In Flames announced the news on the band's social media accounts, telling fans they had "parted ways" with Tanner Wayne.
In a statement released on Instagram, In Flames said: "It is with profound gratitude and and appreciation that we announce our creative decision to part ways with Tanner Wayne.
"His dedication and musicianship over the past several years has left, and will continue to leave, a lasting mark on this band.
"We wish him nothing but the best."
The Swedish band, which was formed 35 years ago, concluded: "We appreciate your support and understanding at this time and hope to see you all on tour this summer."
Tanner, 37, joined In Flames in July 2018 when he replaced drummer Joe Rickard.
The US musician had begun his drumming career in the hardcore punk band Underminded in 2006, but only featured on one album.
He went on to drum for Chiodos and Suicide Silence before his seven-year stint with In Flames.
Tanner's shock exit from the band came just days before they kicked off their European tour in Estonia.
For the next month, the group - consisting of Björn Gelotte, Anders Fridén, Chris Broderick and Liam Wilson - will be performing across central Europe, eventually wrapping up Sweden.
But despite Tanner walking away, the shows will go on.
In Flames has already recruited a new drummer who accompanied them on their opening night in Tallin, Estonia, on Monday.
Jon Rice has stepped in for the band's high profile tour and appears to have slotted right in.
Alongside a photo of himself playing on stage, Jon wrote on Instagram: "Show #1 done. Thank you for the warm welcome, Tallinn.
"And thank you to @inflames for having me and trusting me with your tunes."
In Flames was originally formed by guitarist Jesper Strömblad in Gothenburg out of the Swedish death metal scene in 1990.
The lineup has changed multiple times over the past three decades, however vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte have remained consistent since 1995.

Curl power! Actress Karen Gillan's startling new hairstyle leaves fans stunned
Her bold hair transformations for movies and manic makeovers have earned her a reputation as one of Scotland's best-loved stars. But Karen Gillan 's latest 'do has left her fans scratching their own heads. The actress took to Instagram on Saturday to debut an outlandish new look that is worlds away from her usual sleek tresses. Posing in oversized sunglasses and a two-piece sweatsuit, Karen sported a voluminous perm in her signature ginger hue. With no caption to explain her radical new style, fans were left questioning whether the perm signals the start of a fresh filming project, or is simply a nod to the actress' quirky sense of humour. The mystery deepened as another photo shared on Karen's stories showed her crazy curls piled above her head – with an orange, crab cap perched jauntily on top. The surreal pictures are by no means the first time that Karen's hairdressing has turned heads. In 2013 the actress shaved her off her locks entirely in preparation for her role as Nebula in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Karen then recycled her shorn tresses when she appeared in a wig of her own hair later that year to play Amy Pond in a Doctor Who Christmas special episode. Steven Moffat, head writer on the show, joked: 'That wig is made of her own hair, it's just detachable now. When they cut her hair they made her a wig of her own hair. Didn't she look lovely?' Karen's shock chops are not limited to professional makeovers either, as the star has succumbed to a DIY disaster on several occasions. Last February, Karen filmed herself attempting to cut a new fringe minutes before she attended a promotional Q&A event. Documenting the ill-fated trim on TikTok she gasped: 'Oh my god, oh my god, this is a bad idea. That was a mistake: this is rubbish!'

Heather Graham, 55, wows in another busty ensemble after revealing the secret to her youthful looks
Heather Graham was a sight to behold at the Filming Italy festival in Santa Margherita di Pule, Italy on Saturday. The Boogie Nights star, 55, wore a figure-hugging white gown with a plunging neckline that showed off her cleavage. Her long blonde pair was parted slightly off center in long, loose waves. The Hangover actress' makeup featured smoky eyes and sun-kissed cheeks. Heather's skin glowed with youthful exuberance and she recently shared her tips for looking young in her mid-fifties. 'I think what matters most is how you feel inside. Decide that you're hot and enjoy your life,' Heather - who last stunned in a blue co-ord - told Retreat. 'What other people think of you is none of your business. If you feel good about yourself, no one can take that away from you. 'Pursue the things that fill you with joy, and surround yourself with loving people,' Heather said. Graham went on to reveal that she doesn't drink or do drugs and she feels that plays a big part in how she looks at 55. Graham continued, 'I get a lot of sleep. Eating healthy makes me feel good. I like cooking for myself and other people. And I love it when people cook for me. 'Basically, I like eating! Also, I do affirmations. I think they are very powerful. 'I work on strengthening my inner loving parent muscle, so I can be supportive and loving to myself. One of my affirmations is: "This is the best time of my life."' And Heather doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk. 'I feel like as I get older, I just care less about things that don't matter,' she told People in April. Heather's skin glowed with youthful exuberance and she recently shared her tips for looking young in her mid-fifties. Seen here June 21, 2025 'Everyone gets upset sometimes, but I think that I'm happier. I've done enough hard work on myself that I feel like I'm a happier person now.' Graham also explained how she gets and keeps her calm, cool, and zen attitude. 'I just enjoy the simple things in life — like sleeping, eating, my friends, things like that. I love meditating.' Her happy place is the ocean and she combines that and yoga to keep her slender frame in shape. 'I like going on yoga retreats because, to be honest, I love just being by the ocean,' she said. 'So, anytime I'm at the ocean, I just feel happier.' And when she's stressed out, she heads outside to absorb nature. 'I like to go out in nature, go to the beach, look at the ocean, go on a hike, go into the mountains, look at the trees," the Chosen Family told the outlet. Over the years, she's shared a few tricks to her age-defying looks, including her 'obsession' with yoga, a sugar-free diet and up to 12 hours of sleep a night. 'I'm obsessed with yoga,' she also told Refinery29 previously. 'For fun, I would go on a yoga retreat and do four hours of yoga a day. Then I do Pilates.' 'What other people think of you is none of your business. If you feel good about yourself, no one can take that away from you,' she said. Seen here June 21, 2025 During that interview, she also insisted that her restrictive diet just makes her 'feel a lot better.' 'I do eat sugar sometimes, but as a broad rule, I try to just eat no sugar basically,' she explained.
