Manchester United explore Mount sale with Premier League rival linked
Manchester United have explored the potential sale of Mason Mount this summer with the club trying to 'establish whether there is a market' for the midfielder. Mount has endured an injury-hit time at Manchester United since arriving from Chelsea in a £55m deal in 2023. A succession of fitness issues and the presence of Bruno Fernandes has prevented Mount from making the expected impact at Old Trafford. He made just eight starts in the Premier League last season and has not been capped by England since the 2022 World Cup. Advertisement The club's former scout, Mick Brown, has revealed that the Red Devils have explored the sale of Mount this summer. Speaking to the Inside Track podcast, he said United are open to letting Mount move on this summer amid interest from Aston Villa. 'United have tried to establish whether there is a market for Mason Mount,' he said. 'Aston Villa have been spoken about and I think they could make a move. 'People remember Mason Mount at his best, that's what Villa want to help him get back to and it looks like he's back to full fitness now. 'Villa want to strengthen because they've lost (Marcus) Rashford and (Marco) Asensio, so Mount is on their list. Unai Emery is a fan of his and feels he could help him to rediscover his Chelsea form. Advertisement 'It would be an excellent move for Mount as well, because Villa are a top club, they've got top facilities and they'll be playing in Europe.'
