Patna: Congress organised a 'halla-bol' march in Patna on Monday to demand justice for the 11-year-old Muzaffarpur dalit girl, who was raped and brutally assaulted on May 26 and died at the PMCH during treatment on Sunday morning.
The accused, who was arrested, had partially slit her throat and stabbed the girl multiple times after rape. Her vocal cords were badly damaged.
Congress has alleged negligence in her treatment and said she was referred from the SKMCH on Saturday to the PMCH where the poor girl struggling for life was kept waiting in the ambulance and taken to different wards for almost 4 hours before she was provided a bed. Her uncle also alleged gross negligence and delay on the part of the PMCH doctors.
However, the PMCH administration refuted all the allegations.
The Congress men, led by state party president Rajesh Kumar, Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib and AICC in charge of state Congress Krishna Allavaru, started the march from Sadaquat Ashram to CM house before the police stopped them near Rajapur Pul and detained some of the leaders when they tried to jump the barricades. Those detained included Chib and Bihar Youth Congress state president Shiv Prakash Garibdas.

There was a scuffle between the Congress leaders and the police. The Congress leaders blamed the state govt and the administration for the death of the girl and demanded justice to the bereaved family and the resignation of health minister Mangal Pandey.
"Agar ye sarkar nahi mani to hum int se int baja denge…Jab jab Nitish darte hain to police ko aage karte hain," Rajesh said when the police stopped them from moving forward.
Chib alleged that dalit women are being exploited during the Nitish Kumar rule, while the double engine govt has no control over crime or corruption. He also said the "irresponsible" Nitish-BJP govt pushed a minor dalit rape victim towards death due to govt mismanagement.
RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also attacked the state govt and said all the NDA people were busy only in holding political meetings. "Everyone is busy with elections.
No one in the govt is ready to share the pain of the people of Bihar or get them justice," he said.
Rajesh slammed the BJP for criticising Congress for raising questions and calling it politics.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal had said there should be no politics on such issues and "strict action will be taken against the culprits. This is a very sad incident, Congress should not do politics on this".

Bhovi community seeks nomination to Legislative Council
Members of the Bhovi community have urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief, to nominate a member of their community to the Legislative Council. Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Sunday, former Chairman of the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation G.V. Seetharamu said it was only in 1980 when a member of their community was nominated to the Legislative Council by the Congress party. Since the nomination of R. Peeranna, former MLA for H.D. Kote, in 1980 by the then Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao, not a single member of the community has been nominated to the Council, he said. The Bhovi community comes under the Scheduled Caste (SC), and is the third largest in the 1.8 crore SC population in the State, said Mr. Seetharamu, claiming that the Bhovi community's population in Karnataka is estimated to be around 18 lakh. Even though Congress has 33 MLCs in the State Legislative Council that has a total strength of 75 seats, not a single one of them belongs to the Bhovi community, he said. Mr. Seetharamu said that from his travel across the State between the 2013 assembly elections and the 2023 elections, he had seen how the Bhovi community has stood behind the Congress party. He urged Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar to recognise the dedication of the Bhovi community to the party and nominate their member to the Council. Out of the 75 members in the Legislative Council, 25 are elected by local bodies and another 25 by the members of the Legislative Assembly. While seven others are elected from graduates' constituencies, another seven are elected from the teachers' constituencies. Another 11 members are nominated by the Governor based on the recommendation of the government.

'We have other goals': Israeli army vows to continue Iran offensive; reviews aftermath of US strikes on nuclear sites
The Israeli military on Sunday declared it has "other goals" in Iran and will press forward with its military campaign, hours after US air strikes hit key Iranian nuclear facilities. "We have other goals and we will continue to act until we attain them," said Israeli army spokesperson Effie Defrin during a televised briefing. The statement came amid escalating regional tensions after US President Donald Trump confirmed American forces had carried out a "very successful attack" on three nuclear sites in Iran's Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz, ending weeks of speculation about potential US involvement in the conflict. Israel-Iran conflict: Follow live updates Defrin said Israel was still assessing the impact of the US strike on the heavily fortified Fordo enrichment facility. 'It's too soon to determine whether Iran's enriched uranium was destroyed or removed," he said. 'We are constantly checking the situation. It is too soon to determine. I suppose we will know later on." The Israeli army launched its own fresh round of attacks on Sunday morning, including strikes on Iranian missile launchers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 40代以上でPC持ってるなら、このゲームはあなた向け! Tehran, meanwhile, has accused both the US and Israel of inflaming the crisis. Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said the attacks marked a serious escalation. 'The US and Israel have crossed a red line by attacking Iran's nuclear facilities,' he said at an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Istanbul. Araghchi also stated that Iran was still evaluating the extent of the damage. Despite the strikes, Iran's Red Crescent chief Pir Hossein Kolivand reported that there were no fatalities from the US raids. 'Fortunately, we did not have any martyrs in last night's events of the US aggression against Iran's nuclear facilities," he said on state TV. Israel first launched its large-scale assault on Iran on June 13, targeting what it said were nuclear and military assets. The operation has included hundreds of airstrikes, assassinations of military officials, and the killing of around ten nuclear scientists. Iran has denied ever seeking to develop nuclear weapons. As of Saturday, Iranian authorities said more than 400 people had died and over 3,000 were injured in Israeli attacks, mostly civilians. Israel, in turn, reported 25 deaths caused by Iranian missile and drone strikes.

Lalu Prasad symbol of corruption and 'Gabbar Singh of Bihar': Dy CM Samrat Choudhary
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday attacked opposition RJD president Lalu Prasad , describing him as the "symbol of corruption" and the state's Gabbar Singh, the villain in the 1975 film 'Sholay'. Choudhary also claimed that the opposition party headed by Prasad, a former chief minister, would face a humiliating defeat in the assembly polls due later this year. "Lalu Prasad is the Gabbar Singh of Bihar. As long as he is alive and active in politics, people will be afraid of him. People of Bihar know that Lalu Prasad is the symbol of corruption," the deputy CM said while talking to reporters here. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Eat Ginger Everyday for 1 Month This is What Happens Tips and Tricks Undo Prasad was convicted in fodder scam cases. He alleged that the RJD is full of criminals and the family of Prasad is full of corrupt people. Live Events "They (Lalu and his family) have looted Bihar. People of Bihar know about Lalu Prasad and his party. They will face a humiliating defeat in the coming assembly polls in the state," Choudhary said. Claiming that Bihar witnessed tremendous growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , the deputy CM asserted that the state will be turned into an industrial hub between 2025 and 2030. "Opposition parties who are questioning about development should see the development of Patna Airport, Ganga Path, Patna-Buxar Road and Patna-Muzaffarpur Road. Several other infrastructural projects have also been completed by the NDA in Bihar' and others are on the verge of completion," he said. Asked about RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's recent controversial statement calling Modi a 'pickpocket' and alleging that public funds are used to arrange the PM's rallies in the state, Choudhary said such comment showed his level. "I told it earlier also. Just like Amitabh Bachchan had 'Mera Baap Chor Hai' (my father is a thief) written on his hand in a Hindi movie, something similar is happening with Tejashwi." Soon after the PM's rally in Siwan on June 20, Yadav had alleged that the NDA has been spending the Bihar government's money for the programme and "this is nothing but pickpocketing".
