Aaron Plessinger, Red Bull KTM extend through 2026
Aaron Plessinger and Red Bull KTM have extended their contract through the end of the 2026 SuperMotocross League season.
With the contract extension, Plessinger and Red Bull KTM will celebrate five seasons together.
'It means everything to me to be part of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing for 2026,' Plessinger said in a news release. 'I love everybody and everything about this team, it's been an awesome four years together already, and it's flying by, but we're having such a good time. We've had some really, really good results, so to have the team want to keep me around and keep going together, it's really special to me.'
With one victory, five podiums, and eight top-fives, this has been a career year for Plessinger and the team is looking to capitalize on that momentum.
'Looking back on Aaron's career here at KTM as we move into his fifth year with the brand next year, it's clear how much of an impact he has had,' Team Manager said in a release. 'He is more than just a racer, he is an incredible competitor on the track and a huge personality off it as well.'
Plessinger's first career 450 win came with this team last year in San Diego. His second was in the muddy conditions at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a race in which he lapped all but six riders and held a 29-second advantage on the runner-up position.
'I can't wait for what the future brings and my focus right now is to get the best results that I can with the team,' Plessinger continued. 'To build the fanbase that we have is really special as well, because without them and their support we wouldn't be anything.'
Plessinger is sixth in 450 Supercross points, his highest standing since he finished fifth in 2021. Plessinger finished third in Motocross in the past two seasons. The 2025 Pro Motocross season begins in two weeks at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.

Oklahoma Sooners will stripe the stadium against Michigan
The Oklahoma Sooners have a total of seven home games during the 2025 season, including a huge nonconference showdown against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2. Earlier this week, the university announced themes for each home game, with the primetime showdown against the 2023 champs as the highlight. OU will stripe Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 6th, a theme the Sooners have brought out for plenty of other big games in the past. Alternating sections of fans will wear red and white shirts, displaying a great look on TV. That contest could very well earn a lot of eyeballs in early September, as it could even be the site for ESPN's College GameDay in Week 2. The network has already announced that kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. on ABC's Saturday Night Football. But the Michigan game isn't the only one to get a theme in Norman this year. Among others, September 20th against Auburn is "Wear Crimson" day, Homecoming against Ole Miss is set for October 25th and "Military Appreciation Day" is against Missouri on November 22nd. After Oklahoma lost two home games a year ago (against Tennessee and South Carolina), the Sooners would love to get back to their 2023 form, where they went undefeated in Norman. High Point MX betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Aaron Plessinger is a compelling dark horse
Jett Lawrence's betting odds are becoming increasingly prohibitive after scoring overall wins in the first three rounds of the 2025 Pro Motocross season on the strength of five moto wins in six starts. In terms of overall victories, he's won all but one round he's entered. The result is that his raw opening odds are -353 for the outright win this week and -2400 to stand on the overall podium. One would be hard-pressed to quibble over those odds, but there were signs that several riders in the field closed the competition gap in Colorado last week. Aaron Plessinger briefly passed Jett for the lead in the second half of Moto 1, Jett did not take the lead in Moto 2 until the halfway point, and Eli Tomac closed the distance on him for several laps. If either of those riders eliminates mistakes in the next few races while Jett is still recuperating from his torn ACL, bettors could have a profitable day. If Jett can be beaten, it could lead to a snowball effect. Short of an injury, it seems unlikely that anyone will be able to consistently finish ahead of Jett in the final eight rounds of competition, and that is reflected in his championship odds of -757. Jett currently has a points lead equivalent to one full moto (25 points), which translates to 1.6 points per moto over the next 16 races. But Jett did suffer an injury last year that kept him from winning the championship, so bettors need to pay attention to the championship odds for his closest rivals. Tomac's line expanded from +381 entering the Thunder Valley Nationals in Lakewood, Colorado, to +511 this week. The remainder of the field is more than 11/1 to take the title. Tomac (+274) remains the most likely rider to beat Jett for an overall win. He's riding well enough this season to change his mind about retirement, and rumors were all but confirmed last week in the post-race news conference that he will move from Yamaha to KTM as a teammate to Plessinger and Chase Sexton in 2026 (to clear the way for Haiden Deegan to graduate into the 450 class). Unfortunately, Jett's supremacy is so great that it forces riders into mistakes. Tomac rushed a corner in Moto 2 of the Thunder Valley Nationals while attempting to catch Jett and crashed. Plessinger (+1900) is brimming with confidence. When he says it's only a matter of time before he scores an overall win, one cannot help but realize he fully believes it. Plessinger has come tantalizingly close to winning his first 450 moto twice in three rounds. When he ticks that off his wish list, he could conceivably win the overall in the same round. He's worth modest bets each until he ends his streak of moto top-fives. Hunter Lawrence (+862) has lower odds than Plessinger, despite not being as consistently fast. Hunter is scoring overall top-fives with consistency that adds points to his total without making him a serious threat to win the overall. Sleep on Hunter until he begins challenging for moto podiums again. Given their relative performances, Plessinger and Hunter have been matched up in a head-to-head wager. Hunter is favored at -121, while Plessinger is practically even money at -109. Former F1 team boss Guenther Steiner eying MotoGP team CEO role, confirms investment talks
Former Haas Formula One team boss Guenther Steiner has confirmed he is in discussions to invest in a MotoGP team, which could lead to a new role as a squad CEO in the top category of global motorcycle racing. Steiner was axed as Haas team boss at the end of 2023, eight years after its F1 debut in the 2016 season. Following his exit, he began working extensively as a television pundit in the sport. The Italian-American has also released a second book about his time working in F1 and is the co-owner of a North Carolina-based composites company. Advertisement 'I'm unemployed but very busy,' he told The Athletic in an exclusive interview. Reports in recent weeks have linked Steiner with investment in what is a new area of motorsport for the 60-year-old: the Tech3 team in MotoGP. The squad has raced in top-level motorcycle racing since 2001 — mostly as a customer Yamaha squad, before partnering with Austrian manufacturer KTM in 2019. KTM is currently in the midst of a severe financial crisis, which has left its participation in MotoGP beyond the current bike design rules era that ends in 2026 in doubt. This has led Tech3 to seek outside investment. Current team owner Herve Poncharal recently confirmed talks with Steiner during an interview with the championship's host broadcast at the Aragon motorcycle Grand Prix won by Marc Márquez. Poncharal suggested discussion areas have included a potential full sale of the squad. '(Steiner is) a very straightforward person and I think a very nice person to eventually work with,' Poncharal said, via TNT. 'So, right now I am listening to the proposal. It could be to come as a shareholder, as a partner, but it could also be to buy the whole team.' Steiner confirmed the discussions to The Athletic but also insisted a deal was some way off being struck. 'I've looked into it, I speak with quite a few people,' Steiner said. 'I don't want to deny it. I mean, I would be stupid to deny it, but no, it's not done. But I'm working (on it). I always work on projects my whole life and (find) things to do. So, that is one of them because I find (MotoGP) very interesting. Also, a sport which has got a lot of potential to grow because the sport is fabulous — the racing is pretty cool! 'What these guys are doing is bonkers. And I just saw an opportunity. I know a lot of people there and started to work on it. But if it comes to fruition or not, or when, I don't know.' Steiner said his interest in MotoGP stems from feeling 'the sport is undervalued at the moment', but insisted he believes in its potential with or without F1 commercial rights holder Liberty Media acquiring MotoGP as well. That $4.2billion deal was announced back in April 2024, but was subsequently scrutinised by the European Union's antitrust authority, the European Commission. Advertisement Reuters reported in April that approval for the Liberty takeover of MotoGP promoter Dorna will, however, be forthcoming. Liberty Media acquired F1's commercial rights ahead of the 2017 season and embarked on a series of initiatives aimed at growing its reach. 'I think (MotoGP) has got a lot of potential to grow as a sport — a little bit like F1 did,' Steiner said. 'There is a lot of potential there to attract more fans because it's such a good sport. 'I think the sport will grow anyway, with or without Liberty, to be honest. So, I believe in it with or without Liberty. Obviously, Liberty, what they did with F1 is fantastic. And I think they could help make MotoGP bigger for sure.' A MotoGP move would take Steiner into another area of motorsport after his stints as a mechanic and senior engineer in the World Rally Championship with Mazda, Prodrive and Ford, and as managing director at Jaguar in F1 before becoming technical director in the early days after that team's transformation into the current Red Bull squad in 2005. Most famously, he worked as Haas' first F1 team boss. His position at the American squad gained worldwide fame due to his high-profile participation in the Netflix series 'Drive to Survive' — a key Liberty-approved project aimed at swelling F1's fanbase. It is generally considered to have been a big success for F1. But when asked if his mooted MotoGP move would involve him resuming team principal duties in a new field or if he was keen to be more of a silent partner this time around having been so heavily involved in Haas' formation, Steiner replied: 'I don't yet know my position, but I cannot stay silent. 'You know me, I cannot be silent! I cannot be completely silent, but maybe I wouldn't do the day-to-day work. Maybe I would be more strategic, like a CEO or something like this. But I've got too many things going on in my life to do this as 100 percent. So, I will put a lot of effort in because I like it. I cannot, if I'm invested in something, just take the back seat. Advertisement 'I always have opinions and I think there is also my value — I see a lot of things, I've done a lot of things. I'm very old now, by the way, so don't forget that. When you get older, you've got experience and need to try to use it. 'I've never worked in MotoGP. My experience is watching it and speaking with people. Therefore, I say again there's people which know more about the day-to-day MotoGP than me. And I respect that.'
