in rare TV interview - and the harrowing ten-word question that still haunts her

Late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers ' widow opened up about her agonising guilt over his death in rare TV interview on Friday's episode of Lorraine. Liliana Orzac, 57, appeared on the ITV show to chat to step-in host Ranvir Singh, 47, about her new book Dave and Me. TV legend Dave passed away in February 2024 aged 66, two years after his cancer diagnosis. Speaking about her loss, Liliana spoke about her grief and told Ranvir: 'It's an enormous thing to hear, that you have cancer, when you hear that, you don't fully understand the consequences of the treatment or the journey that is coming after that word. 'The stepson hospital corridors, the shattered dreams, the plans that you had for the future that are not going to be there anymore. 'The "What should I do? Should I do this? Should I do that"... 'And then afterwards, you're beating yourself up for thinking "I should have, I could have, I would have"...' 'The guilt the partner has left behind?,' Ranvir pointed out. 'And the guilt, the guilt you haven't done enough, and how could I let this happen in my care?' Liliana said of the questions that still haunt her. Dave shot to fame in 1980s and is best known for being one half of the Hairy Bikers, with his best pal chef Si King, 58. Over 20 years, the pair presented a number of TV shows including The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, Hairy Bikers' Best of British: Series Two and he Hairy Bikers Go West. 'When I met him I was a little bit skeptical about things, I come from a different upbringing, I grew up with limitations imposed on us. 'I loved Dave's freedom of thinking, Dave's freedom of travel, Dave's freedom of expressing himself. 'Our first communication was through emails...' Ranvir pointed out that they met at a hotel during a shoot during the first series of Hairy Bikers. Liliana explained: 'A little hotel that I was managing. They stayed at the hotel and I helped them with locations in the area... 'I was really really fortunate to be in the position to help the, knowing the local area and the contacts, they needed to film something meaningful for the area and representative of the area. 'And we kept in touch by emails. 'He was sending me these beautiful emails from all over the world travelling in first and second series. 'I got these beautiful emails talking about Turkey and the spaces, India and the smells and the colorful India, the penguins of Patagonia, it was magic I read every time in his emails. 'He captured me with that for me it was a dream to travel, but for him it was a reality. 'I was seeing the world through his eyes. It was quite magical. 'Then we met, I met the kindness, the side of him, he was such a beautiful soul and so warm and caring, he was the first man to cook for me!' On February 29 2024 it was revealed that Dave had died as Si revealed. The chef announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022 and bravely kept the public up to date with his progress in a series of emotional TV specials He died on February 28 2024 with his family and friends by his side. 'Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. 'All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. 'Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. 'My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. 'I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.' Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.

Royal fans all say same thing about Carole Middleton's sweet moment with Charles

On day two of Royal Ascot, Charles and Carole were seen laughing and enjoying the day together in the royal suite, leaving fans delighted to catch a glimpse into their unique bond As Royal Ascot continues, the royal family and their closest inner circles have made appearances at the Berkshire racecourse, marvelling in the spectacle of the horse races and the social event of the season. While many key royal figures have been seen both in the royal procession and the royal suite each day since Ascot began earlier this week, fans were delighted to see Carole Middleton - Princess Kate 's mother - taking part in the day on Wednesday, despite the fact that Kate dropped out from attending in the final hour. ‌ Although Kate wasn't at the event, that didn't stop Carole from mingling with the royal family and having a jolly time at the races, as she was spotted having a laugh with King Charles and giving her son-in-law Prince William a hug. ‌ While Carole and the wider Middleton family are often invited to major royal events, such as King Charles' coronation in 2023, it is rare to see them in a fun social setting having a laugh together. Since Charles and Carole were spotted chatting and laughing in the royal suite, dozens of royal fans have all remarked on their relationship, and how lovely it is that they seem to have such a close bond. One fan wrote on X: "It's lovely to see them together," while another person added: "Love that they have a lovely warm relationship.' A third royal fan commented: 'So nice to see. Good that they all get along so well." Someone else wrote: 'I love that when they're together, they're just in-laws. He's the King, but he's also her daughter's father-in-law and they share grandkids.' ‌ Prince William was also seen during the day giving a hug to his mother-in-law, seemingly confirming that the pair have always shared a close relationship, with William becoming as much part of the Middleton family as Kate has become part of the Royal Family. Carole Middleton still attended the second day of Royal Ascot, despite the fact that her daughter Kate pulled out of the event, less than two hours before she was due to appear in the royal procession alongside Prince William. Kate's sudden absence surprised many people, given the fact that her name had already been printed in the day two programme and shared by the Royal Ascot social media accounts. However, the Palace soon clarified that Kate's non-attendance at the event was the result of a "miscommunication". ‌ A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: "We notified Ascot that Her Royal Highness would not be attending. Unfortunately an inaccurate version of the carriage list was issued in error after that notification. The correct list was then circulated." The Prince and Princess of Wales are not expected to attend any further days of the festival. It is understood that the reason behind Kate's absence stems from her trying to find the right balance as she fully returns to public-facing engagements, just months after she announced her cancer was in remission.
