Five more arrests in stabbing murder investigation
Police have made five more arrests in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man in Derby.
Dale Martin, known as DJ, was pronounced dead in hospital after being attacked in Stenson Road at about 23:45 BST on Sunday 15 June.
On Sunday, Derbyshire Police said a 24-year-old man and an 18-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder following Mr Martin's death.
Detectives added a 25-year-old man and 17-year-old boy had also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and another man, 28, arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
All five remained in custody on Monday, police added.
The latest arrests follow a number of others made during a police investigation into Mr Martin's death.
Two 18-year-old men were arrested last week on suspicion of murder and an 18-year-old woman was arrested for assisting an offender.
Two other men, aged 24 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the investigation.
Three other men arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of murder remain in police custody.
A woman and three men were also arrested on suspicion of affray and remain on bail, police added.
Det Ch Insp Claudia Musson said: "We have made a significant number of arrests as our investigation has progressed.
"Our inquiries are still very much ongoing and we are still appealing for members of the public to contact us with any information relevant to our inquiries."
She said she wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen a Renault Megane in the Stenson Road area at the time of the stabbing.
Detectives also said they would like to speak to anyone who saw e-bikes or mopeds being ridden in the Stenson Road and Sinfin area – particularly those with a rider and pillion passengers.
Police said they were also investigating a linked incident outside The Oaklands pub in Oaklands Avenue, Littleover, at about 18:00 on Sunday 15 June when officers were called to reports of men carrying knives.
No one was injured during that incident, police said.

Warning issued to parents after child 'approached' by woman near school
A warning has been issued to parents and carers following reports of a child being 'approached' near to a school in Oldham. UK to ban Palestine Action under terror laws after RAF base break-in

The group has committed multiple acts of vandalism against defence-related properties. The ban will make it a criminal offense to belong to or support Palestine Action, with penalties of up to 14 years in prison. Cooper said the vandalism of two planes at RAF Brize Norton in southern England on Friday was "disgraceful" and the group had a "long history of unacceptable criminal damage". Her comments, made in a written statement, came as supporters of the group gathered in central London to protest her move, which had been widely reported would happen Monday. "In several attacks, Palestine Action has committed acts of serious damage to property with the aim of progressing its political cause and influencing the government," Cooper said in the statement. She said she would lay a draft order before parliament next Monday that, if passed, would proscribe the group under Britain's Terrorism Act of 2000. Cooper listed attacks at Thales defence factory in Glasgow in 2022, and two last year against Instro Precision in Kent, southeast England, and Elbit Systems UK in Bristol, in the country's southwest. The ban under terror laws will make it a criminal offence to belong to or support the group, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. "The UK's defence enterprise is vital to the nation's national security and this government will not tolerate those that put that security at risk," Cooper said. She stressed that her decision "is specific to Palestine Action and does not affect lawful protest groups and other organisations campaigning on issues around Palestine or the Middle East". Counter-terror police are investigating Friday's incident, in which two activists allegedly sprayed a plane with red paint while roaming the base on scooters. Man who filmed rape of woman has sentence increased
A man who filmed himself raping a vulnerable woman after a night out has had his six-year sentence increased after senior judges ruled it was unduly lenient. Gagandeep Gulati sent videos he took of the attack, in Castle Gardens in Leicester last September, to others before telling police he was the one who had been raped and sexually assaulted by the victim. The 20-year-old was convicted of rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault and sharing or threatening to share an intimate photograph or film, and sentenced at Leicester Crown Court in March. However, the Court of Appeal increased that to nine years following a hearing on Thursday. The case was referred by Solicitor General Lucy Rigby under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme. The court also imposed concurrent sentences for the assault by penetration and sexual assault of four years and six months respectively. It further ruled the offence of sharing or threatening to share an intimate photograph or film would be quashed, because it was incorrectly tried in a crown court, instead treating the filming as an aggravating feature of the rape. Lord Justice Popplewell, one of a panel of three judges, said Gulati's motive for taking videos of the attack was "seeking to give the false impression of consent", which was a "significant aggravating factor". He concluded that the original sentence "was not merely lenient, but unduly so". The judge said Gulati, then aged 19, encountered his victim in Leicester city centre on 23 September as they both made their way home from nights out. He took the woman, who was intoxicated, to a secluded location in the park and attacked her. After his arrest, Gulati, then studying business at university in the city, told police: "She forced me, I did not force her. I am a religious person. I did not do anything wrong." Lord Justice Popplewell said Gulati told police that his victim forced herself on him, and that he had considered reporting her to the authorities. Gulati also suggested that the videos he took showed "he was afraid for his life at the time of the activity", the judge said. After being convicted, the sentencing judge said that Gulati filming the attack was "nothing more than a cynical and contrived attempt to protect himself" and showed him "boasting of his predatory sexual prowess". After the hearing, the Solicitor General Lucy Rigby welcomed the increased sentence.
