May 10—The man convicted in the October 2024 stabbing of the principal of South Point Elementary School was sentenced to an aggregate term of 39 1/2 to 45 years in prison on Thursday.
According to a news release from the Lawrence County Prosecutor's office, County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Ballard sentenced Josh Collins, after he was found guilty following a two-day bench trial in April.
On Oct. 24, 2024, Collins entered a secure area of South Point Elementary School, and after a brief conversation with Christian, he pulled out a knife and began stabbing Christian in the back and head.
Christian was able to retreat into the secure office. Collins then used his knife and broke the glass to the office window, gaining entry into the secure part of the school. Collins continued after Christian with a knife, causing the school to enter into lock down and extreme panic ensued on behalf of teachers, students, administrators and parents, the prosecutor's office said.
Collins was found guilty of felonious assault, attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance in a School Safety Zone, inducing panic and seven counts of kidnapping.
At sentencing, Prosecutor Anderson emphasized the gravity of the offenses and urged the court to impose a term that would ensure Collins could never again endanger or terrorize others. Judge Ballard agreed, imposing the sentence to reflect the seriousness of the crimes and to protect the community.

Shedeur Sanders Has Been Stopped Twice By Police

Shedeur Sanders Has Been Stopped Twice By Police originally appeared on The Spun. The hits keep coming for Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders, a fifth round NFL Draft pick, was reportedly pulled over by police in Ohio on Tuesday morning. Shortly after midnight, Sanders was reportedly pulled over for allegedly driving 101 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. He was reportedly given a citation and could appear in court, if he chooses to fight the ticket. Advertisement However, this was not the only time that Sanders has been pulled over by police. ESPN reported on Thursday, June 19 that Sanders has actually been pulled over twice for speeding. He was pulled over for speeding 91 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. From the report: According to a Medina [Ohio] Municipal Court record that was filed June 6, Sanders was pulled over by the Ohio State Patrol earlier this month. In that alleged violation, which took place June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, The Ohio State Patrol told WKBN-TV that Sanders was stopped for driving 91 mph in a 65-mph zone. According to the record, Sanders failed to appear for an arraignment for that citation on Monday and faces $269 in fines and court costs. He was then stopped by an officer for the Strongsville (Ohio) Police Department at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday morning for driving 41 mph over the posted 60 mph speed limit in a black Dodge TRX truck. The Browns are standing by Sanders, for now. "He is taking care of the tickets," team spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told Meanwhile, while the Browns are sticking by Sanders, Fox Sports 1 host Colin Cowherd is not. This is not good for a quarterback," he said on his "The Herd" show on Thursday afternoon, June 19. Advertisement "I do not cling to opinions. New information, new opinion. I don't think about him the same. When you fall to (pick) 144 in the draft, and then you try to match that number behind the wheel of a car, I don't think the same. "You ignored signs about Manziel and Baker. And, apparently, based on the traffic violation, Shedeur was avoiding some signs, too - that say stop. I'm not sure he's mature enough. Now I'm going to have to like Kenny Pickett." Shedeur Sanders Traffic Stop Video Shows Cop Saying 'He Doesn't Know Who You Are'

Shedeur Sanders is a household name in the football world, but at least one cop in Ohio couldn't recognize him earlier this month ... as new police video, obtained by TMZ Sports, shows an officer initially had no idea he was performing a traffic stop on Deion's son. Check out the footage -- after cops pulled over Sanders in Medina County, Ohio, for allegedly going 91 MPH in a 65 zone ... the NFL quarterback handed over an out-of-state ID that perplexed one of the troopers who was interrogating him. Getty "What's with the Mississippi ID?" the cop asked. Advertisement As Sanders tried to explain he used to play college football in Jackson ... the other officer helping conduct the stop butted in. "He doesn't know who you are." Getty Seems after re-reading the ID, the cop was able to put the puzzle together ... as he uttered, "Oh. Sanders. Gotcha." Despite apparently realizing Sanders' fame ... the cop still wrote the Cleveland Browns rookie a citation for speeding. Records show the signal-caller then failed to appear at a court hearing for the matter on June 16. A day later -- on June 17 -- Sanders was busted for speeding in Ohio once again. According to Strongsville Police Dept. records we obtained, cops pulled the 23-year-old over for allegedly going 101 in a 60. Shedeur Sanders Busted for Speeding, Allegedly Drove 101 MPH on Highway Police video from that stop shows the responding officers did recognize him as a former college football star ... but he was nonetheless issued another citation and given a July 3 court date. Advertisement A Browns spokesperson told this week Sanders "is taking care of the tickets." For Sanders' part, he appears to be unbothered by the incidents ... as he laughed them off when they were brought up during a charity softball event on Thursday.
