Yahoo16-03-2025

The JPMorgan Ultra-Short Income ETF (JPST) experienced outflows of $318.2 million amid continued market volatility, according to etf.com daily fund flows data. The ultra-short bond fund's decline came as investors rotated away from corporate debt exposure.
The Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF (VCSH) saw $282.4 million in outflows and iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD) lost $281.1 million. On the inflows side, the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) attracted $1.07 billion as investors sought core equity exposure. The iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) pulled in $894.4 million, while the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) gained $478.4 million.
U.S. fixed-income funds led asset classes with $1.9 billion in inflows, while U.S. equity ETFs gained $792.9 million despite market turbulence. Overall industry flows totaled $3.6 billion, with currency ETFs posting the largest losses at $400.4 million as trade tensions escalated following new tariff threats.

BlackRock Looks to Take ETF Volume Crown from State Street

State Street Corp. (STT) is on track to lose its position as the world leader in ETF trading volume, as investors aggressively snap up BlackRock Inc. (BLK) funds, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. State Street, whose SPDR business is the third-largest U.S. ETF issuer by assets behind BlackRock's iShares and The Vanguard Group, controls 31% of U.S. exchange-traded fund trading volume, Bloomberg ETF Analyst Athanasios Psarofagis wrote. While rival BlackRock holds 25%, its share is growing faster thanks to trading in the iShares Bitcoin ETF Trust (IBIT), its spot Bitcoin fund, and the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV). Volume is critical in the ETF business where the three largest funds, the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) and IVV charge rock-bottom fees and count on huge assets to generate income. The $607.4 billion SPY, which this year lost its title as the world's largest ETF to the $679.8 billion VOO, is the most expensive among the world's three biggest ETFs. 'BlackRock has steadily narrowed the gap and is on track to take the No. 1 spot,' Psarofagis wrote. VOO has become the largest ETF due to winning the most investor money this year, hauling in a net $80.9 billion while the other two big funds have had outflows. Still, SPY typically does more volume: Last week, 585 million shares traded, crushing VOO's 67.8 million and IVV's 66.8 million, according to FactSet data on IBIT, the fastest-growing ETF on record, had volume of 339.7 million shares last week. IBIT One-Month Price and Volume—Source: FactSet Volume overall has grown 'dramatically' in the past few years, and now about $13 trillion trades each quarter, Psarofagis wrote. The top 10 ETFs account for 44% of all volume and, while that's concentrated, it's actually broadened from a peak of 51%, he said. Analysts have speculated that IVV may soon surpass SPY to become the second-largest | © Copyright 2025 All rights reserved Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data

Latest ETF Flows Show the ‘TACO' Trade in Action

Recent ETF flows suggest the great U.S.-to-Europe rotation is already losing momentum, perhaps a sign of the TACO, or "Trump always chickens out," trade in action. Indeed, European ETF investors poured $3.3 billion into U.S. equities in the four weeks to June 6, surpassing European equivalents, which pulled in $2.2 billion, according to figures from Morningstar Direct. As the below chart illustrates, the U.S. exceptionalism trade peaked in late 2024 before a spectacular turnaround took hold in the early months of 2025. But recent flow momentum has swung back in favor of U.S. stocks. Rolling Three-month inflows into Europe-domiciled ETFs by region—Source: Morningstar Direct, ETF Stream The data swim against the prevailing narrative that a great rotation out of U.S. stocks is underway, with Europe one of the principal beneficiaries. Six months ago, such a turnaround was all but inconceivable. Indeed, almost all ETF issuers called for a continuation of U.S. exceptionalism in their 2025 outlooks, but the reversal has been spectacular this year as President Donald Trump's chaotic tariff announcements and profligate spending plans called economic growth into question and shined a spotlight on the deteriorating U.S. fiscal position. However, the latest positioning suggests investors are yet to call time on U.S. exceptionalism altogether, and the recent shift could be a sign of the TACO trade in action—an assumption that Trump always chickens out of his initial policy stance. "Relaxing signals in the trade dispute between China and the USA impacted the ETF market in May. Investors turned more towards the USA again," said Stefan Kuhn, head of ETF distribution Europe at Fidelity International. And looking to Europe, after a stellar run year to date, 'Investors are asking themselves how much upside potential European stocks still have,' he said.
