Warr Acres woman charged after allegedly drugging grandchildren, locking them in dog cage for hours
WARR ACRES, Okla. (KFOR) — A year-long investigation has led to the arrest of 53-year-old Davena Marx, after police say she drugged her grandchildren and locked them in a dog cage.
Marx has been charged with four counts of Child Abuse and one count of Child Neglect.
Warr Acres Assistant Police Chief Jason Allen said Marx's arrest came later, due to forensic interviews with the children and gathering evidence with the District Attorney's Office.
'The day we went out with them, there was enough to immediately remove the children, which is often not the case,' Asst. Chief Allen said.
'They did find a large dog cage in the residence, and they also did locate Seroquel, which was also one of the allegations that Seroquel had been given to the children as well,' he added.
In court documents, Marx's two grandchildren, both under 10 years old, detail the horrific abuse to DHS Investigators.
One of the children said Marx would step on their feet and grind her heels into their toes, also hitting them with belts that would leave bruises covering their bodies.

The child also said, 'Memaw sells drugs and uses them; she makes us stay in the dog cage when she wants to go outside by herself.'
'The children did test positive for Seroquel, so she was definitely giving them this,' Asst. Chief Allen said.
A neighbor also told officers she noticed the children with black eyes and eating out of the dumpster. She also heard Marx cursing at them and calling them worthless.
The abuse took place at a Warr Acres apartment complex near N. MacArthur.
Neighbors in the complex were stunned when they heard about the abuse.
'It's crazy, it's crazy, and something should be done to her,' said Kenneth Greer.
Greer also said, 'It's sad and sickening, that someone would do this to kids, locking them up in a cage, giving them drugs, beating them and everything, that's crazy.'
News 4 learned that the children's father was killed in a road rage incident. The mother's whereabouts are unknown.
However, officers say the children are now with other family members.
Marx is in the Oklahoma County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

'They were already part of a public record by being in Department of Emergency Communication's calls, so I don't think it puts them at additional risk. DHS reveals shocking 500% increase in assaults against ICE officers during operations
The Department of Homeland Security released shocking new statistics Thursday showing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are facing a severe escalation in assaults during ICE operations. According to the release, agents have experienced a 500% increase in assaults while carrying out recent enforcement operations. "Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender," Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a press release. The escalation extends to other immigration operations, including Border Patrol. On Thursday, DHS posted about an incident in Bell and Maywood, CA where Patrol vehicles were "violently targeted during lawful operations." A vehicle was rammed, and its tires were slashed, DHS said. Another civilian also struck a federal vehicle, totaling it, according to the department. The driver was arrested for alleged vehicular assault as a mob formed and continued to slash more tires. Secretary McLaughlin said ICE agents put their lives on the line every day and blamed Democrats for allegedly putting them in harm's way by demonizing them. "Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens. Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE," McLaughlin said. L.A. Dodgers commit $1 million toward families of immigrants 'impacted by recent events'
One day after Department of Homeland Security officers infringed upon their home amid nearly two weeks of heightened tension in Los Angeles, the Dodgers on Friday announced a $1 million "commitment" toward financial assistance for families of immigrants "impacted by recent events in the region." Los Angeles has been roiled by aggressive raids from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which have honed in on workplaces frequented by immigrants. Marines and the National Guard have been dispatched to Los Angeles in the wake of protests that have seen heavy use of tear gas and projectile weapons by law enforcement. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have been heavily criticized for both action and inaction from their heavily Latino fan base. "What's happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected,' said Dodgers president Stan Kasten, whose club generated an estimated $752 million in revenue last season and is valued at nearly $7 billion. 'We believe that by committing resources and taking action, we will continue to support and uplift the communities of Greater Los Angeles.' Mayor Karen Bass indicated the external infringement on the community has had an impact. 'These last weeks have sent shockwaves of fear rippling through every neighborhood and have had a direct impact on our economy," Bass said.
