President Pezeshkian dials PM Modi after Trump bombs Iran

on Sunday spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the unfolding scenario following US airstrikes against three nuclear sites in the country. The PM expressed deep concerns over the developments and called for immediate de-escalation in hostilities.
"Spoke with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability," Modi said in a post on X.
Pezeshkian reached out to Modi in the wake of the US action and briefed the PM in detail on the evolving situation. The call lasted 45 minutes, people said. Pezeshkian described India as a friend and partner in promoting regional peace, security and stability. He thanked Modi for India's position and the call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy. India's voice and role is important in restoration of regional peace and stability, Pezeshkian emphasised during the call, according to the people cited above.
