Royals' Jac Caglianone's role revealed for MLB debut vs. Cardinals
The post Royals' Jac Caglianone's role revealed for MLB debut vs. Cardinals appeared first on ClutchPoints.
The Kansas City Royals are making headlines once again, this time by promoting one of MLB's top prospects, Jac Caglianone, who is set to make his big-league debut Tuesday night in a high-stakes matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals. Kansas City is inserting their prized slugger into the heart of the action—batting sixth and filling the Royals designated hitter role.

The announcement was made official by MLB, which posted the debut update on X, formerly known as Twitter.
'Jac Caglianone is in the lineup, batting 6th and DHing in his MLB debut'
A dominant force at the University of Florida before being selected No. 6 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, Caglianone has quickly surged through the minors. Now ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, he comes with serious firepower. Over 50 games in the minors this year, he hit .322 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs—numbers that made it nearly impossible for the Royals lineup to ignore his call-up any longer.
Despite being known as a first baseman, Caglianone will debut as a DH to make room for Vinnie Pasquantino. However, he's expected to shift between first base and outfield duties in the coming weeks. The Royals are currently 31–29 and sitting 8.5 games back in the AL Central. They're pushing hard for a return to October baseball, and adding Caglianone to the mix deepens a roster already led by MVP candidate Bobby Witt Jr. and veteran Salvador Perez.

Known for his towering home runs and eye-popping exit velocity, Caglianone brings both hype and hope. His debut could be the spark Kansas City needs to tighten the division race.
Whether this is the beginning of a Rookie of the Year campaign or just an exciting glimpse into the future, one thing is certain, the Royals have injected serious firepower into their lineup.
With his debut, Kansas City adds a dynamic left-handed bat with elite power and proven production—exactly the kind of spark a playoff-contending team needs as the summer grind intensifies. The move sends a loud message, the Royals lineup isn't just here to compete—they're built to make noise.
Caglianone's ability to impact games from the DH spot, and potentially at first base or in the outfield, gives the Royals designated hitter rotation more depth and versatility. His presence should also take pressure off the core stars like Witt Jr. and Perez while giving pitchers across the league another name to fear.

If his minor league numbers are any indication, Caglianone won't be easing into the big leagues—he'll be swinging for the fences from pitch one.
So buckle up, Kansas City. The future is now, and the arrival of one of MLB's top prospects just might be the turning point the Royals have been waiting for.

2025 All-NBA Teams Revealed: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James, And Tyrese Haliburton Lead The Final Rosters
Just days after announcing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the MVP, the NBA made its final award announcement ahead of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. This time, it was the reveal for the annual All-NBA teams, which sparked major conversations across the community. For perhaps the final time, the 'Inside the NBA' crew gave the results live on the air, starting with the All-NBA First Team. This year, since the 2023-24 campaign, the league has adopted a "positionless" format, meaning only the best players will make the cut. Advertisement As the top three players in the world right now, and the frontrunners for MVP, Giannis, Shai, and Nikola Jokic were obvious inclusions. After winning 64 regular-season games, the Cavaliers needed a representative, and Donovan Mitchell was the perfect choice with averages of 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game on 44.3% shooting. After proving himself with a championship last year, Tatum earned his place on the First Team after stepping up and leading the Celtics with 26.8 points per game. - Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder - Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets - Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers - Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics Next was the All-NBA Second Team, which featured some very familiar faces. Interestingly, only two of the five players have avoided an early elimination this season, which is Jalen Brunson (26.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists) and Anthony Edwards (27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists). Still, you have to recognize the record-breaking achievement for LeBron James, who was just voted to his 21st All-NBA team for leading the Lakers to the third-best record in the West (50-32). Meanwhile, Stephen Curry makes his 11th appearance on the list after averaging 24.5 points per game at 37 years old. - Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks - Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors - Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves - LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers - Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers Finally, there's the All-NBA Third team, which showed us some of the best young risers in the NBA. The best among them is the guy currently fighting for a spot in the NBA Finals: Tyrese Haliburton. With a modest stat line of 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game, he earned his place as one of the league's top players. In a shocking twist, Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden also made the cut for the first time in 2021. Advertisement - Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons - Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pacers - James Harden, Los Angeles Clippers - Karl Anthony-Towns, New York Knicks - Jalen Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder The panel, which consisted of [], had no easy task trying to fill out the All-NBA rosters. While some will argue higher or lower for certain players, others were outraged over players they felt were snubbed entirely. Trae Young is one example, and many of his fans felt a sense of familiarity after thinking back to his snub from the All-Star team. There's also Jaylen Brown, who somehow didn't get the nod despite averaging 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for a 61-win Celtics team. It's important to remember that some players didn't qualify for the teams (65-game minimum requirement), which explains why players like Luka Doncic and De'Aaron Fox missed out despite otherwise excellent seasons. Advertisement Overall, while some players may feel left out, it's hard to disagree with the results given what we've seen this season and now in the playoffs. Either way, there's no going back on the process now and players will have to wait until next season to prove why they belong with the best. Sunday morning Orioles game thread: at Yankees, 11:35 AM
The Orioles won't have to linger too long on yesterday's demoralizing loss to the Yankees. They're back in action before lunchtime today, squaring off in the 11:35 rubber game airing on Roku TV. It's the Orioles' first morning game of the season but not their last; they'll play another 11:35 game in Atlanta two weeks from today. Today's result will decide not only a series win or loss against the Yankees, but also whether the O's emerge from their seven-game AL East road trip with a winning record. There'd be some measure of pride for the Orioles in surviving a tough trip with their head above water, not that a bunch of 4-3 weeks are going to get them back into the postseason race. Advertisement For that to happen, the O's will need a better performance from their starting pitcher. Tomoyuki Sugano and Zach Eflin both suffered miserable, abbreviated outings in the first two games against the Yankees, with Sugano chased in the fourth inning and Eflin after just three. It's up to Dean Kremer to reverse that trend. This is his first start of the year against the Yankees but he faced them six times in the previous two seasons, going 3-0 with a 3.58 ERA. Kremer, like most pitchers, has had trouble getting Aaron Judge out. The Yankee slugger has crushed four home runs in just 15 career at-bats against Kremer. Maybe just walk him? Because the Orioles had to burn through so much of the bullpen in the previous two games, they made a somewhat surprising roster move to bring in a fresh arm, optioning Yenner Cano to Triple-A Norfolk and recalling Yaramil Hiraldo. Cano, as one of the few relievers with options, was the victim of a roster crunch, though it's not as if he's pitched particularly well this year. He has a 4.73 ERA and lately has been relegated to middle relief or mop-up outings. The former All-Star set-up man will try to regain his form in the minors, where he hasn't pitched since April 2023. Hiraldo, who has had four days off since his last appearance for Norfolk, could potentially pitch multiple innings of relief if needed. The Orioles' lineup looks less intimidating without Adley Rutschman, who went on the IL yesterday, and Jordan Westburg, who left Saturday's game with a sprained hand and might not be available today. But I've certainly seen weaker-looking O's lineups that resulted in victory — including the opener of this series two days ago — so we'll find out what happens.
