Kinfra mini industrial park launched at Thonnakkal
Thiruvananthapuram: Industries minister P Rajeeve on Wednesday launched the mini industrial park at Kinfra facility in Thonnakkal. He also handed over allotment letters to 18 entrepreneurs during the ceremony.
He expressed confidence that entrepreneurs who received land in Thonnakkal would begin construction of their units shortly.
Lauding the facility, the minister said basic infrastructure facilities such as roads should be ensured while acquiring land for industrial parks. "Industrial parks should be developed in areas that can accommodate various types of vehicles and have proper access infrastructure. The mini industrial park was set up on land originally acquired in 2011 for Global Ayurveda Park.
The land, which remained unused since then, was reclassified and approved for industrial use in 2023," the minister explained.
He also noted that as soon as basic facilities were developed within the park, all units were booked by entrepreneurs, which was a noteworthy achievement. "No developed land in the state's industrial parks is left unallocated. In a few isolated cases, legal issues delayed allocation, but efforts are underway to resolve these through adalats and facilitate the handover," he added.

Jalgaon district admin plans 11 Bahinai marts for SHGs
Nashik: The Jalgaon district administration has begun establishing marts to promote trade and commerce after disbursing Rs750 crore loan to over 30,000 women self-help groups (SHGs). These marketplaces are being set up at 11 locations across the district and will provide a place for SHGs to showcase their products to consumers. These will also include a restaurant run by the groups. "In Jalgaon, SHGs are very strong in terms of taking loans, running business and producing goods. With the administration's loan of over Rs 750 crore, they are manufacturing and selling items and earning their living. The administration is now providing them with a central space where they can do direct trade," said Meenal Karanwal, CEO, Zilla Parishad. The women self-help groups in Jalgaon are now engaged in marketing agricultural produce, producing local food like papads, crispies, spices, artefacts, and even rendering services like spraying pesticides using drones. They are looking for a market to grow. There will be six marts in six different cities, including Jalgaon, Bhusawal, and others. The remaining five marts will be established at taluka levels in the district. The officer noted the mart would have a big hall in which the SHGs will display their products. On the first floor, there will be a restaurant where multiple SHGs will prepare food and serve customers. There will be a meeting hall on the same floor where the women SHGs can conduct training. The mart will be run by the cluster-level federations and will pay a nominal rent to the ZP, besides managing their own expenses. The foundation of the mart was laid by district guardian minister Gulabrao Patil on Sunday.
