Philippines experiences longest day of 2025

The Philippines experienced the longest day of 2025 on Saturday, June 21. ''Today is the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year! It's when the Sun reaches its northernly point in the sky, giving us more daylight than any other day,'' PAGASA said. It signaled the start of summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere, when the Sun is above the horizon for a shorter time than on any other day of the year, the weather agency said. According to PAGASA, the sun rose at 5:28 a.m. in Metro Manila. The sun set at 6:29 p.m., providing the locals with around 13 hours of daylight, although afternoon thunderstorms partially obscured it. Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and easterlies will affect the country in the next 24 hours. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast for Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Negros Island Region due to the ITCZ. 'Aktibo ang ating mga unified command at task forces sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa NDRRMC at iba pang ahensiya ng pamahalaan upang tiyakin ang mabilis at coordinated na pagtugon sa mga emergency,' Padilla told Super Radyo dzBB. (Our unified command and task forces are actively coordinating with the NDRRMC and other government agencies to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to emergencies.) She added the AFP also has prepositioned assets and trained personnel in high-risk areas that can be immediately deployed in times of need. 'Patuloy ang ating regular and advanced training sa ating mga tropa sa disaster response operation. Kabilang diyan ang water search and rescue, casualty evacuation, at first aid,' Padilla said.
