Terrified mum who made Turkey teeth celebration 'mistake' stranded for six weeks
"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter."
A terrified mum has been trapped abroad after making a 'huge mistake' while celebrating boyfriend's new Turkey teeth.
Georgia Harrison from Whitworth in Rochdale, was arrested alongside her partner after trying to leave the Lexia Hotel in Antalya on May 7.
The couple had spent the night celebrating her boyfriend getting his new Turkey teeth as part of the trip when she says she blacked out and smashed the glass bathroom screen, reports the Manchester Evening News.
After leaving the hotel without declaring the damage, she then claims her taxi was chased down and blocked in before police were called, where she was thrown in a Turkish cell and held there for several days with "hundreds of men"
Georgia claims they were then hauled into court before a judge and banned from leaving the country until the hotel was paid back the sum of £15,000 - money which she says she cannot afford.
She said the embassy suggested instructing a lawyer who has tried to mediate and get the ban lifted, including by offering to pay £3,000 in damages, but six weeks later, is still stuck in the country and unable to leave to go home to her 12-year-old daughter. Her partner is also on a travel ban.
"I got drunk and I have somehow smashed the shower screen of the hotel room and damaged the room. [It was the] worst mistake of my life. Anyway it's done, I can't change it but wow am I paying for it," she said.
"I have sat here for six weeks and suffered in silence not wanting the world to know my business, but it's getting too much and I am getting nowhere.
"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter.
"I'm sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave. Yes it was the wrong thing to do, but I was scared and not thinking straight. Maybe if I didn't, I would be in this mess. I know only I am to blame and my actions are the reason I cannot see my daughter."
Over the last seven weeks, Georgia claims she has appeared in court and unknowingly signed an agreement to pay back £15,000 in damages, was originally denied a solicitor, and has also been unable to access her vital medication, which she only had a five-day supply of for her original trip.

Despite attempts at mediation with legal representatives overseas, she says the travel ban has still not been lifted, with the fine looming over her, and she has since tried to flee the country via plane, a ferry and a day trip to Greece. Efforts are now being made to get the travel ban lifted, she said.
Georgia explained: "I don't deserve this. I've sat in silence. Seven weeks today I've been here and waited and prayed. I feel nothing is moving and nothing is working.
"Spent nearly all of what my family got together being here, then trying to leave, it's all too much. It's the fact I can't help her [my daughter] or tell her when I will be home, and she is crying to me and telling me she misses me.
"I have three sisters there so they are keeping her busy and I know she's safe and well, but I am her mum and I should be able to provide for her and love her like I always have. I've never been without her, the five day trip was going to be the longest ever."

Driver charged after horror crash killed three young men in Falkirk
A 21-year-old has been charged in connection with the fatal crash that killed all three of her passengers last year. A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged almost a year after three young men were killed in a horror crash in Falkirk. Reece Williams, 23, Lewis Soden, 24 and Connor Page, 21, died after the white Ford Focus they were passengers in crashed on Moss Road near Dunmore around 6.15pm on Friday, 26 July. The three young men died at the scene. The driver, who was 20-years-old at the time, was rushed to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment but was later released. Police have now confirmed that the female driver has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence. She is due to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court at a later date. The heartbroken families of the three young men all released a statement shortly after the tragic incident paying tribute. Reece's family said: "Reece will forever be a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. There will not be a day where we don't hold space to remember Reece and the memories that we made together. "We'd like to express our thanks to the emergency services, witnesses and to everyone who has sent their condolences." Lewis' family said: "Lewis has and will forever be a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend to many. "There will not be a day where Lewis won't be missed and where we won't hold room in our hearts to remember him and the memories that we all made together. "We would also like to express our thanks to all the emergency services, witnesses and to everyone who has sent their condolences." Connor's family added: "Connor was loved beyond words." Police launched a probe last July when the three men lost their lives appealing for witnesses to come forward with information. Sergeant Elaine Scott said at the time: 'Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of all involved at this very difficult time. 'Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and we continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to please get in touch." A statement from the force said: "A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash near Falkirk. Aflac finds suspicious activity on US network that may impact Social Security numbers, other data
Aflac says that it has identified suspicious activity on its network in the U.S. that may impact Social Security numbers and other personal information, calling the incident part of a cybercrime campaign against the insurance industry. The company said Friday that the intrusion was stopped within hours. 'We continue to serve our customers as we respond to this incident and can underwrite policies, review claims, and otherwise service our customers as usual,' Aflac said in a statement. The company said that it's in the early stages of a review of the incident, and so far is unable to determine the total number of affected individuals. Aflac Inc. said potentially impacted files contain claims information, health information, Social Security numbers, and other personal information, related to customers, beneficiaries, employees, agents, and other individuals in its U.S. business. The Columbus, Georgia, company said that it will offer free credit monitoring and identity theft protection and Medical Shield for 24 months to anyone that calls its call center. Cyberattacks against companies have been rampant for years, but a string of attacks on retail companies have raised awareness of the issue because the breaches can impact customers. United Natural Foods, a wholesale distributor that supplies Whole Foods and other grocers, said earlier this month that a breach of its systems was disrupting its ability to fulfill orders — leaving many stores without certain items. CCTV footage has been released after a man on Glasgow train assaulted and robbed. An image of a man wearing a blue and yellow Boca Juniors top on a ScotRail train has been published as the British Transport Police wish to speak to the person in connection with an assault. The incident took place on board a train between Glasgow Queen Street and Balloch near Clydebank at around 9pm on April 30 when a man was assaulted by another man who stole his backpack and fled the train at Clydebank. The person cops wish to speak to is described as white, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, around 5ft11, with medium brown hair. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a blue football top. Officers would urge the male or any members of the public who recognise him to contact police. Anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 with the reference 745 of 30 April 2025.
