Polaris Forge 'AI Factory' model outlines how smart site selection and cooling design can cut costs by up to $60M per year per campus
DALLAS, June 17, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Applied Digital Corporation (Nasdaq: APLD) ('Applied Digital' or the 'Company'), a designer, builder, and operator of next-generation digital infrastructure designed for High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications, announces the release of a new white paper, AI Factory: A Case Study for Total Cost of Ownership. The paper details how site selection and data center design decisions can dramatically reduce the long-term costs of generative AI infrastructure.
'AI factories represent a fundamentally new category of digital infrastructure,' said Wes Cummins, Chairman and CEO of Applied Digital. 'Their success hinges on making the right decisions up front, especially around power and cooling. This white paper helps lay out what those decisions look like and why regions like North Dakota can outperform conventional markets on both cost and sustainability.'
Applied Digital also introduced Polaris Forge as the name for its North Dakota-based data center region. With four campuses in various stages of development, Polaris Forge is built for scale, optimized for AI workloads, driven by renewable power and supported by infrastructure that prioritizes total cost of ownership.
Key findings from the white paper include:
AI factories require 15-30 times the power density of traditional data centers, driving the need for new power and cooling strategies.
Site selection directly impacts cost; choosing areas with stranded power and cooler climates can reduce annual electricity costs by $50 to $60 million per year compared to other existing 100MW data centers, or up to $2.7 billion over a 30-year lifespan.
Liquid cooling and free cooling are essential to long-term efficiency, enabling significantly lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE).
North Dakota offers more than 220 days of free cooling annually, which contributes to lower operational costs and improved sustainability.
Polaris Forge 01's design, featuring a closed-loop, waterless, direct-to-chip cooling system and access to gigawatt-scale stranded power demonstrates how infrastructure purpose-built for AI can achieve a projected PUE of 1.18 and a WUE near zero.
The company's existing Ellendale campus—now designated Polaris Forge 01—demonstrates how a purpose-built AI factory can outperform traditional markets. Applied Digital designed Polaris Forge 1 with speed and efficiency in mind, selecting a location that offers access to abundant stranded power, a favorable climate for free cooling, and a strong foundation for long-term capacity expansion. Built to support 400 MW of critical IT load, with over 1 gigawatt in load study, Polaris Forge 01 positions both the region and Applied Digital as leaders in AI infrastructure.
In addition to its infrastructure development, Applied Digital continues to play a key role in supporting local economies and workforces through its Community and Economic Development Initiatives. The company's approach to integrating community priorities, such as workforce housing and job creation, into its data center expansion strategy has helped it scale responsibly while maintaining strong local support.
'With Polaris Forge, we're building something that's efficient, scalable and community-focused,' added Cummins. 'We believe AI infrastructure can thrive in places like North Dakota—not in spite of their location, but because of it.'
Applied Digital recently signed a 250MW 15-year lease agreement, worth $7 billion over its term, with CoreWeave for deployment at Polaris Forge 01, demonstrating strong market confidence in the company's ability to deliver large-scale, AI-optimized infrastructure with speed and reliability in emerging high-performance computing regions.

1 AI Super Stock Is Starting to Rebound, but Shares Still Look Cheap

Datadog stock remains more than 35% below the all-time high it reached four years ago. Many organizations are rapidly adopting AI-powered tools, which presents an opportunity for Datadog. The shares are trading near their cheapest price-to-sales ratio ever. 10 stocks we like better than Datadog › The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is generating plenty of wealth on Wall Street -- and the winners won't be limited to just semiconductor stocks like Nvidia. Tech stocks across several subsectors will benefit, too. Let's take a look at one such stock, Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG). Between 2019 and 2021, Datadog was one of the hottest names in the stock market. Shares advanced by more than 400% in only three years. However, as the stock market soured on tech stocks and speculative companies in 2022, Datadog shares plummeted. All told, the shares cratered by 68%, erasing the majority of their earlier gains. As of this writing, Datadog stock remains more than 35% off of the all-time high it touched in late 2021. Yet sentiment regarding the stock appears to have shifted. Datadog, which provides cloud monitoring services for enterprises, now boasts strong ratings from the analyst community. According to data compiled by Yahoo! Finance, there are 46 analysts covering Datadog. Of those, 10 rate it as a strong buy, 28 rate it a buy, and eight call it a hold. None of them rate it a sell or strong sell. Moreover, the average 12-month price target for Datadog shares is nearly $139. That's about 9% higher than the stock trades as of this writing. Datadog's business model is to sell monitoring services to organizations with significant cloud assets. This type of monitoring is critical to enterprises today, as operational downtime can result in serious consequences, including lost revenue, customer dissatisfaction, and even legal action. It already serves tens of thousands of clients across a range of industries, including e-commerce, gaming, and finance. While the type of monitoring that Datadog offers isn't new, what it is monitoring is changing. New large language models (LLMs) powered by AI algorithms have become much more important to organizations. Use of these models is rapidly spreading into the day-to-day operations of countless organizations. As this happens, their performance must be monitored, too. That has created a new source of revenue for Datadog, which is helping boost its growth. Consider the company's first-quarter results. Datadog noted that about 8.5% of its total revenue came from AI-native customers. That was up from 3.5% one year earlier -- showing meaningful growth for this new source of revenue. Management also raised its revenue guidance for the year by about $40 million, or 1%, on the back of this fast-growing new source of sales. Ultimately, these figures aren't game changers for Datadog, but they demonstrate that the AI revolution is benefiting the company. If it can continue to deliver on its higher guidance -- or even surpass it -- the stock should respond positively. In part, that's because Datadog's valuation remains near multiyear lows. Though Datadog's stock price has recovered significantly from its 2022 low point, its valuation -- as measured by its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio -- remains near the bottom of its range. As of this writing, Datadog shares trade at a P/S ratio of around 16. That's well below the peak levels above 60 that it reached in 2020 and 2021. It's also far below the stock's average of 28. Granted, a P/S ratio of 16 is still high compared to many stocks -- even within the tech sector. However, for long-term investors who want to establish a position in Datadog shares, it should be comforting that it doesn't appear to be overvalued. The stock appears to be rebounding after a steep decline. The AI revolution is playing a role in that comeback, and the analyst community is moderately bullish on the company's prospects. Finally, its current valuation is well below its long-term average. Overall, that suggests that this could be a good time for long-term investors to buy. Martini Market Presale Surpasses 40% of Softcap Within 24 Hours of Launch on XRP Ledger

By GlobeNewswire Published on June 21, 2025, 19:02 IST DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 21, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Martini Market , the decentralized prediction market platform being developed on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), has confirmed that its $MRT token presale has exceeded 40% of its initial softcap target within 24 hours of launch. The strong early participation reflects rising interest in emerging use cases within the expanding XRP ecosystem. The presale, which opened on June 19 at 3 PM UTC, offers 4 million $MRT tokens to the public out of a total supply of 10 million. The softcap is set at 50,000 XRP, and the hardcap is capped at 250,000 XRP. According to the project team, over 20,000 XRP has already been contributed in the first 24 hours. Martini Market positions itself as the first decentralized, on-chain prediction platform built directly on the XRP Ledger. It aims to enable users to create and participate in outcome-based markets tied to real-world events. These include sectors such as politics, sports, finance, and global affairs, resolved via oracles and on-chain automation. The $MRT token is designed as a core utility asset within the Martini Market ecosystem. According to the team, its intended functions include governance participation, staking, and market creation. Platform users holding specific quantities of $MRT will have access to additional roles and benefits once the platform is live. The project launch comes amid a period of notable development across the XRP Ledger. Ripple's recent regulatory progress in the UAE, including DFSA approval and partnerships with Zand Bank and Mamo, along with the integration of USDC and RLUSD, and the introduction of an EVM-compatible sidechain, have contributed to an environment increasingly supportive of DeFi protocols. 'The early demand for $MRT appears to reflect an appetite within the XRPL community for decentralized tools that go beyond payments,' said a Martini Market spokesperson. 'Prediction markets are widely used on other blockchains, and bringing this functionality to XRPL could open a new chapter in its utility-driven growth.' The $MRT token is currently being offered at a presale rate of 1 XRP = 16 MRT. Post-presale, the listing price has been set at 1 XRP = 11 MRT, representing a difference of approximately 30% from the presale valuation. The presale is expected to run for up to 30 days, though it may conclude earlier if the hardcap is reached. In addition to governance and market participation, $MRT will also be used to incentivize liquidity providers and potentially reward staking participants. Specific platform mechanisms will be detailed further as the protocol approaches mainnet deployment. Martini Market has not made any financial projections or investment claims regarding $MRT. The team emphasizes that participation in the presale is subject to personal discretion and recommends that users conduct independent research before contributing.
