'His last words on British radio' - poignant end to Nottingham radio legend's final show recorded before his death
The final show that Nottingham radio legend John Peters recorded before his death has been broadcast for the first time as a long-time friend and colleague paid a poignant tribute. John died at the age of 75 on May 24 following a career which saw him become a familiar voice on stations including Radio Trent and Boom Radio.
John was the first voice that Nottingham heard when Radio Trent launched on July 3, 1975. Other stations that John helped to launch included Saga 106.6 and GEM-AM.
The final part of his career saw him join the line-up at the Nottingham-based national station Boom Radio. John manned programmes including a Friday evening show, a Saturday show called John's Jukebox and a Vintage Charts show during his time at Boom Radio.

The last chart show played out whilst John was alive was broadcast on May 18, but the much-loved DJ had prepared another one just before he died. This was heard for the first time on Sunday (June 1) at 12pm. The broadcast began with an introduction from David Lloyd, the co-founder of Boom Radio and a long-standing colleague of John Peters.
Mr Lloyd opened the broadcast by saying: "This time last week we brought you the sad news of the death of our John Peters who is normally with you this time every Sunday. Today, we celebrate his fine achievements in British radio over more than 50 years and we kick off with a special vintage chart.
"It was one prepared by John right at the end of his life. He was told not to carry on by everybody around him, including us, but he took no notice. He battled on one last time and we felt he'd want you to hear those efforts. So for the next hour, lets raise a toast to 'John John' and enjoy his final performance."
The show itself began with the usual introduction from John: "Well it's Sunday, it's 12 O'clock. I'm John Peters and we're here on the vintage charts, but where can I send you this week? Well how about the 26th of May 1966?"
John's final show was a whistle-stop tour of the top 20 from May 26, 1966, with the final three songs played out by John Peters being Frank Sinatra's Strangers In The Night, Wild Thing by The Troggs and, finally, Paint It, Black by The Rolling Stones. Before introducing the latter and running down the top 20, John's last words were: "Don't forget there's no news at 1 O'clock, hope you'll stay with us."
Mr Lloyd finished the broadcast by saying: "Those were his last words on British radio after his 50-plus-year-career. It was a chart rundown, at quite a pace, too. Thank you John Peters, my friend."

The Staggering Price Tag Of Krispy Kreme's Bougiest Custom-Made Donut
For many, Krispy Kreme is the go-to donut chain. It isn't just the delicious glazed donuts, but also the great pricing and convenient availability of Krispy Kreme donuts in grocery stores and other places beyond just a donut shop. However, something that most people don't know about Krispy Kreme is that the same chain known for its cheap donuts is also responsible for creating one of the most expensive donuts in the world. Back in May 2014, Krispy Kreme unveiled a one-of-a-kind golden donut in honor of National Doughnut Week. The donut was put on display in the Selfridges' Oxford Street store in the United Kingdom and had a price tag of nearly £1,000 (which is roughly $1,300 in today's dollars). Dubbed the "gold donut" by many, this unique treat remained on display for one day before it was given away to a makeup artist from London. Considering the donut ended up being presented to one lucky person as a gift at the end of the day, the price tag was mostly for show. Still, because of this, it went down in history as one of the most expensive desserts in the world. If nothing else, it was a fascinating spectacle done by one of the donut chain greats. Read more: The 9 Best Coffee Bean Brands For All Of Your Brewing Needs The reason why this singular donut cost so much is due to the many expensive ingredients that went towards its creation. The donut was filled with Dom Perignon 2002 vintage Champagne jelly and Chateau d'Yquem creme. To put things in perspective, a bottle of Dom Perignon 2002 alone retails for $175. The ingredients used for the donut's topping only added to its hefty price tag. On top of a passionfruit glaze was edible 24 karat gold, a series of handmade gold-dusted Belgian white chocolate decorations, and "edible diamonds." It isn't exactly clear what makes up that last ingredient, but apparently it only contributed to the donut's value. Last but not least, the serving platter. The donut was presented on top of a martini glass which was filled with 500-year-old Courvoisier de L'Esprit Cognac and even more Dom Perignon 2002. All in all, the golden donut took three whole days to assemble and Krispy Kreme only ever made one. Read the original article on Chowhound.

Woman Sparks Debate After Saying People Who Call Repeatedly After Being Ignored the First Time Are ‘Rude'
A woman says she thinks it's 'rude' when people repeatedly call her cell phone 'If I don't answer the first call, what makes them think I'm going to answer the second, third or tenth time?' she wrote on the community forum Mumsnet Readers had mixed opinions on her takeA woman says she thinks it's 'rude' when someone calls her multiple times directly after she doesn't pick up the first time — and it's sparking some debate. The woman detailed her experience in the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on the U.K.-based community site a place where people can go to get input and advice about an array of topics. 'If I don't answer the first call, what makes them think I'm going to answer the second, third or tenth time?' she argued. 'Sometimes I'm having a shower or my phone is in another room [charging], and I'll go to it and there'll be 20 missed calls. Or I might be at work. Any number of reasons why I can't answer,' she continued, adding that it's a 'few certain people' in her life who do this. 'Mobile phones have missed call notifications, so it's obvious that someone will ring back when they can,' she concluded her post. A number of post commenters vehemently agreed with the original poster (OP). 'My phone is for me, for my convenience. I'll answer or call back when I want to, no matter how many times you ring. I really hate being contactable so easily,' one person wrote. 'The more people do that, the more I don't answer,' someone else said. 'If someone called me that number of times without a damned good reason, I would block their number.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Some people, however, said it depends on the situation. 'Generally, yes, but it depends why,' one person wrote. 'If someone is ringing me because I'm 10 minutes late to meet them and they want to know an ETA or whatever, I think it's far more acceptable than if someone is ringing for a chat or something that can wait.' Other community members said they completely disagreed with the OP's perspective, and said they actually take issue with people not answering their phones in the first place. 'I don't find it rude at all if someone rings me. I grew up with landline phone calls and letters. When I was a teenager, the only way to contact someone quickly was by phone call or telegram. I think most of you need to unclench,' one person commented. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! Another person suggested the OP should perhaps consider having some empathy for the person who's calling, as they might not mean to be rude. "I do this [call repeatedly] — I can't help it. It's an anxiety thing,' they explained. "If people don't answer their phones, I think they are dead … If someone doesn't want to speak to me, that's fine, but a quick message to say, 'I'm busy' is fine. Then I'll leave you alone.'
