It's National Picnic Week until the 21st June, and if you're anything like me, your season has already been punctuated by spontaneous in the park with your pals.
Not only a dreamy way to bask in the elusive British sunshine, picnicking is also my favourite hack for not spending an arm and a leg on drinks and dinner. Even better, it invites the elite concept of snacking as an actual meal. Enter: the quintessential picky-bits kit.

Starz Sets British Boxing Drama ‘Fightland' From Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson
Starz has greenlit the drama project Fightland, a high-octane scripted series set in the cutthroat, high-stakes, cash-rich world of British boxing. Executive produced by Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson through his G-Unit Film & Television, the series delivers a gripping story of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition in and out of the ring. Starz has ordered eight episodes of the crime drama, with production slated to begin this fall in London. With edge-of-seat action and populated by dangerous characters, this is a world of money and power never seen before. 'Fightland marks my first internationally produced show through my G-Unit Film & Television. I am excited to bring that global energy to the screen,' said Jackson. 'I anticipate this to be more successful than anything I've done before—boxing's raw stakes are gonna take it to another level.' Fightland joined Jackson's multiple other successful series at Starz, including the 'Power' franchise crime dramas: Power (2014), Power Book II: Ghost (2020), Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force, with two more titles currently in development, Power: Origins and, as Deadline just revealed exclusively this week, Power: Legacy (w/t), which is expected to star Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr. Jackson will executive produce through his G-Unit Film & Television, along with Francis Hopkinson (Wallander, Bancroft) and Kate Leadbetter (Woman in White, Catherine the Great) of Expanded Media, who will also produce. The series also reunites Starz with Damione Macedon (Power, BMF) and Raphael Jackson Jr. (Power, BMF), who will serve as showrunners, executive producers, and writers. BBC Content Supremo Latest: Banijay UK Boss Patrick Holland Out, Kate Phillips Person To Beat
EXCLUSIVE: We have more on the race to replace Charlotte Moore as the BBC's content supremo. After revealing earlier this month that there were three top contenders for the most powerful creative job in British television, audio, and streaming, Deadline hears one of the trio is now not in the running. Holland was considered to be the leading external candidate, even though he told colleagues that he was happy to remain at Banijay UK, where he has been since 2022. BBC sources speculated that salary has been a decisive factor for some external candidates, as the corporation struggles to compete with deep-pocketed commercial counterparts. Moore is paid £468,000 ($628,000). The Holland development, as well Netflix UK chief Anne Mensah ruling herself out, has cemented Kate Phillips' position as the candidate to beat. Phillips, the BBC's unscripted boss and interim chief content officer, has the support of many colleagues at the corporation, while a number of powerful producers are pulling for her to get the job. Sources said Phillips is skillfully caretaking in the content chief role as Moore prepares to leave the BBC's New Broadcasting House headquarters next week. BBC Studios Productions CEO Zai Bennett was thought to be the third strong contender for the job. Others linked include Tom McDonald, the New York-based executive vice president of Nat Geo, and Dan McGolpin, the director of iPlayer and channels. Others have ruled themselves out. This includes Jay Hunt, Apple TV+'s boss in Europe, and Channel 4's content supremo Ian Katz. Sources said Apple executive Alison Kirkham was considered, but is said to be happy in her current role. Liam Keelan, Disney's former EMEA originals chief, is not in the running. Headhunters Grace Blue and Ibison have helped steer the BBC recruitment process, with director general Tim Davie taking a personal interest. Moore is stepping down as chief content officer after four years to join Left Bank Pictures as CEO. She will also oversee international creative output for Sony Pictures Television. Dua Lipa and actor fiancé Callum Turner will avoid one thing at wedding
So many of Dua's songs are about failed and messy relationships, that you might imagine her facing life as a perpetual singleton. However, nothing could be further from the truth, as she has been blissfully loved-up with British actor Callum Turner for nearly 18 months. The pair were said to have got engaged at Christmas, almost a year after first being seen together at the premiere of Callum's Apple TV+ series, Masters Of The Air, in January 2024. They were then spotted enjoying dinner dates in LA and looking cosy at afterparties for the BAFTAs, the BRITs and the Grammys. In an Instagram snap last October, they appeared smitten following the recording of Dua's televised Royal Albert Hall concert in London, with Callum kissing her on the cheek. 'Post-show fun and so much love!!!' Dua wrote. Callum was previously in a long-term relationship with The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, but while being quizzed about upcoming movie Eternity earlier this year, he appeared to confirm his and Dua's rock-solid status. Asked who he wanted to spend all eternity with, his short but sweet reply was, 'My girlfriend.' Dua and Callum first sparked engagement rumours on Christmas Eve when she shared an Instagram snap that showed a ring on her wedding finger. Another photo of her sipping a martini on New Year's Eve also showed the beautiful gold band with a diamond at its centre. However, the lovebirds have not publicly confirmed any marriage plans, preferring to keep their relationship as low key as possible. 'Dua seems to have found 'the one', but she's not someone who talks about her love life openly,' says music journalist John Earls. 'I think she'll want to avoid any sense of it becoming 'The Dua and Callum Show', so we probably won't know much if and when they marry.' Music writer and broadcaster Matt Charlton believes Dua has found the perfect balance between her public and private persona. 'Some celebrities broadcast every minute of their lives on social media, but Dua's not like that, and she keeps enough of herself back,' he says. 'She retains an old-school aloofness while still being aware of her image and brand, which I think is a good place for her to be.' Prior to falling for Callum, who played Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts, Dua dated French film director Romain Gavras, 43. She was seen with him at a BAFTA afterparty in February 2023 and they made their red carpet debut together at the Cannes Film Festival that May. But in December 2023, they reportedly called it quits, with a source saying Dua wanted to end it 'before things turned sour'. The song French Exit from her Radical Optimism album was thought to reference the split, with lines such as, 'It's not a broken heart if I don't break it/ 'Goodbye' doesn't hurt if I don't say it / And I really hope you'll understand it / Only way to go is a French exit.' Dua also briefly dated Paul Klein, frontman of the US band LANY, and she had an on-off romance with British chef and model Isaac Carew, making her Met Gala debut with him in May 2019. Scheduling conflicts are thought to have caused their break-up a few weeks later, and Dua was then linked with Gigi and Bella Hadid's model and musician brother Anwar, 25. After meeting him at a barbecue, the pair confirmed they were an item with a public kiss at the American Music Awards in November 2019, and Dua once said, 'I'm very comfortable in the relationship, more so than any others.' They spent part of 2020 isolating on Anwar's family farm in Pennsylvania, and describing life in lockdown, Dua said, 'It's been really great – easy and fun and chill. We've been making the most of this because we got all this extra time, that we weren't expecting, to just hang out.' She and Anwar even adopted a puppy together, Dexter, who she called 'our tiny best friend', but after more than two years they went their separate ways in late 2021. In a May 2022 interview, Dua revealed that the 'next chapter' of her life was about 'truly being good with being alone'. Speaking about single life on her At Your Service podcast, she added, 'This is the first year I've not been in a relationship for a very long time. It's been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish.' She even took herself on a solo date in New York, saying, 'Some people on the internet were like, 'Oh, Dua went out for dinner on her own, blah blah, I do this all the time.' And I think that's amazing if you do it all the time. You must be so confident. But it was a big step for me. I was nervous – like, what am I gonna do? I don't want to be on my phone.' In an interview shortly before she got together with Callum, she reflected on the difficulties of meeting someone new. 'Dating, overall, is just a little confusing,' she said. 'It's either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are a public person.' She found it especially tricky as her parents' strong marriage had always shaped her own perceptions of love. 'You have such high expectations,' she said in 2018. 'My mum married the first man she fell in love with – first boyfriend, first everything. It does kind of paint this ideal love story in your head.' Not surprisingly, Dua found herself enduring plenty of bad dates while navigating singledom, which played out through the candid lyrics of songs like Houdini and Training Season. But as John points out, those days are now long gone. 'I don't think she'll write another album that focuses on failed relationships when she doesn't have them in her life any more,' he says. 'Perhaps her next album will instead consist of 10 songs about how great love is. I'm sure Dua can make a happy album, but we'll have to wait and see.'
