Master The 20 Minute Workout With Cacti Wellness

Kira Jones cacti wellness Kira Jones knows that women want to take care of their mind and body, which led her to founding Cacti Wellness, a lifestyle brand with an app, web platform, and product line that offers fitness classes and a catalogue to help up your game on your overall wellness. Among the classes she leads, there are the Pilates Sculpt workouts, which are under 20-minutes, perfect for those who have 'the busiest of schedules,' she said. The productivity, wellness-focused app is designed to help maximize workouts without overcomplicating self-care. She first founded Cacti Wellness in 2020, out of the need to connect mental health with physical wellness. 'I was inspired by the correlation between wellness and productivity, and I wanted to create a brand that could help people perform at their highest level, both personally and professionally,' she said. 'It's a digital destination where you can learn to build solid habits and integrate them into your daily life.' Cacti bands event cacti wellness The 20-minutes or less approach to classes is meant for busy women on the go. 'It's not going to be the most intense workout you've ever done; but the accessibility allows you to create a habit,' said Jones. 'Consistency is key to making changes in your life.' The platform includes calming affirmations, standing exercises, an upper body workout with bands and Pilates classes, as well as meditations, breathwork and productivity workshops. It's for those of us who want to stay in on a rainy day or want to work out while traveling. 'The amazing thing about Pilates is that so many of the basic moves and exercises can be done with little to no equipment,' she said. 'Even if all you have is a hotel towel to use as a mat, you can still get an efficient and effective workout in.' The 20-minute workout is an ideal spot, says Jones, mainly because it's a small commitment that will still get you moving. 'Committing to 20-minute Pilates class at home is much easier than committing to a 60-minute HIIT class,' she said. 'Our content is stackable, so if you're someone that prefers a longer workout or meditation practice, you can always stack a few together.' Cacti Wellness Emma Cacti Wellness' most popular videos are the Get Ready Meditation, the 19-Minute Full Body Pilates Sculpt and the Positive Affirmations Meditation. 'To stay consistent with something, you have to actually enjoy it, so I'm so here for finding things we enjoy,' said Jones. Her latest obsession is exercise bands. 'I think bands get a bad rap because we've all been to a fitness studio where you're handed a rubber band that hurts your legs and rolls up the whole time you're using it,' she said. 'But when you think about the functionality of a resistance band, it's pretty incredible how much you can intensify movement or deepen a stretch.' She sells a line of The Bands, woven fabric resistance bands on her website in a neutral hued colorways. They come in a pack of three. While Cacti Wellness started as a fitness-focused brand, it has grown to become more of a lifestyle brand. Their next product launch is a Gua Sha made from Tiger's Eye stone. This Chinese facial tool gently scrapes the face. 'Each morning, I use my Gua Sha to drain fluid from my lymphatic system and de-puff my face,' said Jones. Next up, Cacti Wellness will add more 'Routines' to their app, specifically video bundles that focus on different needs, from manifestation to wellness while traveling. They also plan to expand their product line with new products launching in 2025. 'All essentials for your daily routine,' said Jones. Follow @cactiwellness on Instagram.

Soft lighting and no microphones: Ballantyne's new Pilates studio offers luxury fitness

The reformer Pilates hype continues; luxury Pilates chain The Daily Pilates opened over the weekend in Ballantyne. Why it matters: It's the first North Carolina location for the reformer Pilates chain, which first opened in Atlanta in 2015. What to expect: The Daily Pilates Ballantyne offers group and private reformer classes. Its signature "Sculpt" class is a full-body workout focused on classical Pilates movements. For those seeking a hybrid workout or more cardio, there's the "Sculpt HIIT" class, which combines reformer exercises with cardio bursts. There's also a Cadillac reformer available for private lessons. Between the lines: A Cadillac reformer is a piece of Pilates equipment with a table, similar to a reformer, and a metal frame that allows for additional attachments for more advanced exercises. The vibe: The Daily is a contrast to the dark lighting, loud music and party-like atmosphere often found at trendy reformer studios, like Solidcore. In fact, the vibe is quite the opposite, explains owner Kim Libretto. The studio is designed to be a calming space; instructors don't wear microphones during class, there's no overhead lighting, and the interior is a soft neutral palette. Zoom in: Kim Libretto co-owns the studio with her husband, Mike Libretto, who owns Libretto's Pizza in Ballantyne — yes, the same restaurant behind the viral THC Pizza, Spinello's. Kim was formerly in the restaurant business with her husband before branching out into fitness. She's now also one of the instructors at the studio. Zoom out: The Daily Pilates, founded by trainer Lily Collins-Sak, is expanding rapidly. The brand began franchising in 2021 and is expected to have 14 studios along the East Coast, including Raleigh and Wilmington, by the end of the year, according to Libretto. The big picture: The studio joins a growing number of Pilates studios that have recently opened in the Charlotte area, including a handful in Ballantyne. What's next: A deep stretch and sound bath class will be added before the end of the summer, according to Libretto. Other upcoming additions include: Private duet classes (only 1:1 private classes are currently offered). Off-site events. Studio rentals for birthdays and private parties. If you go: An unlimited monthly membership is $300.

Developer moves forward with plans to build 8-acre housing, retail space in Sandy Springs

A residential development company is moving forward with plans to redevelop a more than eight acre space at the 'heart of Sandy Springs.' Trammell Crow Company's High Street Residential will work with Third & Urban to build Hillcrest, an 8.1 acre mixed-use luxury living and community retail space. The Hillcrest project is expected to break ground in June and finish in 2027, sitting next to City Springs. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The overall goal for the space is to build 362 premium apartments, 30 luxury for-rent townhomes and more than 18,000 square feet of retail space with an integrated greenspace plaza, according to the developers. The space, located at what is currently the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church's Activities Center, was sold by the church to High Street Residential as part of a plan to "secure its long-term future within the community" of Sandy Springs. Kate Floyd said. 'The proceeds from our property sale to HSR will go to support our mission. We envision that our new, redeveloped campus will be integral to a vibrant city center and a welcome addition to the community.' Proceeds from the sale by the church will pay for improvements to the main campus. High Street Residential said the building plan will feature a three to five story apartment building and parking garage with over 100 public parking spaces for city events and retail shopping. The luxury townhomes are expected to come in two or three bedroom floorplans and include two-car garages and rooftop patios. The apartments will feature a rooftop pool, panoramic clubroom, a golf simulator lounge, private movie screening room, sauna, fitness center with Pilates studio, a dog park and a cafe-inspired remote work space. 'Hillcrest offers a unique opportunity to create a premier mixed-use destination, elevating Sandy Springs and the City Springs area as one of the top places to live, dine, and play,' Scott Kirchhoff, Principal at HSR, said. 'Through our partnership with Sandy Springs United Methodist Church and the City of Sandy Springs' commitment to adding over 100 public parking spaces, this project will deliver exceptional housing, vibrant restaurants, and meaningful community spaces—supporting the church's future and advancing the city's vision for a dynamic urban core.' Third & Urban will design the retail portion of the development, including a mix of both high-end and casual dining options, an ice cream shop, coffee shop, fitness studio and wine bar, in addition to community gathering spaces. 'Hillcrest will introduce a mix of local, walkable shops and restaurants with abundant patio and outdoor spaces -- creating a retail experience that's unique to the market,' Hank Farmer, partner at Third & Urban, said. 'Located adjacent to City Springs, the project sits at the heart of the community in a pedestrian-focused, connected environment that reflects the character and spirit of Sandy Springs.' As far as location, the Hillcrest development will 'terrace down from Mount Vernon to Sandy Springs Circle.' Construction plans include improvements to the area's street infrastructure, including connected, walkable spaces and adding on-street parking. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]
