2026 4-star QB and Texas A&M commit named On3's Elite 11 Day 2 MVP
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is headlined by the highest-ranked prospect in the cycle, four-star running back KJ Edwards. Still, one of the more intriguing commits has made headlines this week, as four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga has been one of the top performers during this week's On3 Elite 11 competition, and was named Day 2's MVP after completing 18/20 passes on the night.
Casuga was one of Texas A&M's priority prospects for OC Collin Klein, who saw his potential before most programs, and now they are looking to flip the standout Utah-based signal caller heading into the fall. However, Casuga's pledge with the Aggies, like the rest of the 17 commits in the cycle, remains strong, as he is coming off his official visit to College Station on June 5.
Casuga's next-level arm talent was on full display this week. After losing 2025 five-star Husan Longstreet to USC late last fall, coach Mike Elko and Klein believe that Casuga is the answer as the program's next starting signal caller, which is only surprising to those who have not watched this young man play.
Here's what On3's Director of Scouting and Recruiting, Charles Power, had to say regarding Casuga's performance during the second day of the Elite 11 event.
"A very good performance on Night 2 from Texas A&M four-star commit Helaman Casuga, who finishes 18 of 20 on target to tie Jett Thomalla. A very clean pro day session. His footwork and timing was crisp and he consistently delivered catchable passes. The downfield arm strength may not overwhelm, but the zip was nice towards the intermediate areas."
Casuga's arm isn't considered the strongest in the 2026 cycle. Still, his quick release and elite touch make him a perfect fit in Collin Klein's system, which emphasizes short to intermediate passes. During his first two seasons, Casuga passed for 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns, and if/when he signs with the Aggies, he will reunite with his former No. 1 wide receiver, Jerome Myles, Texas A&M's top 2025 signee.

Michigan football gains edge for 4-star CB in 2026 class after losing target to rival

Michigan football has one cornerback committed to the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings. But his pledge has been tenuous, and the Wolverines have been looking to add multiple others to the class, whether he sticks or not. The Wolverines lost out on Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star Khary Adams to Notre Dame, but there's another who visited recently, with whom Michigan is in high regard. Once thought to be an Ohio State lean (per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star cornerback Donovan Webb has officially visited Ann Arbor earlier in the month, but also saw Texas Tech, Colorado, Kansas State, and LSU throughout the cycle. However, it appears that LaMar Morgan and company have done a good enough job that On3's Chad Simmons and EJ Holland have both put in predictions that he'll be wearing a winged helmet in the end. The scouting report from 247Sports' Gabe Brooks: Ultra-productive safety prospect with three-phase playmaking experience. Volume tackler with passing game impact as well, as evidenced by consecutive 100-tackle seasons and nine INTs/19 breakups across soph-junior campaigns. Displays impressive athleticism as a return game threat (two TDs as a junior). Ballhawk who looks for the big play. Shows some open-field speed-building ability. Also runs track. Plays a hyper-competitive style. Testing and track data suggest room to improve top-end speed. Can get too physical/handsy at times in coverage. Projects as a high-major safety with possible role versatility depending on down-and-distance situations. Could become a multi-year starter with the instincts and production that suggest potential beyond college. Webb is set to make his decision final in relatively short order, with his commitment date set for July 2.

Oregon QB Targets Bryson Beaver, Matt Ponatoski Turned Heads at Elite 11 Finals

Coming out of the Elite 11 Finals this week in Los Angeles, a narrative was built that this is among the best crop of quarterbacks that the camp has seen in quite some time. So it bodes well that a pair of Oregon Ducks targets, Bryson Beaver and Matt Ponatoski, are receiving some high praise coming out of the camp. After the three-day camp, Beaver was named the No. 3 top performer, while Ponatoski came in at No. 7 on the list. In a story from The Athletic's Bruce Feldman, the CFB analyst's biggest "pleasant surprise" was seeing what Ponatoski could do with the ball in his hands. "The most pleasant surprise to me was Ohio's Matt Ponatoski," Feldman wrote. "The two-sport star has an electric arm, having been clocked at 97 mph as a pitcher. That arm wowed me Thursday morning in his 7-on-7 performance. The 6-1, 196-pounder, who is uncommitted, made two 'wow' throws to receivers who didn't look open at all, but he fired the ball into the only spot he could and completed the passes. It was impressive." Meanwhile, Beaver turned a lot of heads throughout the weekend, coming in as a relatively unknown prospect who has exploded onto the scene in the last week. "Bryson Beaver, a three-star recruit from Southern California (No. 54 QB in the class), turned a lot of heads as well this week. The 6-2, 200-pounder, who recently decommitted from Boise State, is getting a lot of interest from some Power 4 powers, including Oregon. It wasn't hard to see why. He has an excellent arm and good feet." In his "superlatives" for the Elite 11 Finals, Charles Power named Beaver the player from the week with the strongest arm, while Ponatoski was the most accurate of the bunch. Both Ponatoski and Beaver are expected to take their official visits to Oregon this week, with the Ducks likely getting a commitment from one of them. At the moment, there is a belief that Ponatoski could get selected in the MLB draft as a top high school prospect this summer, which might lead to him never taking a snap in college football. That may lead to the Ducks prioritizing Beaver, who is among the fastest-rising QB prospects in the nation. What is Sixers prospect Ace Bailey looking for ahead of the NBA Draft?

The Philadelphia 76ers hold a lot of the cards in the 2025 NBA draft by holding the No. 3 pick. A lot of projections have Cooper Flagg going No. 1 to the Dallas Mavericks and Dylan Harper going No. 2 to the San Antonio Spurs, but what is going on with the Sixers at No. 3? There doesn't seem to be a clear idea of what the Sixers are doing with their pick. They can trade down and acquire more draft assets or they can trade up and try to select a guy like Harper at No. 2. The consensus seems to be that Rutgers star Ace Bailey should go No. 3 and he did have a workout scheduled with the Sixers, but he canceled it last minute ahead of the draft so one has to wonder what he is looking for. Per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Bailey is looking for a number of things: Multiple league sources said Bailey's agent, Omar Cooper, wanted the Sixers to commit to him before his scheduled Friday workout. One league executive believes that Bailey, once a consensus top-three pick, probably will drop in the draft because of his agency's tactics. Bailey remains the only American-based draft prospect to not visit any teams for a workout. Another league executive said the agency wants Bailey to remain on the East Coast and play somewhere between Atlanta and New York. It is important to note a couple of things here. First off, the Sixers are in that East Coast category that he is looking for as Philadelphia is settled between Atlanta and New York. Another one is just because he did not work out for the Sixers doesn't mean they won't select him. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey selected Tyrese Maxey in 2020 and Jared McCain in 2024 without a workout from either player. Bailey has a lot of question marks, but there is also a lot of upside. He can do so much on the floor in terms of scoring the ball whether he is able to take players off the dribble or knock down tough shots. The ability to make tough shots has been something that is attributed to his poor shot selection, and the criticism is that he can make those shots over college players, but it's different in the NBA. Either way, if he can tap into his potential, then he figures to be a full-time star in this league. So, he may be worth the risk at No. 3 regardless.
